- An art exhibit opening in Chicago’s Daley Plaza suggests buying an AR-15 is no more complicated than renting a bike.
The exhibit does not explain that we have a natural, God-given right to keep and bear arms but no constitutional right to bicycles.
CNN reports that the exhibit shows ten fake AR-15s in a rack that looks like the rack from which one can rent a bicycle in larger cities. The exhibit is a project shared by The Escape Pod, a Chicago advertising agency, and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
The accompanying picture is amusing Our readers have spoken of something similar to make carjacking easier:

Real firearm rental racks would be a great idea. Stick your FOID and credit cards in and you have a gun for a few hours for when you go to 001 or 018 for dinner, the theater, concerts the lakefront. Now this would be a money maker for renting the guns and think of all the people who stopped going downtown for fear of muggings, carjacking. It will bring back revenue to all these venues. It would give legit citizens and tourists a sporting chance.

Bicycle riders trying to share the road with distracted or overwhelmed motor vehicle drivers in a densely populated urban environment with heavy traffic has meant an early demise for many a bicyclist.

You just might have a good idea there. Put gun rental desks in the airports.
Flying with a handgun can be such a hassle. TSA gets their panties in a bunch and hassles the owner. Or the gun is stolen. Or locally prohibited.
So one gets off the plane and after all other business is concluded, luggage, rental car,etc., one goes to the gun rental desk, shows his CCW permit, ID and credit card, a quick name check and your on your way. On returning the gun would be turned in first. No boarding pass until gun is returned.
A few beurocratic hurdles to get over, to be sure.
At first I thought the pic was an SCC joke. The vast majority of GSWs are from handguns. Rifle GSWs are a drop in the bucket, although increasing mainly in a few Hispanic gangs.
