The New Futility
- There is so much ridiculous news coming out of California these days – jail time for providing plastic straws, driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, sanctuary cities…it’s almost too much to keep up with. There is so much insanity that Americans might not be aware of another Krazy Kalifornia™ measure that has been burdening the state and law-abiding citizens since 2014.
Prop 47 – deceptively (of course) monikered as the Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act – reduced the threshold for felonies, categorizing most non-violent crimes as misdemeanors in an attempt to reduce the prison population. The result has been an increase in petty crimes as most go unpunished. Police are unable to hold those committing petty crimes and thus the perpetrators are simply released back into the population to continue their offenses. Petty criminals know this and have been offending with near complete impunity over the last few years.
Prop 47 required a downgrade in jail-able offenses. And what happened?
- Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says that he has no doubts at all that Prop 47 is creating a crime wave that he’s witnessed personally as a law enforcement officer.
“There’s an individual we have arrested 83 times since Prop 47 has passed, all on petty thefts, 83 times,” said Dyer.
Dyer will never shy away from his feelings about Prop 47, especially during a time where there’s 18 fewer murders in the city compared to last year, Dyer is seeing a spike in thefts.
He says it’s happening everyday. “That’s their job, that’s their career, there embolden [sic] to do it because there’s no consequences.”
And Chicago is currently in the thrall of it also.

Honestly, if I have to make an arrest by signed complaints, give me the person arrested 83 times who is aware of the system. They’re cooperative, polite, and know we’re doing our job as much as they’re doing theirs. Obviously don’t be complacent, but if there’s an opportunity to arrest the same person then do it! It is another New Age form of fetality
The difference between California and Chicago is parts of California are usually on fire! Other than that they are both radical left wing socialistic centers of stupidity.
The democrats are losers. They have no ideas or solutions. There only goal is to decriminalize laws, have sanctuary citys, unload the prisons, open the borders to anyone that wants to come here from all over the world. And the purpose is to get as many voters as possible because they have no use for middle class Americans. Their goal is a one party system in America .They value illegals more than you.
Folks need to make a living and this is the way some folks get their money for stuff and/or to support their family. What is even better, they do not need to go to an expensive to run private or government school to learn their trade. It is like a free education.
Here is a thought, leave pot smokers alone, and arrest the thieves instead!

I like the idea, but honestly, we’d also have to build a really solid and huge wall, and militarise it, because once they got their “unintended consequences” (as always), they’d be doing just what the third world does now, scrambling to come to our side (and then yelling about we how we “oppress” them, but they can’t stay the freak away from their supposed “oppressors”). We’d have to make the border like the Iron Curtain to keep those entitled leeches away from us, so we can’t “oppress” them.

Give them LA, Frisco and Sacramental; Crook County to Milwaukee; NYC, CT, RI, and Mass down through Philly, Maryland, Delaware, DC and Northern VA. In five years they will collapse and we can make them all territories until they straighten their act up.
California also changed the law regarding intentionally passing HIV to another person. It had been a felony and it is now just a misdemeanor. Imagine someone purposely infecting a ton of people and just getting charged with a misdemeanor. That state needs to sink already.
Look at what people in California have to live through: democrat government, high taxes, floods, droughts, mud-slides, terrible forest/brush fires, earthquakes, heatwaves, snow avalanches, no water, too much water, dams breaking, pooping in the down town streets, and the whole state is a sanctuary state. The place is a major disaster area.
The only good thing about CA. is when you think nobody could be stupider then IL. you realize there is someone even stupider.
Hmmm... it would be less expensive to charter a few (hundred) busses and provide free one way transport to California for Chicago's Criminal-Americans than it would be to keep them here. A win-win situation, they get warm weather and immunity for their acts and we get rid of non taxpayers. Put me down for a C-Note to help defray the transportation costs.

I have always suspected that swift and sure punishment was probably at least as important as how severe the punishment is. there are a lot of places where even misdemeanour offences take a year or more to get into court.
because there are an inadequate number of prosecutors, judges, and public defenders, it takes way too long for the process to play out.
There are no quick or cheap fixes.

Interesting that democratic Assemblyman Jim Cooper from Elk Grove, CA tried to make a change to Prop 47. Currently a theft crime has to involve $950 worth of property in a single incident to rise to a felony. He wanted to change that to $950 in one year to make it a felony. His proposal was still very liberal but it was shelved. Another democrat proposed a bill to tackle the retail theft crews, Assembly Bill 1085, but it too was gutless. Not sure what happened to it. "AB 1065 ignores the damage serial theft is having on small business owners, especially on the small family owned stores that serve our most vulnerable neighborhoods," Cooper said. The California Retail Association wouldn't support Cooper's bill saying, he had a different crime and punishment agenda and as an industry we don't really want any part of that fight. So keep letting the thugs, and career criminals walk off with $949 bucks worth of stuff in a trip and only get a slap on the wrist.
Read about the homeless problems in SF. After more than 500 million spent in just two years things are no better and their mayor just spent another 25 plus million. People are finally complaining. But why complain, isn't this the progressive utopia you asked for?

They have taken away any teeth the Justice system may have had for most any crime short of murder. Property crimes are on a steep rise. And, believe it or not, some DV crimes have even been downgraded to the point where there is no time involved after conviction. No deterrent=No reason to toe the line. Yes indeed. I’ve even seen a few post-election articles in leftist media encouraging them to do just that, because the Electoral College doesn’t favor them in the short term for presidential elections in the current population spread (the leftists are concentrated in and around large cities), and because they’ve lost so very many state legislatures. They’d like to do away with the Electoral College, make the HoR larger, or make the Senate population-proportionate, but they know those ideas won’t get past “flyover” America for now.
Since for now they can’t socially-engineer the right into living where they want us to, they would have to do the moving (infecting) themselves.
