Mayoral Field Shrinks
Not exactly shrinks, but one less challenger on the horizon:
- Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer said Saturday that she will not join the race to unseat Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the 2019 election.
For months, Gainer had appeared poised to jump into the crowded field of contenders. She was viewed as a major potential threat to Emanuel who could draw votes from women as well as residents of both the Northwest and Southwest sides — and who had more cash in her campaign coffers than any challenger.
“I love Chicago and want to move it forward, and for me the biggest part of the decision is, where can I have the most impact?” Gainer said. “Right now, I think i can have most impact on the outside.”
Rahm must have decided he had enough splits among the white voters.

She knows it’s a big field. Who ever is running to win it is going to have to put in a lot of time, energy and all their money.

There is a physician on-duty at the Supreme Court when any or all of the Supremes are in the building. He tends to stay close to Ginzies office just in case. The old prune will probably outlive the doctor and attend his memorial service.
In the four polls out there GMAC is a strong second to Rahm. Vallas still in single digits. The Greeks are giving GMAC money, not Vallas who is unelectable.
19th Ward has a trick up thier sleeve and Rahm is worried about this one. They have a army of backers that extend to the North, they have a plan for the corrupted board of education, will take the corruption out of the airports, and will be tough on crime by taking the politics out of it and introducing strategies that work. So be patient announcement is coming soon. He will need all tax paying hard working citizens to back him.
Vallas has no money or poll numbers.
I'm gonna take a guess but I think her oversight of the cook county pension committee is gonna prove to be a major thorn in her side. It might even force her resignation.
