Hey Alderasshole?

These people (or folks) don't want a police academy in their neighborhood that might adequately change the way cops are trained and raise the level of professionalism so many in the "community" seem to want:
  • The $95 million police and fire training academy in West Garfield Park that has drawn opposition from Chance the Rapper and college students around the nation triggered yet another raucous City Hall protest on Tuesday.

A small, but determined handful of protesters — chanting, “Shame on y’all,” “This is wrong” and “How do you look yourselves in the mirror? You are killing us” — disrupted a meeting of the City Council’s Budget Committee.

They were promptly escorted out of the Council chambers. Before they left, aldermen approved an ordinance appropriating $20 million from the sale of a valuable North Side fleet maintenance facility for the new police academy.
And we know there's a group of concerned taxpayers who don't want a massive Section 8 building imported into their already overcrowded neighborhood, bringing with it congestion, crime and lowered property values.

How about a swap?

We imagine the north side would welcome a Police Academy with open arms. It wouldn't impact the area since it would only be in use during the day. All those recruits in their shiny new uniforms would probably have a positive effect on the neighborhood. It'd would be convenient to mass transit, so they don't have to build a parking structure.

Besides, the Section 8 building world probably be a better fit in West Garfield Park. Win Win.

Great idea SCC! To bad those northside residents won't get what they want and they sure as hell wouldn't storm a City Counsel meeting to demand that their needs be met!

Couldn’t build it for 95 million on the northwest side. Property values to high, if you could find a parcel large enough for the planned academy

C'mon, SCC. Do you really think that CPD recruits are going to ride mass transit to any police academy? With all of the equipment those recruits have to bring back and forth with them daily? Even for YOU, it's a stretch.
The site of the proposed Paul Bauer Police Training Center should remain where it has been selected to be constructed at.
It will add to the neighborhood, and may even cause a sprout in new businesses in that area that will meet the needs of the
staff and recruits.

Chance The Rapper and the other protesters can go pound sand. They want better trained and disciplined police officers,
they should all get behind the proposed project. Chance has donated serious sums of money to public education. The fact
that he won't support this proposed educational facility for police and fire makes him a bit of a hypocrite. Just saying.

Good read of the landscape with the academy/arena-ville

Question for Realtor Cop: as downtown market continues to heat up, what are the next areas you see on your heat map? We’re talking real, honest to goodness investments. East Garfield Park is so, glaringly obvious, and it looks like 5 year window would yield nothing less than a 98% increase in value. What are your thoughts?

The CPD has not won the hearts and minds of the minority communities in Chicago. The coppers are looked upon as an invading force.

Come on, you're being way too hard on Alderman Arena. He's looking out for the best interests of his Ward. Well more than a majority of the residents really believe he's doing what's best for the community. Not sure why you don't see that having section 8 housing won't better the area and bring about more diversity and integration. It's not like he has a secondary interest in having this pushed through, even having police officers reported for their personal comments. That sounds like dedication to one's career. No doubt he'll be re-elected again, who could possibly run against this guy and win? Can't wait to work on his next campaign, in uniform. I'm on your side John, you can park wherever you want to I'd never say a word.

SCC you are truly a genius by coming up with a swap by putting the new police academy on the north side instead of the west side where the residents of that area do not want it. Why force something on people if they don't want it. The north sider's especially in Arena's ward would relish the idea of having it there. Great transportation, cta, Metra and the Kennedy Expressway. If the word got out I am sure there could be a petition drive that would be successful. The 45th ward residents sure don't want the Arena projects so make that change and send him with since he wants to be a community organizer like Obama. He will fit in fine. Regarding those protesters at the hall the more stupid and ignorant they are the harder it is to deal with them. Since left wing political correctness has determined that you can't use the word animal (I don't think that word should be used as animals in the animal kingdom may kill for food but they don't go around killing for just "funnin" or acting "stupidly" as someone once said) so what we can say the hall attracts illiterate, loutish locust. Better to stock up on some Raid™.

I understand they will get the land dirt cheap in Garfield Park, but why would you train our recruits in a war zone? How about you demolish down that raggedy Near North High School and put the academy there. Near North is used for training anyway. Let our recruits run along the new jogging path that Rahm is about to build. I guess that’s too much like right, because the city would whether sell the land and get the big bucks.

The demise of Sears at Six Corners is an opportunity for the residents of those areas to step up and support the conversion of that building into an Arenaville. The building is enormous. I agree Chicago needs a professional police department. This department should have a fair promotional system free of liars and cheats. While we're on the subject of professional how about our elected leaders set the example. The mayor can't tell the truth. Is that being professional? Chicagos aldermen are nothing but cheats and liars, just in it for themselves. Term limits and drug testing for our elected.

How come it’s almost always “the community” who “demands” things?
When do NW side neighborhoods or Garfield Ridge, Beverly and Mt. Greenwood ever make “demands”?

Let’s face it even if the above neighborhoods made a demand Rahm’s lapdog media likely wouldn’t give it any coverage.

