Something Weird Here (UPDATE: VERY Weird)

We've been following this story a bit, and are a bit confused as to what (and why) the media is attempting to cover up:
  • The family of longtime television reporter Elizabeth Brackett is thanking police and fire officials who came to the 76-year-old’s aid after she suffered critical injuries this week as she was biking on the Lakefront Trail.

Brackett’s family also said it was also “immensely grateful” to the good Samaritan who saw the former reporter for WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” and performed CPR until paramedics arrived and the staff at Stroger Hospital who are caring for Brackett. The family also asked for privacy in its statement.

“The family of Elizabeth Brackett is grateful for the outpouring of love and support shown by all of Chicago since her accident Wednesday,” the statement said.
An accident. So what's this then? So why not be specific?
  • Details of the Wednesday incident, which happened on a South Side stretch of the Lakefront Trail near 39th Street, weren’t clear.

Brackett had been training on her bicycle before someone found her on the bike path, her close friend and colleague Carol Marin told the Tribune.

Brackett’s family has told her colleagues that Brackett was found about 40 feet from the bike trail, which is not far from her South Side home, said Phil Ponce, host of “Chicago Tonight,” who has worked with Brackett since the 1990s.
Forty feet? So did she fall down an embankment? It's actually kind of flat there. Did she crawl to where she was found.....or was she dragged and this is yet another crime being covered up by the media even though the victim is one of their own?

So many more questions than answers.

UPDATE: Brackett passed away overnight, and the new article raises even more questions:
  • Little is known about Brackett’s accident Wednesday, which happened on a South Side stretch of the Lakefront Trail near 39th Street. Brackett’s family told her colleagues that she was found several feet from the bike trail, which is not far from her South Side home, said Phil Ponce, host of “Chicago Tonight.” A still-anonymous good Samaritan saw Brackett and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, according to the station. Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told WTTW that paramedics saw “no signs of trauma, no dirt, bruises, scrapes, contusions, anything that indicated she collided with something or had a fall or struck something.”

“We don’t know how she got there,” he told the station. Her family is hoping to identify the person who performed CPR on Brackett, the station reported Friday.
So now they've changed "40 feet" to "several feet," and the CFD found nothing to indicate a fall or collision.

The family wants to find whoever performed CPR on her.....we'll bet the detectives do, too.

Sounds like, to these people, perception IS more important than reality.

Until reality yanks you off your scooter, drags you by the hair, and proceeds to do.....what?

Yep.

Oh, Carol, oh Carol, what will you do, if this next happens to you?

Mum's the word?

WOW -- I watched all this on TV and nothing like this was even questioned.

It makes sense. I am sure the Media will not delve into it. That would make Chicago a scary place and shatter people's view that it is SO SAFE to do anything around the city.

Thanks for the "extra details". It really paints a different picture than what I see on TV (and I am monitoring ALL of them 2,5,7,9,& 32)

Not really. Nothing happened. Don't you get it yet? Nothing can help Brackett, she's dead. So that sacrifice has been made. To stir the pot with facts that might tarnish the cabal in power would knock all the orbits out of whack. People in power might lose their power. That would mean no more exclusive pre written stories telling the cabal's official side of the story for them to file. They might have to get up off their chairs and actually chase a story. The journalist investigators are extremely endangered, if not extinct. Jack Mabley, Len O'Connor before he switched to that newfangled TV thing, Mike Royko are all gone. Bob Greene stepped in it big time and is gone. Sure, Kass was Royko's legman, but he has been paid off. He isn't hungry for that gritty story anymore. Ben Joravsky and Mike Dumke over at the Reader have been a glint of sunlight, and now the Reader has been sold to The Crusader led by Dorothy Leavell. It's up to an insignificant blog to kick over anthills to see what crawls away. Are CFD run reports [if there are such things, I don't know] subject to FOI requests? These aren't normal people. They'd eat their offspring to save their spots, be able to live in the fantasy that exists away from feral urban thugs, and be able to blame conditions on everything other than themselves.

Its not gonna take too many more examples before so called reporters are hung out to dry as no longer a protected political class.

