Hockey Jamboree

Wish we had heard about this before - we'd have given it a post:
  • To honor the memory of Chicago Police Cmdr. Paul Bauer, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in February, a youth hockey charity tournament was held April 7 and raised more than $5,000 for the Gold Star families and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

The inaugural fundraiser, called the Chicago Police Youth Hockey Jamboree, was organized by Training Officer Martin Foley. More than 90 players from Chicago Police families participated, representing 16 youth hockey clubs across the city and suburbs.
Bu all accounts, a rousing success and many people looking forward to it next year, too.

If you’re interested in giving CPD fundraisers a shout out look up the Gold Star Regatta - a second year sailing race where all profit goes to police and first responder charities. Good people and worth a mention. Kudos to these guys for putting their efforts to a great cause!

Excellent job for all involved.

Also, excellent job properly calling this event “Inagural”. So many would have called it “First Annual”, however the first annual will actually be the second hosting of this event. My OCD thanks you

It’s a great event and what makes it even nicer is that it helps out the Bauer Family. Also Grunt Style with the help of PO George Moussa put together a great shirt and sweatshirt design with all profits going to the Bauer Family.

ACTUALLY if it was held 2 yrs in a row the 2nd one would be the 2nd annual.
So your OCD was only 1/2 right

What a great and thoughtful idea on the part of the promoters of this event. It gives the kids involved a purpose and the real goals scored here were not just in the net, but moreover an example to our youth of 'paying it forward' on behalf of those not necessarily as blessed in life. THANK YOU to ALL involved.

On a similar note, our CPD Football Team, The Enforcers, will host an "Inagural" event on behalf of the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and the CPD Chaplains Ministry. The info appears below regarding a scholarship in the name of Cmdr. Paul Bauer.
THANK YOU to ALL involved here as well, truly, "Chicago's Finest!"

In conjunction with National Police Week the Chicago Police Football Team the Enforcers will be playing their 13th Annual Gold Star Bowl on May 12, 2018 at St. Ignatius HS. The Enforcers will be playing non-league opponent Inland Empire. Kick-off is at 3 pm at St. Ignatius High School 1076 W. Roosevelt Road. The Gold Star Bowl honors fallen Officers.

The Enforcers will be playing in honor of Commander Paul J. Bauer and the legacy he left behind. To honor Commander Bauer’s legacy the Enforcers are teaming up with Mercy Home for Boys and Girls to create the Commander Paul Bauer Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will benefit a Mercy Home resident. On May 12th the Enforcers will be introducing a specially created challenge coin for sale at the game. A portion of the proceeds of the challenge coin sales will go towards the scholarship. The Enforcers believe there is no better way to honor Commander Bauer’s legacy than to help a child in need receive an education.

After May 12th the Enforcers will be selling the coins at various locations throughout the city. Go to www.cpdenforcers.com for dates, times, and details of sales. Also donations can be made to the Commander Paul Bauer Memorial Scholarship fund by going to Mercy Home’s website: www.mercyhome.org/bauerscholarship.

They are, always on time and courteous, but there are evil forces in place trying to ruin this last great sport.
