Crooked Contracts?
- In late 2011, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration gave a no-bid, five-year deal for $115 million to a politically connected partnership to operate and maintain O’Hare Airport’s in-house transit system — the People Mover.
Nearly seven years later, that partnership, called AOR Transit Joint Venture, is still on the job. That’s after being handed more duties, without competitive bidding, that have helped bring it an extra $58 million, records show.
Emanuel has pledged to open up government contracting opportunities. But his administration repeatedly has extended existing contracts, without seeking competing offers, on big public works jobs at O’Hare and at Midway Airport. The People Mover job is another example of that.
The Slum Times article lists another couple of crooked contracts, but let's be real - if you don't kick up to the Machine, you aren't going to be doing business anywhere in Chicago. And since the payout is so huge, the payoff is small potatoes.

I don’t fly much but the last three times I’ve been to ohare the people mover in terminal 2 going to the blue line is not operational. How do you keep a giant treadmill out of order for several months when you’re given $115 million dollars to keep it ... moving?? Oh yeah, you pay your friends to do it with no accountability.

That’s a big contract. Last weekend some of the walkways weren’t working in Midway Airport. That’s about right.
Alderman O'Shea was just named Chairman of the Aviation Committee.
Was that a reward for stripping police and fire widows of their health insurance?
Rahm is a tyrant who only cares about himself and his family. Just look at how his kids are being taken care of. Those are the only kids that he cares about. Children are being shot down on the streets of the south and west sides and he does absolutely nothing to stop the carnage. Now the mayhem is the new normal in Downtown Chicago. It is no longer safe to simply go Downtown for dinner as you may catch a stray bullet in “rahm’s Chicago”.

We know the 'joint venture' is between them and the Machine
"AOR" probably is an acronym for 'Asswipes omitting Republicans'
Rahm has been allowed to get away with anything because he is protected by the crooked FBI and the new phony us attorney John lausch.
Ferguson also refuses to do any investigation because Rahm told him not to. Any corruption by any black or brown politician is also allowed by phony Ferguson.
The ATS at O’Hare is so screwed up. It’s down Monday thru Friday for the next year for work/upgrades, yet no one is ever working on it. They have buses shuttleing people from terminal to terminal and the parking lots. Many people missing connecting flights because of this. Someone ordered new trains for the ATS at millions of dollars but ordered the wrong size ones, now they have to reduce the entire rail system at millions of more dollars (tax payer dollars that is).
"campaign contributions" aren't where the money is at....look elsewhere for those connections.
The People Mover ? Rahms administration cannot even get ahold of the masses of homeless dwellers in and about the airport. Welcome to Chicago. Just watch your luggage, don’t get too close because the stench and body lice might get to you.

Always been the case. Low ball the initial bid say for 3-5 yrs then after being awarded the contract start adding in the overruns and keep getting the extensions. A 3 year contract turns into 0 year contract at twice to three times the money

One can only imagine how deep the corruption went under the 8 year Obama administration. Any Obama friends were given total protection especially with Holder and Lynch and Comey incharge. They all were so sure Hillary would take the reigns and their protection would continue. Rahm was very tight with all of them. Hopefully some day it will all come out and people will go to jail. I still have no faith. Sessions is a mush.

I did work there and the place is FUBAR, at least the Chicago Department of Aviation is. One of the happiest days of my life was when I walked out of there.
At least the FAA and Feds run most operational aspects on the airfield.

When will someone report on the double bus service at Midway? One bus runs to the new rental car center and another bus runs to the parking garage just a few feet away. Most of the tine the buses are running empty or with just one person. The whole deal stinks to high heaven. Besides Rahn, who is making money off of the bus deal?

You cannot talk about Rahm unless you include Daley. Where do you think Rahm got the blueprint to screw the city? No one does shit until it is too fucking late. Rahm puts on the sweater and everyone kneels before him or does the same bullshit when Daley ran for office, "oh, there is no one else better". Now it is too late. Another couple of billion gone to friends and family. And not one opportunity really given to those who need a chance to make lives better. Softball, sure, but I also know my history. And history should not repeat itself.
