The FOP Stirs

  • In an unprecedented move, the Executive Board of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 (FOP) voted unanimously Tuesday to cease cooperation with the Chicago Tribunebecause of a powerful anti-police agenda at the newspaper together with an unwillingness by certain Tribune staff members to objectively report vital criminal justice issues.

The unanimous FOP vote comes in the wake of last weekend’s explosive violence, which led to the deaths of 13 individuals among 72 shootings across Chicago. While not a single bullet that struck the victims came from police fire, there was not a single mention in the Tribune of that salient fact.

That is one small example that has led to the FOP to cease cooperating with the Tribune. It is the newspaper’s dark alliance with the wrongful conviction movement that is the most troubling.
We don't know what extent the "cooperation" was supposed to be. The FOP has been inviting or holding press conferences for years and they're lucky to get a single print reporter to show up and maybe a mention on page 22. Almost all of the Trib articles nowadays are Washington Post or LA Times reprints and investigative reporting is non existent. They aren't exactly known for supporting the police, so good riddance.

Second, the FOP points out something we've been saying for years now:
  • The weekend bloodbath that left 71 people shot — 12 fatally — could be “a hint of what it is to come if the war on police continues” with a consent decree imposing “drastic new police oversight,” the police union is warning.

In a post this week on “The Watch,” the union’s blog, the Fraternal Order of Police notes the “explosion of violence” came less than a week after Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, who is not running for re-election, unveiled their proposal outlining the terms of federal court oversight over the Chicago Police Department.

“The FOP has argued that these measures will make policing even more difficult in Chicago, burdening officers with endless bureaucracy, paper work and ambiguous policies that ultimately will be used to arbitrarily discipline officers,” the blog post states. “Last weekend’s mayhem is a direct and chilling refutation of the entire argument posed by the talking heads from the city, attorney general and from groups like the ACLU to impose this proposed consent decree. It also may very well be a hint of what is to come if the war on the police continues.”
A disengaged police force is a city lost to crime. Meanwhile, the ACLU keeps spreading their lies:
  • Karen Sheley, director of the Police Practices Project for the ACLU, accused the FOP of continuing to “excuse Chicago’s violence by pointing fingers” at what she called “modest reforms to ensure officers follow the law.”

Sheley further argued that the union’s “continued fight against reform shows how badly” those changes are needed.

“Their contract effectively codifies the code of silence. The CPD has lost the trust of many in the black and Latino community to the extent that the department cannot solve murders and violent crimes,” Sheley said in the statement.
Has anyone ever outlined how the so-called "code of silence" is written into the Contract? Because we can't find it anywhere and we've read the thing back-to-front a few times and the Contract is far more strict when compared to other police forces and the FBI. Will someone in authority ask for specific instances of this "code"?

Some of these people are sports figures, some are actors and actresses, others are community rabble rousers, and yet still some are politicians and their puppets!

The Tribune has Never been a friend of the Chicago Police Department. And especially since Martin Preib, an elected FOP Official, single-handedly did more to expose the Innocence Movement's corrupt and illegal practices. Preib exposed the Self Righteous and vaunted, Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Remember, parents were spending tens of thousands of dollars a year, so Medill could literally pimp off their daughters to have sex with convicted felons, so the Innocence Project could railroad an innocent Black man! I wonder if Northwester provided condoms, for their coed "Hos"; of course, with the school colors on them. Meanwhile, the Tribune, protected the School and those involved. So nobody should be surprised at the Trib's actions, and every cop, should be proud of what the FOP did in this matter. Baby "G"

You can only say the same thing over and over so many times before you start to sound psychotic. Let this decree pass. They won’t learn of the ramifications of it until they see it with their own eyes. By then though, all of these hacks that pushed this decree (Rahm, Special Ed, and Madigan) will have been shown the door and will be somewhere on a beach. Stay safe, stay fetal. Answer your calls, back up other officers for safety and go home. Fuck being proactive. The bosses and community don’t want it? Let them watch their city fall into the abyss at there bequest.

The Trib currently is running two editorials that blame the violence on the lack of trust in the police, which is blamed on the past shootings. Nothing about the no-snitch culture. Nothing about the lack of parenting. Nothing on how gang membership is glorified in certain communities. Oh, and nothing is blamed on the gangbangers themselves, who are portrayed of victims of, you guessed it, "systematic racism".

The answers? Come down harder on cops who shoot fleeing suspects. Invest more money in the ghetto neighborhoods. More jobs. They forget that most gangbangers aren't qualified to do anything since they've never taken their education or even gaining job skills seriously. They can't even work at McDonald's because what will happen when some rude customer throws their burger at them for forgetting to leave the pickles off? And most of them aren't interested in the boring, low-paid jobs that are or could possibly be available, whether that's flipping burgers or working on an assembly line.

Anyone coming on this job nowadays really needs to do some sole searching and ask why. I just left after 20 years and age 49 and now live in Costa Rica. No protests here. You want to know who blocks my streets? Cows from time to time.

