Non-Library Advances
- The City Council’s Committee on Housing and Real Estate Thursday unanimously approved an ordinance for the Obama Foundation to pay $10 for a 99-year agreement for the Obama Presidential Center, moving the foundation one step closer to being able to break ground on the project.
Before the vote, Ald. Raymond Lopez, (15th) and Ald. Deborah Mell, (33rd) pressed Obama Foundation members on the ongoing concerns that the center would displace longtime residents and that it would not be a presidential library.
But they still voted for it anyway. Real spines of steel among these alderassholes.

Why not build the Obama Library on the South side or West side of Chicago. It may create jobs and beautify the area ???????

There is plenty of vacant private property there that could be easily obtained without any shenanigans or slight of hand. No need to lease public property in a sketchy deal.

Why not charge the foundation rent???? Everything else in this city worth any value has been sold or leased. Park land has value to taxpayers - charge the foundation an appropriate rate. If they cannot or will not pay it, knock on Hawaii’s door. Chicago needs the money!!!!
Why build libraries? Books are obsolete.
The only thing most folks do at libraries is play on the computers or use the WiFi for their phones.

The central Committee of Environmental Regulation and Business Control has grave reservations to the proposed bookless library. The committee has legitimate concerns that corruption would leach into lake water contaminating the city's residents and surrounding communities that share the once fresh water supply. The fears is that Chicago will turn into a swamp much like D.C.
The central Environmental Committee is concerned that ugly pathogens such as nepotism, contract rigging, community activism, social justice, anti-police rhetoric and the worst of all taxation will infect generations to come in this petri dish of extreme left wing social experiments in the halls of this cerebral penitentiary. It is rumored that the library tribunal is vehemently opposed to sunshine, truth and the use of the disinfectant, Trumpicide.
Immigrant Rights groups are opposed to the library. A wall will be built around this amusement park. In addition, armed guards will patrol its perimeter. Many see the English only propaganda displays as offensive.
Friends of the Park need to file a lawsuit. Stop these thieves. Rahm’s going-this is his ‘Daley Parking Meter’ disaster.
why don't they just build a Monument comparable in size to his accomplishments. It would be two inches tall and they could carry it around with them.

Notice the City has to give it away. Kind of like Section 8 housing voucher for the once leader of the free world. Everything is free in the eyes of the City Council and O'Bauma a.k.a. Wonder if the Library in name only will get regular tax hikes for the schools or have to beg, sorry I mean file, for property tax relief?

It's not an Official Presidential Library for 2 reasons 1 Official comes with Federal over site of Finances, which means accountability for moneys collected & spent. 2 no actual paper hard copies of any work to be displayed..........

A $500 million dollar Obama monument to himself......by far the most expensive Presidential Center. You could do a lot of good with $500 million dollars but spending this much money on a ego driven Obama Center is a crazy waste of money.

99 year agreement and in about 10 it will need to be rehabbed and repaired from low bid subpar construction and every 5 years after that.
We should be coming off the ShortShanks Parking Meter Deal well before then, so that’s a win-win and quality Democrat financial wisdom.

There is a lawsuit filed to stop this giveaway of our parkland. Friends of the Park had no courage to file. A group called protect our parks filed it by the law firm of Roth/Fioretti. The city keeps trying to get around it by filling new ordinances. Maybe it will be stopped.
