Hey, is anyone else as disturbed as we are that the current mayoral field doesn't adequately represent the racial make-up of Chicago? We found one person who noticed:
And now Chicago has three white guys and five black candidates running for office. It's just so disturbing.... reflectively speaking we mean.
- I heard a story the other day about Dan Rostenkowski, one of the legendary figures of Chicago politics. It’s a story that pertains to the silence around two important developments in the race for mayor of Chicago. They’re both critically important to Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s re-election chances, and yet little if anything is being said about them.
One is the unexplainable absence of a Latino candidate challenging Emanuel in a city where Latino politics is dynamic. Emanuel has problems with African-American voters over his handling of the Laquan McDonald police video, but he’s making new friends among Latino politicians by promoting Chicago as a sanctuary city, and by issuing that city ID, available to citizens and noncitizens.
He’s Mayor Zorro now. And there’s no Latino candidate.

Here is my opinion. Rahm has bought the Latino vote and their silence. Too bad because he would be out on his fucking ass if black and brown were to unite and run this city. Daley and Rahm have had almost 30 years and we are fucked financially. Regarding Cook County jail. You cannot get convicted if you are not charged. Racially, white men do most of the date rapes, pedophiles and office transgressions. Never charged and barely convicted. If those cases were pursued with the vigor and intensity of drug cases, cook county would look different.
Watch Rahm announce some new Latino Department Heads plus new schools, libraries and some juicy construction contracts in Latino neighborhoods. It's for the children!
Anyone but Rahm! FOP should help put up an Hispanic candidate or the Teachers Union. Rahm really messed this place up!

Probably detailed. But it doesn’t really matter. The days of openings and certain number of officers in a unit are gone. Years ago if an extra came in or if there were no openings in the unit, you waited until there were. Not anymore, they just send you, no one questions it and nothing is done. Rules and policies are a thing of the past on the CPD.