Some said cops would never be sacrificed at the alter of political correctness. They were dead wrong anout that, just as,we said all along.

The irony is vicious, because the way journalists will finally stand up to fight back is by telling the truth...another example of things we have been saying all along.

The criminal element has an arrogance that is always the downfall of tyrants.

Those who fancy themselves as ntouchable always end up touched when they least expect it. And by then, it is too late.

Elizabeth also would train in that area numerous times she knows the terrain. Any cameras anywhere in that area, any witnesses if there was a crime, strangely there is no reward being offered for information to find out exactly what happened to this poor lady. Here is the lady that has been part of the mainstream media for years, she did her job for years but yet the media is brushing this totally aside no investigation nothing. Close the casket on her life. Let’s hope there are some investigative reporters left that will look into this and not be blinded by City Hall bullshit. May God bless you Elizabeth no matter what, hopefully God will lead the way into finding out the truth exactly what happened to you!

In April of 2017, a woman was drug off the trail near that spot and raped by a westsider. That happened on a warm Sunday around 6pm. So it isn’t outside of the realm that Brackett was attacked in broad daylight. Restorative Justice has emboldened criminals. Apparently the target of choice for the latest spree of hate crimes old white ladies. Looking at these trends - this was not a tradejic accident. Pull all the videos and you’ll see a shithead or shitheads enter the area where she was attacked and exit it as well. And this person providing CPR who cannot be found? Sure buddy.

Looking up some things on crashing bike at speed:
Exactly a week ago, I crashed on my bicycle doing somewhere between 20 and 30 mph. I think what happened* was that I lifted up to adjust myself on the seat and slipped off the pedal. I remember getting tangled up and wobbling around, and then I hit the ground on my left side. I heard a loud snap and was sure I broke my arm, but it turned out to just be my metal watch band breaking.

Final damage report: small scrape on my left knee; large scrape on my elbow, about the size of 1.5 of the largest Band-Aids they sell; bruise on the right side of my left knee, possibly from bike impact; severe bruise on the bottom of my right thigh, no idea what from. Bike has scrapes on the left grip, brake lever, and shifter. My body protected the rest of it from serious damage.

None of these injuries have healed fully yet. Short answer: it hurts a lot, in really annoying ways, even if you're lucky enough not to break anything.

*Parting ways with a bicycle at speed is not a lethal event. You'll gain a closer perspective on the term "road rash," but the true danger lies in solid objects getting in the way of your forward progression. The worst crash I ever had was only at about 18mph, and would have been pretty much a non-event were it not for a telephone pole which took one for the team at my expense. With that said, yes, either way there will be pain. Lots of that.

*I mountain bike almost daily on some fairly tight single track and I've hit trees at speed, it hurts and you'll know it hurts, a lot. But you recover pretty quickly unless you do get unlucky enough to break something. You'll also understand that helmets do work, as do gloves. Wear the gear and ride, if you wreck stay loose.

Here is the site:
https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?t=1175064
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

So looking at all this makes you really wonder is the media covering up a possible attack by a savage? She was a professional rider,in great shape thrown at least 40 feet and hey rahm no cameras anywhere here hero?

There is no way a competing triathlete dies in training on the bike. I know she was an age group champ and it was a sprint distance. There is still no way. People who are good are better on their bike than their car. Bike crashes during training / racing happen but heart attack / strokes occur during the swim portion of a race - not during a bike ride near your house. She was way fitter than most 40 year old men.

She would be on the path if an accident / heart attack happened. It wasn't an accident.

I carry on that bike path all the time. It’s legal to carry on a bike path as long as you aren’t stopping in the park. It isn’t safe out there. Too many real gangsters in the parking lots of roving bands of teenagers on the path. They are going to get bored and I know it’s only a matter of time until someone tries to role me out there. I was grateful for the two bike cops I fell in behind tonight’s gut heading south. They were moving slower than I was traveling, but having an armed escort took the burden off of me for 10 minutes.

