Prickwrinkle to Run
This is going to suck the air (and the fundraising) out of just about every minority candidate out there:
- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will announce her run for mayor this week, the chairman of the City Council’s Black Caucus said.
Ald. Rod Sawyer (6th) told the Sun-Times he talked to Preckwinkle on Monday and the veteran County Board president told him she plans to enter the crowded race.
Another alderman, who asked not to be identified, also said they’d been told by Preckwinkle she is in.
A spokesperson for the Preckwinkle camp, however, would not confirm any plans. Other sources said Preckwinkle’s announcement is scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m.
Prickwrinkle could have wiped the floor with Rahm last election, but she decided to stay out for whatever reasons. Supposedly, if she wins, she's going to keep both jobs - a feat not too dissimilar to Richard J keeping his position as the (A) Ward Committeeman, (B) Chairman, Cook County Democratic Party, and (C) mayor. It enabled Daley to run the slating committees and therefore, the Machine itself.

Apparently it is legal in Illinois to hold down several government gigs and have a side gig as well. Then collect full time pensions on all said jobs. Unfucking real that this is allowed to happen. How would she even time in the day for all of the positions? For that alone, she should not even be considered. Mayor is a full time job these days. Two, she is responsible for the carnage in the streets. And third, no more taxes.

Preckwinkle is no Richard J, and for that matter neither was Richard M. It is amazing and disturbing to see Chicago Politics sliding back to an era of a "Machine Boss", in the prosperous post WWII era. The times have changed, and it is doubtful that the remaining Whites and Latinos will so easily give in to as divisive a figure as Preckwinkle. The "Shugga" Tax is still fresh on everyone's mind, as is the mismanagement of County Government. The fact that Preckwinkle produced the current incompetent State's Attorney will also be remembered. If this is the play for Black Power to take over Chicago and Cook County, the timing is several years too late. Blacks are fleeing Chicago at a rate exceeding all other racial and ethnic groups. It will be interesting, but at this point, I hope she sustains a humiliating defeat. She is about as Left Wing as possible, and believes in high taxes, patronage and cronyism. Chicago is currently operating under a financial system that is very similar to a Ponzi scheme. Every citizen regardless of class will eventually lose and their leadership will walk away blaming those who came before them. It's not a question of if, only of when.

Preckwinkle already flexed some pre mayoral power when her son Kyle was arrested and charged with battery some years ago. He went to trail at misdemeanor court at 155 w. 51st where following a bench trial, was found not guilty.
Preckwinkle attended the hearings and stared down Judge Thomas Brewer throughout the trial to make sure the judge did the right thing for her rapidly apporaching forty years of age baby boy.
That kind of reminded me of the power Richie daley wielded when his son to a baseball bat to the head of a kid in Michigan, except Shortshanks got their crime lab head a cushy job in the crime lab here after that case went away...

attack last year.

True, but last night I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express with a beautiful proctologist.
