Nice Court System

  • A La Raza street gang member who’s on parole for possessing a handgun with a defaced serial number was arrested in Streeterville on May 27. Police said officers saw Jonathan Castro and two others drinking in the 200 block of East Pearson near a car with its passenger side door open. An infant was in the car’s rear passenger seat, according to cops. Asked if anything of interest was in the car, Castro—who has “La Raza” tattooed on his face—told officers that there was a gun wrapped up in a shirt on the passenger floorboard, according to court records. Cops recovered a .38 caliber handgun that Castro allegedly admitted to owning.

Castro, 22, has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon - second offense. The Illinois Department of Corrections revoked his parole and he was shipped back to Stateville Correctional Center on Tuesday, according to state records. He will be discharged on July 28. At that time, his bail on the new firearms case will be $50,000 per Judge Michael Clancy. State records show that he was paroled in December after serving half of a two-year sentence for the previous firearms conviction.
So not only did a low bail NOT dissuade him from violating the State gun laws, it didn't seem to have stopped him from actually acquiring another gun....in less than two weeks....AFTER A CONVICTION FOR ANOTHER GUN CHARGE.

Bring back the previous Judges! they were moved from there positions due to political BULLSHIT.
because they were doing there Jobs. they call this pre-trial system the new bond court which is a bunch of Bullshit.when you give all these low bonds for agg battery to a police officer, resisting, spiting in a officer's face, robbing incident people, the list go on and on, so when you let criminals out on I-bonds and low Bonds Don't you think there will be even more crime! Not just police officers but everyone in cook county stay alert and please be careful. we obviously have politicians and Judges that are not to worried about the citizens of cook county.

Even gangbangers have a 2nd amendment rights. Imagine telling Billy the Kid he can't own a gun just because he ribbed some trains. Pfffft.

Sanctuary city in action. Sanctuary for illegal, sanctuary for criminals but no sanctuary for taxpayers footing the bill. Just larger bills to pay for sanctuary. Don't you love it.

The nations gang problem will not be solved until the Federal government declares them all terrorists organizations and treats them as such. Rico, is not enough got to come down hard and make the penalty so harsh that no one will join.

Liberal Democrat Crook County judges. The criminals are to be protected, at any cost. Remember the black caucus and Cook County Board president doesn't want any black criminals put in jail or prison.

Judges are just lawyers who are either too nuts or lazy to make a living chasing ambulances. There are rare exceptions, but these idiots seem to not care about protecting society.

one would think that even the dumb ass lawyers that populate the public defender system would explain to these guys what a bad idea it is to admit to a crime to cops.

So he was paroled in December and then got arrested again, meaning his release from custody has nothing to do with efforts to do away with the debtors’ prison and nothing to do with bail? Tell me if I’m reading that wrong or whether this is just another cooked-up, irrelevant anecdote meant to stir people up over bail reform.

Sanctuary City Privilege, here comes the first test case for acquittal, govmint payout and false arrest suit.
In about 3-4 years from now the lawful arrest will come back to haunt the involved.

Part of the on going metamorphosis of The Department, primarily due to the pandering efforts of schmucks for obama’s Task Force for 21st Century Policing and Rahm2019 & Beyond. Won over by every Democrat, low scoring Merit Hack, ACLU, COPRAh, IPRAh...so you know its going to happen...soon.

“Chicago Police Gang Database criticized for inaccuracies”

The Chicago Police Department plans to make changes to its gang member database following criticism that it's often inaccurate, outdated and racially skewed.

Chicago Inspector General Joseph Ferguson has held three public hearings regarding the database as part of an audit into how police gather data on gang members. The state Senate Public Health Committee has also heard from advocates seeking the elimination of the database.

"We don't know how it operates," Rachel Murphy, staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, said at a recent hearing. "We are really concerned about transparency."

Officers are instructed to document the known gang affiliation of those they arrest or stop in the street. Distinctive tattoos, information from informants and admissions from those arrested or stopped can lead to the designation.

The criteria are too broad and the database would be more useful if it was limited to listing individuals who commit gang-related crimes, critics said. The list also seems to unfairly target African-Americans and Hispanics, who account for 95 percent of the database.

The database is shared with other law enforcement agencies and could potentially lead to larger bail amounts or heftier sentences.

The department plans to make changes to how people are added to the database and create "explicit parameters," said Anthony Guglielmi, a police spokesman. Those added to the list will now be notified and allowed to appeal the designation, he said.
The data will no longer be shared with law enforcement agencies directly, though they will still have access to Chicago police arrest data.

...and knowing Rahm and KimmJongFxxx, all previous cases related to gang affiliations will be re-examined and paid out.

I am a bit confused as well, appears this guy wasn't out on bail, he was paroled.

His new bail will be $50k, presumably 10% of this amount when he his is discharged from violating his parole.

I am not sticking up for the Toni, Tommy, Kimmy, or anyone for that matter, I detest all of them, but feel that the point being made here doesn't apply to the overall matter of setting low bonds for scumbags.
