- SCC, I have one for you and the chaplains to be paid. Cook Sheriff 24/7 court Markham lockup on Friday had an inmate who died in custody. Here is the kicker...……. When the guy died the Sheriff had NO supervisor on duty in the lockup from 7-11pm in effort to save on overtime. They reportedly only had one male officer and the inmates body wasn't found until several hours after he injured himself. Sheriff Dart hasn't hired a court officer for 12 years due to his bloated budget and just paid out a 3.5 million dollar suit in the same facility. Now he probably was trying to save a few hundred bucks working without a supervisor and now will pay out another huge lawsuit. Can you please post this cause officers are fed up being forced to work short even on the lockups and jail.
The media probably isn't reporting it because Dart hired a whole bunch of their family members at six-digit salaries, and then laid off deputies while leaving the bloated managers in place.

This is 100% true when guy was taken in the supervisor left at 7 and there was only one male deputy in lockup from 7-11pm. The powers downtown have been ordering no supervisor lately on duty to avoid overtime. How the guy died there's a lot of unconfirmed rumors going around but the fact is when he died there was no supervisor anywhere in the building. The unbelievable thing is the deputies have literally filed hundreds of staffing and working conditions complaints and even after the courthouse rape nothing has changed. But don't expect the media to care when it's golden boy tommy they even ignore inmate deaths. 24 in the last two years in sheriff's custody.

Is that legal to purposefully work without a supervisor on the clock in a lockup facility? Don't federal jail standards prohibit this.
How is one C/O suppose to process, fingerprint, all while doing checks on the inmates. And not to mention. Stay alive without adequate backup.
Why do you think the court rape happened. You have 2 deputies responsible for hundreds of inmates. dart has cut court staffing 75% and they are shocked mistakes happen when working shorthanded. The last deputy sheriff court class was in 2006. In the meantime the Sheriff has hired 400 directors, in mostly unnecessary jobs.
Here is another one he media protectors covered for Tommy toupee. Federal Judge ruled Tuesday that Sheriff Dart was solely responsible for hundreds of sexual assaults on female staff members. Nothing in slumtimes or trib about this.. no #metoo movment coverage for Tommy.
A federal judge refused to dismiss lawsuits from female public defenders and correctional officers who claim Cook County, Illinois, inmates have been exposing themselves and masturbating in front of them, a problem they say was exacerbated by a program rewarding detainees with pizza for not engaging in such behavior.
The lawsuits claim county officials not only failed to protect women who visit the jails for their job, but worsened the problem.
According to the women, Dart even created a program to reward serial harassers with pizza parties if they went 30 days without masturbating in front of the women.
“Perhaps not surprisingly, as a result of this program, detainees who had not previously engaged in such behavior were incentivized to do so in order to be eligible for a pizza reward thirty days later,” Judge Kennelly wrote in a 42-page opinion.
Dart had argued that the court should throw out the women’s equal protection claims because they had failed to show that men working within the jail system had received greater protections or that he had intended to discriminate against them because of their sex.
But Kennelly found that the women had done enough to support their claims at this point in the proceedings with specific facts, including allegations that Dart had created solutions to the problem only to reverse them.
That allegedly included handcuffing inmates and having them wear custom jumpsuits to prevent inmates from exposing themselves or masturbating. Dart abandoned the solutions because Campanelli had objected to the use of handcuffs, and some inmates had burned the jumpsuits using microwave ovens, according to court records.
The irony! To die in Cook County sheriffs custody at a location that does not have pizza.

Abolish TIF Districts there is plenty of money!
This man has no shame.
No surprise there. That lock up is terrible. I'm surprised they even were taking prisoners at all. They will find any reason to reject a body. And then when there IS someone there, half of the staff are lazy fucks who could care less if they do their jobs. Don't get me wrong, there are a number of solid guys and gals down there who know what they are doing, but a good number couldn't even pump gas if you told 'em where to put the nozzle.
I feel bad for the guys who actually care down there and want to do the job, but it's a god damn game every single night trying to get a prisoner over. I'm sure this situation is only going to make it worse.
Does anyone know the purpose of the new high rise with the fancy tile being built by the county at Ashland and Polk?
Wonder how much that monument costs, when the county says that it’s $82,000,000.00 short?

All of this falls on the County commissioners and Bullwinkle. The millions and millions of dollars that have been paid out on lawsuits related to Darts policies is truly amazing. Why have they not cracked down on this asshole? They control the money he gets. Start talking to people that actually work for the sheriff. Not his cronies. I believe any officer that has been there 20 years or more could actually tell commissions what should be cut and what is needed. But the public should start to ask where all their tax dollars are going.
Thankyou for posting something about Court Security. It's a matter of time before something happens that will make front page news. Cook County needs Court Deputies now. Even if county does what LA County does and just hire Sheriff Security Officers and make them non peace officer.

Unfortunately, the way to hammer this irresponsibility is by assigning responsibility via judicial remedy,both civil AND criminal.
True it is that this hurts taxpayers most, but it is voting taxpayers who elect the idiots who squander taxpayer money this way.
Look on the bright side. Using their ghetto lottery card and their cloward and piven card against them is a pretty sweet way to finally nail them.
As SCC points out, the politicians have abandoned paying off the police via fat pension and benefits packages, cops finally seeing it was all lies in the first place, in favor of paying off the MEDIA directly with 6 figure jobs...so long as that buys favorable press!
Theres 3 options.
1) look the other way some more just let it ride.
2) Arrest the crooked
3) Bleed them dry of money
Pick one of the three.

The County government has always been corrupt. The have far too many employees for what little is left of unencorparated lands in the county..
Tommy has made sure the dishonest media has been satisfied giving many of them and members of their family’s jobs making hundreds of thousands of dollars to nothing type jobs that keeps them quiet makes them shut up but it’s not enough money to hire more of the people that are needed more cards to keep the animals at bay!
The City is broke, the County is broke, and Illinois is broke. This is a prime example of failed liberal economics policy. How many miles you coppers got on your squads?

They stopped hiring Court Deputies under Uncle Mike
Privatize the court section , use court deputies in the Cook county jail .
It would save money ,private security is more alert at a lower pay scale .