The injured, now deceased, was an on-air member of the media and she is a person of note in Chicago and especially in her neighborhood of Hyde Park. Plus the information released was sparse and some of it conflicted, such as exactly where she was found in relation to the bike path, was her helmet cracked or not and was the bike discovered near her or is it in the wind? Then add the location of occurrence, which is known to have been problematic in the past, and the unexplained vertebrae fractures. Plus, there is the invisible and unknown good Samaritan, the unknown identity of the 911 caller and the identity of the other witness who claimed to have seen her sitting, then in a supine position and then seeing her lips were blue. Where are these people? You do not have to be a grizzled veteran of many terrible crime scenes to wonder about the circumstances in this instance. Any reasonable person would think there is more to this story and they would be correct. It might turn out to be solely a fatal heart attack, but at this juncture, it is not reasonable to think there is enough information known at this time to firmly assert it was nothing more.

Nothing wrong with asking questions and trying to get the facts straight. An outwardly healthy person dies in a dangerous area you ask questions. You do your due diligence and do your best for the deceased, their family, and the community. And sometimes you find that your worst fears were unjustified. It is hard not to be cynical in a city where the official story is often a lie, but sometimes the facts just tell a simple unfortunate story.

Until the medical examiner published his best guess, the tumble part was not a definite and the neck vertebrae fractures were unexplained. And, I object with your irreverent use of "old lady". She was an elderly lady and officially a senior citizen, but she was not an old lady.

Also, if you are the police, you are a blow-off artist for sure, but I doubt you are in law enforcement. Although you are very impressed with yourself, it is apparent you are just some blowhard who thinks they are smarter than everybody else.

Even given the current medical report, looking for a witness to be sure that her accident was not caused by someone trying to push or attack her is justified. This is an area where attacks are not uncommon and people are sometimes shoved while on their bikes. Kicking or shoving the bike of someone going 30 MPH can cause a fatal accident. Nothing evil may have occurred here, but asking questions, looking for witnesses, is the job.

An old lady takes a tumble off a bike and you call her vertebrae fractures "unexplained?"

6/20/2018 05:01:00 PM

Until the medical examiner published his best guess, the tumble part was not a definite and the neck vertebrae fractures were unexplained. And, I object with your irreverent use of "old lady". She was an elderly lady and officially a senior citizen, but she was not an old lady.

Also, if you are the police, you are a blow-off artist for sure, but I doubt you are in law enforcement. Although you are very impressed with yourself, it is apparent you are just some blowhard who thinks they are smarter than everybody else.

6/21/2018 12:42:00 AM

A blow-off artist? Really? Because I'm not seeing conspiracies everywhere? Did it ever occur to you that the media circled the wagons for no other reason than to give the family privacy? And if you're the police, you're just another blowhard who can't come up with an argument to counter anyone who disagrees with you except to say that he or she is not the police. You're the one who thinks he or she is smarter than everyone else.

You are a serious head-case. And, your reading comprehension is really poor. You claim I cannot come up with an argument to counter anyone who disagrees with me except to say he or she is not the police. Go back and check. I stated my case at length on 6/20/2018 01:56:00 AM which was before the medical examiner's office published their best guess. Your response was limited to scoffing at one small part, i.e. "An old lady takes a tumble off a bike and you call her vertebrae fractures unexplained?" At that moment in time, the fractures were unexplained to all, except for you because you apparently are clairvoyant.

Also, are you confirming there is a code of silence amongst the media? Thank you for the revelation. It has been long-suspected. Circling the wagons for ANY reason by any entity is not acceptable. Full disclosure and transparency are the code society demands. But the media can pick and choose when and how they reveal or do not reveal information? Not so. The media must adhere to the same standard they demand from ALL others. There is no protecting anyone for any reason. What is good for the goose is good for the media, too.

Finally, I do not believe I am smarter than everyone else, which is why I know all the questions need to be asked and answered in an instance of this nature. You, otoh, have the luxury to jump to a conclusion with no consequences when, and if, you are proven wrong because, not being otj, COPA will not be hunting for your scalp when they do their Monday morning quarterbacking and discover you just decided to gloss over a few important questions and answers because you are too smart for details.

No.

Because the media, especially in this town and county, don't give a fuck about the things that decent people do.

