Rahm, Mr. Fenner Flap Gums

Is anyone in the media paying attention to where Rahm spends his weekends? Because it isn't anywhere near Chicago seeing as how he always has something to say Monday, but almost never as bad things are happening. Back in the day, if Royko wasn't drunk and Jacobson wasn't high, they might stake out the Hermitage house and find things out.

Anyway, there was a press conference, and no one mentioned pancakes or syrup this time:

• Mayor Rahm Emanuel and police Superintendent Eddie Johnson reacted angrily Monday to Chicago’s bloodiest weekend in more than two years, calling on neighbors to come forward to help police stem the runaway violence.
  
  “All of us know that this is not Chicago, what we saw,” an emotional Emanuel, sounding a familiar refrain as he seeks re-election to a third term, told reporters. “We are better than what we saw.”

What is this "We" you speak of? Rahm, Special Ed, the community don't seem to be very good at this whole "Chicago values" thing Rahm wants to run on. And now he wants the neighbors to come forward and what? Start snitching?

And once again....:

• At a late-morning news conference at the Gresham District station on the South Side, Johnson acknowledged in answer to a reporter’s question that no arrests had been made in any of the dozens of shootings over the weekend. He said detectives had promising leads in several shootings.

Not a single arrest? But "...promising leads." Sure. And the check is in the mail. Sure, I'll respect you in the morning. I never inhaled. My girlfriend didn't have the answers to the Lieutenants Test. Tell us another one.

Here's some fun facts we didn't see in the papers, but readers e-mailed to us:

• At the shooting scene in 010 on Lawndale, the ET's recovered over 60 shell casings from at least 4 different calibers. Not to be outdone, the Karlov scene in 011 tallied 80 pieces of brass;
• desperate to have people think doing anything is actually accomplishing something, the XO of 010 ordered all cars to drive around with their blue lights on as the body count rose;
• nearly half of the body count occurred in (guess where?) VRI BOXES! We don't know if that's true, but it would seem to be a logical question to be asking the Exempt Circus clowns;
• OEMC went to mandatory overtime because of the call volume. CFD Ambulances were backed up with a ridiculous number of jobs;
• multiple Districts held over entire watches due to the backlogs. 012 sent half of their midnight watch to 010/011 to help out and didn't have any cars available to respond to Stroger Hospital when the rival gangs started rioting in the ER.

Don't expect to see these things in the media - it might reflect badly on Rahm.