There is land everywhere, how about rahm since you closed what 60 schools and now spending billions giving your friends contracts (Aha the you give me my cut rahm style), your building more! Hey wait a minute your building a huge school on 65th just east of Harlem, you know right where the trains the locomotives sit running for hours spewing that diesel emission, and right by the trucking companies all that diesel fuel, sulfur and cancer causing substances and your building a school there! What about the children? Maybe use that location for the police academy, you know you shit on the coppers anyway you can,and by the way was the land in johhnys area tested for environmental factors? wasn't that land contaminated? You know like the 001st district being built on an old automotive junkyard and how many coppers in that newer building have developed cancer and other life threatening disease? Just axin!

As far as johnny nothing but a punk with power, maybe tough guy the coward johnny can get his baby looking ass out and use that gold enforcement badge all the alderscum have and enforce some laws. They could band together the alderidiots and ride and show the police how to do the job!

On an aldermatic note why was eddie burke walking around the 811 beat stopping at some homes asking them to vote for him? Then having his security detail with him? Now alderman since you need security how about putting more police resources in this area? You obviously feel the need for armed security why not for the residents over here? Your taking care of the eastend of your ward, but since you and madigan and quinn sliced up the once great 23rd ward, you have done zero to bring new business on the archer strip. Also the streets look terrible, while your catering to the more hispanic that this area, parts of your ward with services, even though a young kid beat your brother Dan! Lake Shore Drive or State Street should be renamed for civil rights crusader Ida B. Wells, and Balbo Drive should be left alone, an Italian-American civic leader said Wednesday.
One day after Aldermen Sophia King (4th) and Brendan Reilly (42nd) resurrected the name change, Dominic DiFrisco, president emeritus of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian-Americans, shot it down.
DiFrisco said he would not allow Balbo’s “integral part of Chicago history” to be unfairly smeared and swept away in the haste to honor Wells, an iconic figure in the African-American community who led an anti-lynching crusade.
“We’ve already proven that he was in no way connected with anti-Semitism,” DiFrisco said.

Build it out in Mt.Greenwood on the land behind the Ag school on 115th St. They would be welcomed with open arms like sons and daughters. Maybe not the easiest location to get to from other parts of the city but they'd be appreciated.

5/23/2018 01:55:00 AM

Nice try, i'st to late, Mt. Greenwood use to be the place for coppers to move and live, not anymore. Property values are just beginning to slide, I got out last year and some poor new copper bought in with minimum down. He's fucked and so is the rest that have voted democrat and are sticking it out.

One can dig 20 feet in the soil at that Garfield
park location. It was a toxic chemical wast site
In 1930 to 1940’. Soil test will reveal every toxin
And a few more known to micro biologists.
The place will be a cancer cluster if built.
Let the ghetto dwellers get housing built
for them there. They are totally immune
To about anything except a hallow point
to their head.
FYI. The city well knows site is toxic and
could give two fucks for you
EPA gives two fucks also. A law suit in federal
court will cause the little prick nightmares.
He already has connected with his anointed
contractors. Rahm will see prison folks.
He has more people singing to the feds
then at the mcc.

Level whatever the Sox call their park, build the Academies in their land 3 blocks West of the HQ's and build a new stadium in a better more central location like near the new DePaul Arena. Sox need to start thinking outside the box or they will never draw and the Westside is a stupid place for an academy.

Miscreants meaning anyone engaged in criminal or obnoxious behavior.

Arena’s base of support is in Portage Park and Old Irving. The demise of Sears at Six Corners is an opportunity for the residents of those areas to step up and support the conversion of that building into an Arenaville. The building is enormous. Come on OIPA and Portage Park Neighbors, you can provide housing for thousands of Chicago’s mentally ill and homeless.

5/23/2018 07:13:00 AM

The old Sears store would be a great academy..
Take the elevator....
Basement: Range gun safety marksmanship. Secure parking for Commanders and above, ANY merit officer, Aldermanic vehicles.
1st floor-lobby: Bums , homeless, check-in, etc
2nd floor: Self Defense, battering rams, How not to use force....
3rd floor: Uniform upkeep and personal grooming, How to clean the lens on your bodycam.
4th floor: LEADS, NCIC, Radio procedures
5th floor: Get to know your bosses, Part one Leadership, Part two Merit officers.
Roof: Interfacing with the airborne unit.... (Temp cancelled, since we have no helicopter)

here's a thought: doesn't the city own the old sears headquarters just north of Homan square? With a parking garage--though run down. They can put a track out front. The building is large enough to accommodate police and fire.

“We’ve already proven that he was in no way connected with anti-Semitism,” DiFrisco said.

hey bredan why dont we get rid of that southside st paddys day parade you big goof

There a lot of numbered streets in the city 79th St etc that could be named without removing names from existing streets. Then everyone is happy. Lt.S.

Hopefully to the friends of the park. The FOP protest didn’t help much because of the number of police and retirees that attended. At best , 200. Politicians aren’t going to take note of that

Good luck with that. Unwanted physical contact is a battery. "Protester" or not, you touch me and you're going to jail. Some bullshit policy won't make me become a punching bag for the department. Here's a clue for whomever might be coming up with this new policy: a "protester" who pushes the police is not lawfully or peacefully protesting. They are breaking the law. Maybe we should come up with a policy where we enforce laws when protesters become rioters. Protest all you want in a designated area. Step into the street, march onto LSD or the expressways, interfere with patrons of any business, make physical contact with anyone, threaten anyone, etc. and you get arrested. What a crazy idea! Enforcing the law to control "protesters" and protect the police and good citizens. Apparently not going to happen on this department.
