Police Blamed for Suicide
- Neighbors and friends of Steven Rosenthal said Saturday that authorities’ account of the 16-year-old shooting himself while running from police in Lawndale was out of character for the Crane High School basketball player.
Rosenthal died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in the Friday evening encounter, officials said. According to Chicago police, officers spotted him with a gun and tried to stop him about 6:55 p.m. near his home in the 1500 block of South Keeler.
Rosenthal ran away, and then “tragically used the weapon on himself,” CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted after the shooting.
The ignorance on display here is amazing, astounding even. How do these people (or folks) remember to breathe on their own? WGN couldn't wait to find someone who wasn't there cast aspersions on the police:

USUALLY, one can shoot oneself in the head once. But these are truly special people here, sometimes they get shot in the head and it bounces off... or misses the brain. Sometimes even, they're under a sheet after being shot multiple times in the head with brain matter all over, and they're STILL considered alive...
So just because this guy shot himself in the head doesn't mean he's out of the game, at least by Communitie Standards :-)

That's happened before in the 80's, a new recruit was chasing an armed robber who dropped a sawed off rifle. The offender tried to hide under a porch and when the officer reach in to grab him, he swallowed the front sight. The officer at the time was in shock and thought no one would believe him. However, the offender in that suicide was white and it was no big deal. He was also a career criminal and it was determined, he just did not want to go back to prison.

Adrenaline rush makes people do crazy things it's a strange feeling especially running from the Police my guess is he accidentally shot himself finger on the trigger or was so afraid of the police possibly going to jail he shot himself only God knows now.

Yes of course you do. They won't apologize, nor will they say anything about the false information they were given. Instead, they will say that while the body cam footage or autopsy report shows that he killed himself, it doesn't answer why the police chased him in the first place. Then they will move on to another story.
Perhaps they can add a clause in the consent decree making the Super Soaker the new official duty weapon.
Two possible scenarios are yes he shot himself as he had been depressed over the deaths of his parents or he panicked and when the adrenaline kicked in he shot himself. Or since he had not graduated to marksman he mishandled the gun. In any case look at all the eyewitnesses that are coming out of the woodwork. They should be charged. And that lawyer was juicing up the crowd. As a supervisor I would arrive on the scene of shootings and ask the POs who were the eyewitnesses among the crowd. They would say nobody saw anything. I would say get some id and put their names in the report. They would respond but they didn't anything. My reasoning was they said didn't see anything now but when the lawyers are recruiting, concocting and rehearsing stories, all of a sudden they become the best eyewitnesses. Get those "didt see nutin" witnesses names down so they can't make up a story later. It makes things a lot easier. My best advice to you is do not pursue or engage anyone in these perilous times. Just do damn good reports that even trial lawyer sharks can't impeach.
