- As family and friends gathered outside Stroger Hospital awaiting news of three children taken there following a shooting in Lawndale in which a 20-year-old man was also injured, more ambulances rushed into the parking lot.

Three children and one man were shot Friday night in Lawndale. From down the block, two people fired shots just after 8 p.m. into a group gathered on the 1100 block of South Troy Street, police said. Police said they have not yet determined whom the shooters were targeting, and no one was in custody. A 14-year-old boy shot in the head was in critical condition, a 10-year-old girl shot in the shoulder was in good condition and an 11-year-old boy shot in the ankle was in good condition at Stroger Hospital, police said. A 20-year-old man shot in the hands and hip had been stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The paramedics should have known better to distribute the transports to different nearby hospitals.

One thing I have noticed over the years is the newspapers when constructing a headline use the word, Police or Chicago Police followed by a colon then the headline. Examples would be: Chicago Police: Man shot in Englewood or Police: Teen wounded So when you read the the actual story the reporter was just reporting what the police had said, that a man was shot in Englewood or a teen was wounded. The police were not involved. There is a lot of psychology behind headlines. What they are doing is to grab the readers attention,shock them, invoke some emotion and leave an impression. There have been journalism studies that point out 8 out of 10 people will read a headline but only 2 out of the 10 will read the story. So now we have that word "police" attached to man shot or teen wounded. For the person just scanning the headline it appears that the police are involved in another shooting. They have left that impression.
If you are a responsible parent there's no way you can let your kids out alone in Chicago without being with them. I don't even let the dogs out in the fenced in yard by themselves. This is 2018 not 1950, times have changed for the worst in Chicago. And I may point out all the Democrat politicans that have caused all these problems and destroyed all our major cities. Your policies are killing us.

Strange, of the multitude of folks shot and/or killed over the past couple of days, the newspaper makes no mention of their ethnicity or race. Ethnicity/race is very important to the various government agencies. Almost every form you fill out asks you what ethnic or racial group you belong to. Why are journalists ignoring this valuable data?

It was probably just a gang related grade school dispute that went south. It’s becoming the new norm. Maybe a rush hour March to shut down I-190 can be organized. Making people miss their international flights will certainly raise awareness.

If you have children, keep them far, far away from any gangbangs. I don't care if the banger is their father, uncle, brother, grandmother. Doesn't matter if you're there. Mary Mitchell at it again in Sunday's Sun-Times. According to her, it's racism poor and simple. Well, she's right in a way. Back in 2008 while giving a speech in Philadelphia, then candidate Barack Obama said that it's time for us in the United States to have a meaningful discussion about race. Well, I'm still waiting for that discussion. The closest discussion president Obama ever had was the "beer summit" involving him, vp Biden, prof. Gates, and that poor Cambridge Sgt who had the misfortune of arresting Gates pursuant to a burglary call. Remember that?
Until we, as a nation, admit that the only way to solve "race" problem is to understand that it is not acceptable to start having kids at 13, it's not acceptable to have scores of children out of wedlock, by an unknown number of men, that's acceptable to have two, three, or four generations on public assistance, it's not acceptable for men who father children to walk away from their responsibility, and it's not acceptable to stay quiet when innocent children are gunned down by other members of the community. Rather than lower our standards, how about reaching for the higher standards. Morality........we need to rediscover it fast.
If we ever get to that point, then we are on our way to where this society should be.

We as the public, want pod cams to be displayed within 30 days. Let's be transparent. I want to see both sides. If the police are bad is going to be shoved down my throat, then I want to see the public interacting with the police.

It's members of your community shooting/killing other members of your community. Solve your own problems for a change. You want the Police to solve your problems then protest when they put there lives on the line for you. So now you can solve your own problems they are not my problems and never were.
Stop all proactive policing in anti-police areas like Englewood, Austin, Back of the Yards, and step up policing in police friendly areas like 016 and 022. Let them destroy their own while we protect our own.
