Hello? Outrage??
- A suburban Cook County Pace bus driver, accused of twice sexually assaulting a passenger who was traveling from a cerebral palsy treatment center, has gone free after posting a bail deposit of just $400. And, now, the judge who lowered his bail has removed the man from electronic monitoring.
Prosecutors alleged that on at least two occasions in January, 60-year-old Burnell Johnson parked his PACE bus, covered a surveillance camera with his hat, and then sexually assaulted a 33-year-old female passenger who is visually impaired and has cerebral palsy. The victim could not give legal consent because she functions as a six-year-old, according to prosecutors. Burnell also told the woman to send sexually explicit photos of herself to him, prosecutors said.
He was charged with FIVE felonies and saw numerous judges before getting out on a $400 bond:
- Judge David Navarro ordered him held without bail.
On June 12, Judge Eulalia De La Rosa reaffirmed Johnson’s no-bail status.
Three days later, Johnson was in court again—standing before Cook County Judge Stanley Hill.
According to a source, Hill asked a relative of Johnson's how much the family could afford to pay as bond. The relative—a retired court clerk who used to work in the same courthouse as Judge Hill, according to the source—said $400.
And the bond conditions are ridiculous in the extreme:
- Last Friday, Hill vacated his electronic monitoring order effective immediately. Johnson is now free, off of electronic monitoring, with $400 as a security deposit. Hill's written order stipulates “(1) zero tolerance for alcohol or drug + (2) random urine drops + no driving + continue attendance at…church.” Hill also set a "24/7 curfew" and reiterated that Johnson is to stay away from children.
What is a "24/7 curfew"? Especially when he can leave the house for church? These judges need to be stopped.

The answer is not to vote no on all judges. The first judge held him with no bail and the second judge reaffirmed the no bail order. They did nothing wrong, but everything right. Why vote no against them
As far as good judges cleaning up the rolls, judges are basically independent and are elected. Analogy would be to have police officers cleaning up the rolls of the CPD.

Preckwinkle told Evans to implement the "Affordable Bail" as part of her unilateral "Restorative Justice" plan. Neither of them are going to object to this fucking bullshit in the least.
The Legislature needs to set bail amounts for each crime rather than leaving it up to the Judges. Along with mandatory forfeiture requirements, return to prison w/o passing Go requirements, etc.
No more of this bullshit home or electronic monitoring either.
And finally to put the cherry on top: If the Judge, Sheriff, Warden, and/or Prosecutor don't follow the law to the fucking letter and spirit - then they go straight to jail for 100 years, no parole, no pensions, nothing. Sit there and fucking rot.

When you see Murder, Att Murder, Agg Batt etc on rap sheet and the defendant pleads to a lesser charge or near the minimum time you can bet the witnesses/victims are now: 1) Dead, 2) Locked up themselves, 3) uncooperative, or 4) can’t be located. Now, this Stanley Hill is really POS but saying vote them all out is just stupid.
What the hell does church have to do with this? This fella essentially took advantage of a child (an adult with the mental capacity of a child). Twice. Guess what the bail was when a guy was accused of that in my town? (not convicted, mind you, just arrested) It was 100k, then 250k.
Judge Stanley Hill is a fella too. It went from 'no bail' - which is rare in that the person is at extreme threat to reoffend down to just four hundred bucks. No 50k, 20k. $400. Jesus. I just see one fella scratching another fella's back here. That's all.

What does is it tell you that judge hill isn’t even close to the worst at Maybrook. I’ve had numerous asa’s tell me Maybrook is by far the worst courthouse in the county. These were felony trial room asa’s who had been all over the county.

If enough people did vote out the judges, that creates openings in the court and new judges will be appointed. Than the next election cycle we have the same problem. There has to be a better system than having the Madigan party appoint/slate judges.
This is part of the laundry list of reasons that my family and I are leaving this city forever this summer. My kid even got into an almighty selective enrollment high school — that stopped playing the national anthem in the morning because a few kids got snotty about it. Nothing makes it worth it to stay here anymore. We’re off to a red state and not looking back. God bless you guys and gals.

I have been a Chicago cop and now in the burbs. Maywood has by far the worst judges period. I bonds for CSA and not guilty on all misd trials. Judge Hill, Kull, Leeming, Ocasio and are led by Ingram. All junk. Ingram advised all the judges to no sign search warrants unless they are the on duty Judge who never answers his phone. Judge Vasquez is the only judge that will bend over backwards to help us out.