Not one single fuck.

They are all about themselves, each and every single one.

There is no friendship in the media, only beneficial acquintances, connections, associations, barter based transactions, etc.

Were it possible to be worse than politicians, they'd be worse. As it's not possible, they are precisely the same shit.

So, no, not even for a moment should this possibilty be considered.

The media will always hunker down until they have gotten the go ahead to spout the lies that are then backed up by the politicians' lies.

Any exceptions ever experienced on this are proof that either someone fucked up effectively selling the lies, the lies cannot be kept from being exposed as lies, thus the spinning of the actual truths to appear less damning, or the lies thusly exposed lead to criminal indictment(s), which is then followed by more spinnings, whilst the offender(s) are summarily dismissed as not typical democrats. Or, in the case of cunt repubs in sham only, declared AS typical republicans.

So, go fuck yourself.

No one wants, to, nor will continue to, tolerate your shit dick, slick shit anymore.

The official conclusion must be that no evil occurred, since evil has been banned from the purity of the sanctury city of the Rimjob mayor.

To 6/21/2018 06:37:00 PM:

It's your reading comprehension that's poor. I was responding to your response to my initial remark in which you called me a blow-off artist. I'm sorry you were offended by my (perhaps insensitive) use of the term "old lady." So let me re-phrase that for you: A 76-year-old woman (even though she's an expert age-group triathlete) who routinely rides a bicycle 30 to 40 miles per hour, takes a tumble from her bike and you are suspicious of her spinal injuries? And no, I'm not too smart for details. Not being privy to the official reports of the incident at the time, I thought from the beginning that common sense dictated that this was just a horrible accident. And that the media's varying accounts of the incident made me think that much of the reporting was just the usual sloppy Chicago way, not some conspiracy to cover up a non-existent crime. And yes, I said that the media circled the wagons to give the family privacy. But you jumped to the conclusion that I feel that this is acceptable, and that is entirely untrue-I don't. And not being a member of the media, I really am unable to confirm that there is a code of silence amongst its members. But thanks for the condescending lesson on journalism, as well as for the silly and untrue assumptions you made about my mental stability and job status.

You seem to be taking this case personally.

I have explained all to you ad nauseam. Your reading skills, comprehension skills and mental acuity are shown to be seriously challenged with every entry you post.

However, you mentioned common sense. I hope you have some of it. I will make an appeal to it.

Imagine if the 76 year-old woman in this instance was your mother, wife, daughter or a significant other whom you love with all your being and soul. Now imagine you are at home and your loved one rode away on her bicycle for her normal exercise routine about three hours previous. You hugged and kissed her goodbye and asked her to be careful. About the time she would normally arrive back at home, an investigator arrives at your door and informs you of her demise. You are literally knocked off your feet. When you are finally able to bring yourself to a slight bit of composure, your first question would be, "How?" Now also imagine the investigator says, "My common sense tells me it was an accident. That is how I am going to classify it and close the case. Where do you want the body to go? Do you have a funeral home in mind?"

If you are the least bit reasonable, I should not have to continue with the scenario, but because of the nonsense you have previously written on this forum, I must ask; would the investigator's response be sufficient for you? Would the explanation settle your mind?Would you be satisfied? Did it answer all your questions? Or, would you have no questions? Would you tell the investigator you agree and thank him or her for not wasting your time by making you suffer through a rendition of the details? Would you merely accept the investigator's conclusion and be able to just casually move forward with your life? A person does not have to be a conspiracy theorist to want answers. Do you follow?

While it is clear you are not a police officer and you claim you are not a member of the media, being neither, you have the luxury to be a no details needed/cut to the chase type. Police officers do not have that same luxury. Also, not ever having been a police officer, you should not even comment on this forum, but please tell me the title of your occupation. I will go to your blog and, without any knowledge other than an opinion formulated from who knows where, tell you how to professionally, competently, accurately and thoroughly perform your job. Deal?

You seem to be taking an exchange of comments very personally.

An exchange which YOU began.

Ya stepped in it, now ya want to pretend you can clean it off by pretending you didn't.

Yep. A democrat.
