They can go ahead and cancel furloughs for Defcon 1, ill be on vacation with no cell phone service far outside Chicago.
I can’t wait until Herbert puts McCarthy, Eddie and any other exempt at the EMM shooting review on the stand.

Here is my take on what’s going to go down.
Judge swears in jury.
Judge dismisses the change of venue request and keeps case inside of cook county.
The trial begins and falls apart almost immediately. ( attorneys start bickering between defense and prosecution)
Court continues for one to two weeks the jury goes in closed room
Jury comes back with Hung jury.
Mistrial is called by judge and we start this all over again.
This starts the civil unrest throughout the city.
And we all get to wear our uniforms and deal with crap like when Bulls won the championship.
Get your flu shot and take your vitamins this is going to be a long few weeks.
Dont worry !!! Sheriffs got this handled !!

No video/audio recording allowed in court rooms so no it will not be on tv.

It is going to be interesting to finally see what all of the merit bosses said and put in their reports on the date of occurance and explain to the defense exactly what changed over the years to finally charge him. All of the CPD gold stars present, Felony review, OPS, Field Lieutenant, Watch Commander all there to investigate and take command. I hope they covered this type of heat in "Merit promotion school".
The only ones jammed up so far are the detectives and sergeants. What was put in everyone else's reports?
I never understood how for years they had those "round tables" when there was a officer involved shooting I am no lawyer but I would think that everyone who shows up and opens his mouth is a witness and should be put on the stand.
He can't get a fair trial here in Cook County, hopefully I'm wrong,and there's one juror who can think for themselves. Is today the day the decision comes down to move this out of Cook County? Prayers for him and all the men and women of CPD working these streets.

Overkill as usual. As the department plays videos of crowd control formations at roll calls, the new kids are looking on like scared deer in head lights. Not the police, but just ordered 1200 rounds of rifle and 1000 of pistol. I look at the purchase of ammo as an investment. Every riot, or large demonstration I know of that occurred in Chicago, has never spilled into neighborhoods that where not involved. Lastly, I don't believe the black community has the stomach for a riot that would destroy what little the south and westside has gained. However, the magic mile might be the target and not their homes and business. I'm plaining on staying put, my family and I are prepared to defend ourselves and property if necessary.
So they are housing the National Guard at the UIC Arena and UC? Hiding them inside with all their equipment is just cowardly.
I hope the judge knows how to hand the lying press and also work to see unpopular judgements are made when the public is distracted by something else like a big sports game.

Who is in charge? Why would you cancel all days of for this past weekend? The next month and a half could be one of the most dynamic moments in Chicago history. Why not get your (wo)men rested for what could be major civil unrest? He did not seem prepared, He skipped around on the timeline.
He was talking off the top of his head, not a prepared rehearsed
speach. He sounded like he was very unsure of himself and
unsure of the case.

And depending on the video you may not see everything or think you see something that is not really happening. The defense impeached the F/PO and then she was impeached by the prosecution. I doubt the jury will believe anything she said. But it is a long way to go.

They charged him with Murder & 16 counts of Age Batt. But start the trial as a Hate Crime that they are not trying to prove, just inflame the public and feed the media narrative. I hope the new consent decree adresses what Im supposed to do when offenders I happen upon or need to investigate / arrest are of a different racial code. Since Im a male White I don't want the accusation or even the appearance that my underlying motivation to arrest is not because of the call I would be respond to but the offender's race. I have 4 years left to be 55 when I can get the health care benefit, to bad I can't leave when Im maxed out. So for the next 4 years officers in my same situation will do less at the max pay rate and tell co workers to do the same. They will suck up all the overtime away from less jaded senior officers, crime will rise as they stand, sit, and watch the sights and clock. Its not that they are lazy, Its called self preservation. They see the underfunded pension and are gonna take all they can till they can move to a lower taxing state and sell their overvalued house draining even more money from the tax bases ability to pay. All the younger officers are gonna see the system fail like a ponzi scheme.

Her testimony wasn’t worth anything. They gave her immunity and she totally confused and couldn’t remember what she said prior. Couldn’t remember when or if she appeared before the grand jury. Had to to prepped and I don’t think that was a trick or surprise question. Also couldn’t remember if she was in or out of squad when he was shot, even after the replayed the video

I would suggest any officer on the frontlines of any potential riot to have that body camera secured.It would be a shame for 200 officer's cameras to be trampled on by those violent protesters in a scuffle.

If the professional protesters/agitators go to Michigan Ave, none of these bosses will give the order to stop them. They will be waiting and watching the mayhem from afar while they confer with an army of civil rights lawyers before making every little decision. Meanwhile, officers on the frontline will be getting all kinds of shit thrown at them, people fighting, breaking and burning whatever they can. I'd bet the farm that the police will be there only to protect these asshole rioters and their "right" to destroy everyone else property. Do you realize that proving Rahm lied about knowing about the shooting and paying off the family early will only prove that JVD's was not justified in shooting Laquan and that they were all trying to cover it up?
And so it begins.
My prediction: both sides screw the pooch, everyone starts grandstanding and it ends with either a mistrial or one of those "we really hate the defendant but reluctantly agree that no actual law was violated" verdicts like that one recent case. The south side burns in a deliciously ironic anniversary bookend to the summer of '68, the militant far left hippies' social experiments bearing their rotten fruit in full view of everyone. And come November, every Republican in the land cites the chaos as a basis for running on a law-and-order platform.
Not a LEO - I watched the Channel 5 NBC feed on my crappy laptop - the female latina PO that testified did a great job and came off as 100% credible - at least in my opinion.

To anyone who thinks the deceased offender was walking away. He wasn't walking away, He wasn't walking a direct line toward JVD either. JVD did not need a cover up. He acted within the law. The chain of command made the correct call. There was no cover up in the CPD, however, TD 9.5 shelved the tape because he believed the public perception of the tape would lead to him being ousted from office. The public perception of an incident and the legality of action taken by the police during that same incident usually differ. The law is suppose to be the final arbiter, however it usually does little to assuage the emotions of the public. OTOH, the public is unconcerned with legal action taken by the police versus illegal action. They want somebody to hang regardless of the law because perception combined with emotion is their reality. God bless JVD and his family.

Very unprofessional atmosphere and not how I remember things at 26th St...especially considering the magnitude of this case.
