Why 12-hour days begins before the jury even has directions, we don't know. But it did, here it is, we'll all have to deal with it.
Blogging, of course, will be slow. Schedules have suddenly been shifted, arrangements have to be made. Things won't be posted in a timely manner and might even be delayed if we need the sleep. We might even post some stale stuff just to have filler material.
We expect most of you will be busy, too, so much so you might not read or comment as you usually do. Keep your wits about you, stay safe, watch your backs and your partners backs regardless. We'll catch up with everyone at the bar afterwards.

All of this to cover Rahm's suppression of the video. Then there are flyers being posted with a photo of a house on North Kedvale. The caption reads: "This is Van Dyke's house. When the jury announces the verdict, let's gather and burn down Jason Van Dyke's house. Gather at _ _ _ _ N. Kedvale and lets roast the Pig." The Primary problem with the photo and address are that it is NOT Van Dyke's home or residence! So some poor sap may have his home damaged over utter stupidity! Get ready, we may be about to see Rahm's Chicago Values on full display for the entire world to laugh at! Be Careful, and Stay Strong. Baby "G"

So I will hit my 6th work day on Friday and 7th work day Saturday. Do we get anything extra for that
only officers besides DOGs 63, 64, 73 and 74, who will get 6th day OT rate if days off are cancelled, thru Saturday, will be school, CAPS and office staff because they work Mon thru Fri. If they have to come in Saturday they will get 6th day OT rate. Sunday is start of new week, so no 7th day OT rate.

So we start 12 hrs today. What happens if the jury is out to Tuesday or Wednesday? Most coppers will have spent 5, 6, 7 days on their feet for 12 hrs. a day. A lot of the coppers, especially the older ones, will be burnt out or close to it by then. If nothing happens, will the 3rd Watch get cut early to go home and get some rest? I doubt it. But the bosses in charge of this won't give a shit cause they will be getting their cat naps in, visiting home, eating healthy, and sitting around.

A large scale invasion of 016? If all do’s are cancelled and 12 hr days their will be plenty of police on the street or in reserve to be deployed to 016 if necessary to protect the home front. I am watching the closing argument from the defense. If I were on the jury, and I was NOT a racist (against POLICE OFFICERS), and I was a reasonable human being, I would absolutely declare JVD NOT GUILTY.
I pointed out before in another comment, that I, like everyone else, wondered why the "16 shots" were necessary.
This lawyer has made so perfectly clear that the dash cam video DID NOT TELL THE WHOLE STORY.
This lawyer is breathtaking. He certainly made the case that JVD determined, with all his training and knowlege as a cop, believed McDonald was a deadly threat that needed to be neutralized.
First degree murder is absolutely off the chart. Even second degree "murder" is ridiculous.

What is the judge releases the jury until Tuesday? With no possibility of a verdict will the city keep the entire police force on overtime for 5 days? If the judge releases the jury for the weekend then the 12-hour days should end and start up again on Tuesday. That way everybody will be fresh.

How does any officer going forward with future trials do so with the ASA’s handling this case, I understand it’s their job, but their bias towards CPD was prevalent in this case. I couldn’t look them in the eye and trust them.

Convicted of something...? Never looked like a good shoot to me. Following the trial didn't change that initial thought. It made it worse in some cases. Judge seemed fair to me. Not sure what your issue is. Try prunes and lots of fiber. The media is biased (but they have been that way, no one cares when the bias benefits them) and the scumbag county democrats run this state versus the scumbag republicans. With all that said it was always a bad shoot to me. Now someone being railroaded for a good shot...the poor copper in Nashville who shot a man in broad daylight, running with a gun in his hand. He got charged with murder. That's a cut and dry witch hunt. This was not.
When I read this I thought this is odd: "Supt. Eddie Johnson told the Chicago Tribune last week that officers will wear their regular uniforms and will not be equipped with riot gear such as helmets, ballistic shields and masks unless it is necessary. Additional officers would likely be out patrolling on horses and bicycles." If the higher ups feel this is serious enough to have 12 hour shifts and staging areas throughout the city then why shouldn't all officers be in full equipment for their protection. If the situation becomes necessary are the officers going to ask the rioters to hold on until they can get their equipment from wherever?

Article in the Tribune has two alternate jurors leaning towards guilty. One for 1st degree, and the other 2nd degree.
Hope for Jason Van Dyke the people on the jury see it differently.

How does any officer going forward with future trials do so with the ASA’s handling this case, I understand it’s their job, but their bias towards CPD was prevalent in this case. I couldn’t look them in the eye and trust them.

Dont worry, you wont have to; because if you were paying attention you would know that they are not Cook County States Attorney’s. They are States Attorneys from Kane and other counties who are just doing their job, as unpleasant as that may be. The fact that you did not recognize that fact, might indicate that you dont appear in court very often.

When I read this I thought this is odd: "Supt. Eddie Johnson told the Chicago Tribune last week that officers will wear their regular uniforms and will not be equipped with riot gear such as helmets, ballistic shields and masks unless it is necessary. Additional officers would likely be out patrolling on horses and bicycles." If the higher ups feel this is serious enough to have 12 hour shifts and staging areas throughout the city then why shouldn't all officers be in full equipment for their protection. If the situation becomes necessary are the officers going to ask the rioters to hold on until they can get their equipment from wherever?

Why would any officer have any contact with these ASA in the future? They are not Cook County states attorneys. It’s a special prosecutor with ASA’s from I believe Lake and Kankakee ciunties
Off the subject, fearless leader from our finest district the good ole 3rd, has told all of the watches NOT to wear black gloves. Can you believe that. And the whole 3rd watch is on foot patrol throughout the district 4 deep and just 2 po's on 68th and east end.

What is the judge releases the jury until Tuesday? With no possibility of a verdict will the city keep the entire police force on overtime for 5 days? Burn out your entire force before the deliberations really begin? Most likely that's what will happen. If the judge releases the jury for the weekend then the 12-hour days should end and start up again on Tuesday. That way everybody will be fresh.

Doesn’t work like that. Once they get the case it’s go time. They deliberate every day and go back to the hotel at night until there’s an outcome.

Quit whining about something that hasn’t happened and if you knew anything about the verdict you would know the jury is sequestered and the judge doesn’t release them. They deliberate over the weekend
