More Time Due Restrictions?

So this weekend (11th, 12th) was already restricted due to Billiken and a Soldier Field concert.

And now, next weekend is restricted (18th, 19th) because of the Air and Water Show.

Not only that, with this "redeployment," tactical teams aren't going to see a day off before September ends.

Just our opinion and all, but the FOP (and PBPA) ought to be using this as an opportunity to bring the Contracts up to snuff with other unions in town, including
  • Double-time for anything over 12 hours;
  • Double-time for first 8 hours of a sixth or seventh day worked;
  • Double-time-and-one half for OT after that
  • Triple-time for cancelled holidays and the like
Make it too expensive to not hire up to strength.

Hey SCC, stop making so much sense!!! Plus we need a union that actually has the balls to make demands rather than bend over the barrels for Rahm.

Might work; however, more likely the politicos' will just raise taxes to pay for all the OT. After all the idea is to destroy police morale, not to make it fair to the coppers.

Majority of people that work all this overtime are in units or tac sat etc. They choose to work those assignments and can leave whenever they want.

I have brought this up to FLOP many times over the years. Cancel days off and the City pays and then the City would never do it. Just look @ ATT overtime contract rules.

The cancelled holiday is the one that really pisses people off. You can only take time for 20 of the hours and can only be paid for four hours? That one hasn’t sat right since it first happened to me in tact 15 years ago. Who the hell agreed to that garbage? But I agree, make it so uncomfortable that the city never wants to cancel days off.

Like the fire department like other departments the water department where they get double time triple time when this happens! Kevin Graham needs to push himself away from the buffet table in order to get something done, he is more silent than silent dean ridiculous when he gets away with like the fire department like other departments the water department where they get double time triple time when this happens!

You wonder when you become fraternal order of police president does the mayor send over an envelope full of cash for you and your family, does he promised you and your family jobs are there opportunities? That is the Chicago way and Inow Kevin is the benefactor of this largess.

Promote 200 Sergeants and 300 Detectives for a start. Has anyone actually counted how many “new officers” Rahm has added since he was first elected Mayor? His initial promise was 1,000 “new Officers.” Not reassigned, not promoted and not replacing retiring officers but “in addition to the current number of officers.”

I don’t understand why one of his political opponents don’t FOIA this information and use it against him. He’s had almost 8 years to fulfill this promise and he hasn’t made good. Now there’s out of control shootings and murders. Seems if Rahm would have followed through on his promise we wouldn’t have these problems today.

And if a FOIA request won’t release manpower stats due to public safety get the information another way. If one of these candidates aren’t able to get this information from a reliable source then they have no right running for office.

Gary step away from the Miller Lite and actually make a statement. It’s about police work your bread and butter wtf are you waiting for???

And yet they wonder why CPD officers are killing themselves at an alarming rate.

NO ONE WANTS TO BE FORCED TO WORK. Especially on the patrol level.

Everyone needs mental health time to unwind and enjoy whatever it is outside this job that brings them joy. I never considered starting over in another job considering our house, children’s schooling, great pay/job security associated with the job. But at what cost? Im young enough to still work another police department and will immediately begin looking at other departments. Im done with the city.

I know job actions are illegal, but now is the time to do something radical. The bloodshed and the chaos caused by the 2 Marches need to be addressed in a counter protest. Reach out to the Governor to call in the National Guard, to humiliate THE worst Mayor ever. The Black Community[sic] needs to be told NO more manpower which leads to MORE violent police interactions, unless the Men are held accountable and called out by the media when a homicide occurs. The news media needs to name the Offenders father and tell the story of both the Offender and the Victim and how the lack of a Father in both contributed to the incident. Something need to be done because the status quo isn't working.

Decertify the FLOP, they’ve had almost 40 years to prove themselves and each and every elected official is working for his own interests.
They have done some good things but overal not much has improved.

I no longer want to work my day off. I also do not want to police the seemingly unending stream of protests anywhere and everywhere. If they start canceling my days off, I'm going to retire. This isn't what I signed on for. You can have the mismanagement of the department, and the low manpower numbers. You can also have the restraining of the police from doing their job.

Crime is rising exponentially, and you can let some else be responsible for that. Good riddance.

Don’t fall for that shit. I worked 14 straight days after 9/11, boss refused to follow the 6th and 7th day clause. Filed a grievance, FLOP stated, they wouldn’t grieve it because it was an emergency. Shortshanks NEVER declared an emergency, which I pointed out to the FLOP. Their response, take one for the team.

Always, always vote for all canidates not in office for the FLOP.

To bad. Your worried about working two days off during 9/11? Who gives a shit what Daley declared Are you saying 9/11 wasn’t an emergency? I can’t believe during 9/11 you filed a grievance. Seems your more concerned about your time and half than 9/11. Some guys did the same as you as far as working and when days off we’re allowed took the bus to New York to do what they could to help during that crisis.

dont know about cfd but the water dept lost triple time about 20 years ago. we got double for ot and on holidays got double and kept our holiday pay. daley ended that so on a paid holiday you kept your holiday pay and got straight time working. they suddenly had a hard time getting guys out for a broken main in the projects at night. who would have thought? contracts were based on what the contractors paid their workers. double and a day only remained for xmas, new years and king day. short shanks also took away good friday. another dept daley and emmanuel ruined with political hires and merit bosses. used to be a working dept, just a shitshow dumping ground for aldermans drug addict kids now.

Why does our "Fraternal Order" allow the city to get away with depleting the ranks? The "Order" should be up in arms, and instructing members to not work the overtime. This would force the city to hire more. Seems like our "Fraternal Order" really doesn't have our best interest in mind, and are in bed wth the city.
