Listened to the audio. Very sad and good work by officers. My guess is they were on surveillance, were mistaken for “ops” and ambushed. What really stood out to me is that 900x was very good about asking if air was clear and if he could ask a question but then his question struck me as odd. He said “I know where the shots were fired from, the lieutenant’s going out to the scene now, I know have nobody in custody...do we have anybody from CPD that fired any rounds?”
I was expecting, “do we have any offender description,” “do we have PH up,” “do we have a perimeter,” “do we have any CPD or additional agents injured?” Instead we are concerned with any officers firing? Yes, of course that is important but your first question is not about an offender that just shot an agent but if CPD officers shot their weapon? To me this is very telling about the state of our department and law enforcement. Sad.
I hope the agent receivers and I’m so sorry this happened to him. Maybe I’m reading too much into that question but it just seemed to be the wrong question to ask at the time.
