- Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s top deputy left his position abruptly this week after nearly a year and a half overseeing day-to-day operations at the prosecutor’s office.
Eric Sussman’s last day as first assistant state’s attorney was Wednesday, he confirmed to the Tribune. He had been Foxx’s second-in-command since she took office in December 2016. “Eric was instrumental in helping my transition into office and establishing and implementing our priorities,” Foxx wrote in a statement Thursday thanking him for his efforts.
Sussman, a former federal prosecutor, said he never intended to stay in the high-stress post long. He will be taking the summer to consider his next career move, he said. “I wanted to make a difference, I wanted to make changes, work on bond reform (and) conviction integrity,” he told the Tribune.
Bond reform? You mean the "revolving door" of Cook County? The one that allows violent carjackers out so rapidly that they have to hijack another car to get home?

Uhhhhhhm, if by “difference” you mean fucking this shithole city up worse than when you and Kimmy took over, releasing violent/dangerous criminals back to the streets, undermine law enforcement, encourage further criminal behavior, help erode legal precedence against dangerous criminals, abandoning your duties to prosecute criminals and dissuade officers from doing pointless work (arresting bad people, I mean good people?)....then yes, you did a bang up job!! What’s next on the horizon? Any other major cities you might be interested in destroying?

Joe Magats is a great guy and great prosecutor. Been a criminal prosecutor for many years and has tons jury wins under his belt. Very well respected by the other ASA’s and police who have worked with him. You couldn’t ask for a better guy. He’s a real old school prosecutor. However, I worry that Kim Fox won’t let him run the show like a real prosecutor.

Sussman was fired. Nobody knows why. Possibly linked with Chaka Patterson former Chief of Civil sending business to his old firm at $500 an hour. Stay tuned.
Magats is a great guy and a friend of the police. The problem is that Cabrini Kim and her evil Chief of Staff are not. I fear Joe may have to compromise himself to keep his job.
It's good news. Sussman is an old family friend of Loevy and Loevy and spearheaded the release of several killers. Loevy and Loevy then filed lawsuit. Sussman was escorted out of the building and the Tribune's articles covered up for him. Feds are looking at Foxx.
WHO IS ERIC SUSSMAN?!?!?! Rumor is Eric Sussman was the driving force behind the efforts to free convicted killers. He was brought in specifically to release as many CPD arrested/convicted people as possible. Sussman's father Arthur was the General Counsel for University of Chicago for decades and one of Jon Loevy's best friends. Loevy runs his "Exoneration Project" out of the University and worked closely with old man Sussman. The Loevy and Sussman connection was the way for a direct money connection to return to the Loevy all the money Loevy (through his dad Arthur) and all his friends have been shoveling campaign money to Foxx. It was seen as a win-win. Loevys fund Foxx. Foxx gets "framed" killers out. Loevys get paid. Foxx claims to be the police reformer she ran as so she gets more Democrat cred. The only downside is all the killers who get to go free, the disincentive of CPD to investigate and prosecute the killing of blacks. Whose life matters? Not sure but Foxx and Loevys pocketbook is looking good! Sussman got fired because something really embarrassing to Kim was gonna get out...
Eric was “escorted out” by SAO investigators according to my source. And not in a good way.

Long story short the detective won their Federal Civil trial after the jury came back that the detectives were not liable. His fat ads was to lazy to retry her. Good riddance to bad rubbish. His two key programs are a total failure in terms of fighting crime. Instead of putting people that commit crime in jail where they belong his program puts them back on the street where they are free to commit more crimes. He should be proud his programs are working so well as crime in parts of the city that used to be crime free are seeing an epidemic of rising criminal activity. The CPD is wearing out their figures issuing warnings to affected neighborhoods.
Won't matter who takes job as all strings are being pulled by the Democratic puppet master. To many people of color in jail being fed pizza. To many voter losing their democratic voting rights. Got to fix Kim, and Evans problems at the ballot box. The only hope is strong law and order candidates.

Kim Fux it up is no lawyer by the standards a States Attorney is chosen. Her claim to fame is Pricktinkle and she has no standing to be Bored President! As for the new guy, I guarantee he will be reduced to POS status under this regime very quickly!

Perhaps this is old news, but someone mentioned to me today that Preckwinkle is sending members of her staff into courtrooms to monitor plea deals......how many, race of defendants, sentences, etc. She is apparently compiling a list so that come retention time, she can make those judges who don't toe her line suffer the consequences.
Has anyone else heard this?

Sussman is garbage and Magats is too. It seems that all these ex us attorneys are leftist garbage. Julie porter the new legislative inspector general gave Silverstein a pass. Wonder if Silverstein and his wife being a friend of Rahm had anything to do about it. Porter also refused to comment or investigate Patricia van pelt or even interview pertinent witnesses. Guess that’s what Cullerton and madigan wanted. Maggie Hickey refused to investigate frank capuzis games for years. Another madigan clout. We don’t have to talk about Joe Ferguson who only is in office to do Rahm’s bidding and has refused to look into crooked davina Ward on at least two occasions. And the new us attorney John Lausch has done absolutely nothing and is bringing in Korcoras in as number 2 who has no intention nor interest at all in prosecuting political corruption. Rahm skates again.
Joe Magats is a nice guy but does not have the backbone to stand up to Foxx and those surrounding her. He has become a "yes." I guess you can't blame him because he is close to his pension but he is rapidly losing the respect he earned as a prosecutor.
Maybe he will find work at Duey Wee, Cheat,EMEM and Howe. They are always looking for "decent" lawyers and can never find any. Not surprising as the word decent should never be used to describe a member of the bar. Lawyers are the reason the entire country is so screwed up.
A boat load of progressive lawyers sinking in Lake Michigan would be a very good start.
Sussman had about one week as Fox's 1st Deputy when Area North had an ODPO involved shooting. Within 24 hours, he was calling our commander demanding the detective's reports. When the commander told him that it would be weeks before the reports were submitted, reviewed and approved, he went ballistic. He obtained a subpoena and had the commander hand deliver whatever reports were available at that time, which in essence, was the detective's GPR's. Based SOLELY on those GPR's, he charged the ODPO with 1st degree murder within 72 hours of the incident.

Eric Sussman’s Dad is or was part of the MacArthir Foundation that is involved with bond reform and suing the Chicago Police Department for wrongful convictions. Joe Magat is a good guy; but Foxx and Preckwinkle are still in charge