1,000 Homicides will be the new norm in a Consent Decree Chicago. The mass shootings will be the new norm in Chicago as the police will hopeless to disperse anarchy. The lack of young people willing to take the test is already apparent, but will grow to even worse when horrid conditions of the department and LACK of a Union Contract send the cream of the crop to other departments. Trying and failing to maintain 8,000 officers out of what used to be 13,500 and the new norm of roughly 6,000 will be burned out fast with a lot of turnover and corruption. Now is the time to stop this not down the road and it starts with dumping the Mayor and Superintendant and begging the DOJ to come in and investigate City Hall.

Don’t arrest anybody without signed complaints and make sure you see the ID of the complainant. And as for block parties, they will try and have you fired if you write any tickets. Contractual code of silence - what an idiot.

When your elected officials embrace and promote law breaking on many levels because of identity politics for political gain, the police “trust and respect” should be a dead issue.

+++++ Karen Sheley, director of the Police Practices Project for the ACLU, accused the FOP of continuing to “excuse Chicago’s violence by pointing fingers” at what she called “modest reforms to ensure officers follow the law.” +++++

This Karen Sheley person is a FRAUD and has NO business being 'anything' in regards to Police matters, let alone a 'Directer'.

The last time she was in the news, when that bullshit consent decree was last in the news, I looked up this woman's biography, going back to her college days. And lo-and-behold I found that not only DIDN'T she have a degree in Criminal Justice, she didn't have a degree even remotely related to the Law and Police.

Her work history after college, prior to going to the ACLU, was equally void of all things Police related. But hey, it's the ACLU, so credentials aren't required, only 'Feelings'. So if you hate police, and 'Feel' everything they do is wrong, it's good enough for those un-American assholes and they'll make you a 'Director'.

Rightfully, anything SHE says or recommends should have the same weight as something a random person has to say.

So let's go FOP. Do some background research on this women and discredit her for her lack of Educational and Professional Qualifications on Police Matters. She should not be taken seriously, so make people see that.

For somebody who doesn't give a fuck about

smug screed loudly condemning FOP for
taking belated action against the Fibune
for it's hypocrisy and mendacity.

Said screed being evidence of much
anti-Police butt-hurt on Eric's part.

Hmmm... Eric fancies himself some guardian
protecting the public from the eeee-vil Police
who have waaayyyy too many rights and
protections "cooked" into their contract by
their "too powerful" union.

Perhaps Eric is resentful that he stood in the
wrong line when choosing a career?

"I'm better and smarter than any of those blue
collar, bungalow dwelling, racist and angry,
conservative Union member churls who refuse
to acknowledge me as one of their social betters."

Maybe Eric nurses a grudge/resentment over the
contractual guarantees and protections that
Chicago Policemen have?

He conflates much and he knows it.

Somehow he has nothing to say about his
associates in the newsroom playing dirty pool
and running cover and shielding for the collusion
between the Medill School and local media regarding
the unethical to criminal conduct of those who ran,
pimped/pandered/whored-out young coeds
in the Innocence Project.

Dirty-Assed white slaving bastards ought to be
rotting alive in prison.

Fuck you Eric.

What the leadership and membership needs to do is to fund, staff and launch a city-wide police blog where the police and their supporters post every day about crime in each district. If this is legally possible anymore, allow anonymous comments so CPD and the public can provide information. The taxpayers need to know what's really going on and we are only going to hear it from the rank and file. There would be plenty of sponsors to support this. Get some professional journalists to run it. Believe it or not, there are many professional journalists who support law enforcement. We only hear about the anti-police journalists.

Forget about the Trib, print media is dead. People are getting their news online. The public wants to know what's really going on. Every district (and city-wide) needs a blog like the one in 19.

On SCC its been posted in the past that there are no more newspaper reporters. If you look at the Chicago Fibune and Scum Times you see in addition to the USA stuff contained in the Scum Times, everything is feature stories without any immediacy to necessity to read. In the Fibune you have Travel, Leisure, Arts and Farts, Food. Those employed as contributors are more often found on local TV and Radio stations because they've become media personalities. Not by cultivating subscribers but by other media personalities. As said many times before it bears repeating that the media are not your friends. Not Kass, not Brown, not Sneed or any of the other per diem stringers that might show up at one of your crime scenes. Think about it for a minute. When a TV news crew shows up on one of your jobs, what do they take video of. They intrude on the victim or their families, then they might show a street sign to establish location, but somewhere in that 55 second spot they're gonna show 20 coppers standing around talking to each other with the inference they're doing nothing but gawking. They certainly are there making you look responsive. Just an FYI.

I'm still confused by all this "trust" people are always talking about. We don't need trust, just a little civility would suffice.

how are cops portrayed on this show? i do not watch network television. the fucker in this picture does not evoke memories of officer friendly does it? your national union needs to start pushing back on how police are portrayed.

public has a perception of police and fucking hollywood does not help.

Not sure what your beef with the photo is all about. Is it because they’re out of a squad? Too handsome? No bump card?

Chicago only has PC reporters , no crime reporters on Chicago’s fake news answer The Who’s,what ,when ,where ,why, how questions.
Six armemed robberies in lake view neighborhood by person wearing red cap , lone females being robbed by two females posing as share ride drivers , woman being sexually assaulted by young men , group of young women and men attacking people on Mag Mile .
Just so happens victims are all white and yes young criminals are blacks.
They do say white man make PR lady uncomfortable for asking why she is wearing a PR flag shirt , he is charged with a felony .
