Newspaper Attacked
Amid all the chaos in Maryland following the shooting of some reporters, a few thoughts come to mind:
- This guy had a personal beef with the paper, losing a defamation suit against them back in 2012. That doesn't seem like the fault of the current White House occupant;
- All this whining about portraying the press as the enemy. Hasn't the media been painting everyone with a Confederate flag as a racist, Trump supporters as nazis and anyone who believes in border security as some sort of racist nazi?
- Where was this outrage when a Bernie Sanders supporter was targeting Republican members of Congress practicing for a charity baseball game? Or when "protestors" shut down the Trump rally here and elsewhere? Or when right leaning speakers were shut down on campuses across the nation?
- Which "comedian" was just on TV the other night wishing that someone had shot Justice Kennedy instead of President Kennedy? Some conservative wacko? Oh right, it wasn't.
- Which organizations have been pushing the completely dis-proven "#blm" narrative that has directly cost a large number of officers their jobs and their lives?
- How about the national coverage of TWO mass shootings in Chicago Monday to go with the total of 32 people having extra holes in their bodies that day? Oh wait, there wasn't any because "black" something something something.
Seems like selective outrage.

My kid was watching with me when this flashed on the news. Some reporter was touting the figure of 195 people have died in these “mass shootings”. I explained to her how tragic and horrible it was and most likely done by some deranged mental. I asked her how many people did she think were shot and killed in Chicago so far this year. When I pulled the figure of 215 already this year so far she could hardly believe it. Yeah, the front page stuff is horrible but no one, not one peep about the daily slaughter and out of control crime in Chicago. I also showed her the demographics

Your points well-taken PLUS the shooter's name - (well, what I heard was - Ramos) the shooter was described on MSNBC as "white". Ramos sounds Hispanic to me, but why say that as a description?
Funny how MSNBC (and NBC) were releasing the guy's name - before the Sheriff gave any confirmation to his name. I switched from FOX to MSNBC and I was amazed at how they "jumped the gun" (no pun intended).
That shooting overshadowed the President's visit to WI for the groundbreaking of FOXCONN in Racine County. Another "Positive" story about Trump overlooked in favor of a shooting that sounded like a personal beef between an individual and a single newspaper.
I guess if you live in Metro Chicago, five people dead is no big thing.
Just a typical weekend number before it gets hot. Then, it can be 8-10 dead and 30 wounded - but to paraphrase the final line to Jack Nicholson in Chinatown -

WLS AM also reported the shooter to be "white." Which I thought was strange to even mention. I mean, what exactly did his race have to do with anything at that point? Later, after it was revealed his name was "Ramos", there was no mention of ethnicity.

You're blaming the news for reporting a mass shooting over the President attending a groundbreaking ceremony in Wisconsin? Dead people always get the lead story. Don't be such a moron. The media does plenty of anti-Trump shit that you don't have to try so hard to manufacture it. Anything that lets them talk about how "evil" guns are, and push the gun control agenda, especially when the shooter isn't black, will always be the top story.
Whenever my liberal friends get on the soap box about their freedom of speech rights I always bring up how the Dems shut down Trumps presidential rally at UIC & get the sound of crickets.
Was in rural Wisconsin last week. While waiting in line at grocery store I talked to the locals about how 3500 people were shot in Chicago last year. I said could you imagine everyone in this town being shot 4 times last year? I also said we have to pay $0.07 per plastic bag.
They looked at me like I was from another planet.

Dude here has a point. Even if by some dark miracle the rabid left managed to get 38 states* to agree to a blanket gun ban, the reality is that it would be about as effective as Prohibition but with a double dose of public insurrection. And don't forget, the one socio-economic group they hate as much as suburban/rural gun owners is the one group that under their policy would have a monopoly on violence: cops and soldiers. Ponder that. And brush up on your machining and/or CAD skills; never hurts to be prepared, yeah?
*For reference, in the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton's much ballyhooed and boo-hooed "popular vote victory" got her 20 states, and Donald Trump got 30 states. Ponder this as well.
