- Once again focusing on Chicago crime, President Donald Trump on Monday said the city should implement a “stop and frisk” policy and get out of what he called a “terrible” agreement between the ACLU and the police department made after a study showed the stops targeted minorities.
Trump, speaking to the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Orlando, also said he was instructing Attorney General Jeff Sessions to “immediately” go to Chicago.
The Chicago Sun-Times has learned the Justice Department will have announcements on Chicago later this week.
Unless the announcements involve have Rahm, Toni, Kimmy, Timmy or Tommy being tried in the public square and hanged for our watching pleasure, we aren't seeing much change. Almost no one is being stopped. Morale is lower than low. Shootings are down but clearance rates hover in the single digits and property crime is rising.

Although he does not agree with President Trump or Justice Kavanaugh politically be believes their civil liberities have and are being violated and has defended their positions. He says most of his Democrat friends refuse to talk to him any more. He said the ACLU and the Democrat Party have been taken over by the fringe radicals. Now I am not defending Dershowitz but for him to profess this is rather striking. The only thing that you can conclude with the City entering into that agreement with the ACLU is that these Chicago Democrats are members of the new progressive fringe radicals of the left. Yes, the President is right it is a terrible aggrement but Rahm doesn't think so, and what does that tell you? More shootings and deaths by the hour but Rahm thinks stop and frisk is racist. No it's racist not to stop the carnage when your City is on fire Mayor Nero!

I have played this back and forth many times in my head and I don't know if there are many good answers. Any analysis of this requires Monday morning quarterbacking of some sort and that isn't always terribly productive. I don't think I'm alone in saying that I'm not sure I would have used fatal force but there are also those who say they believe this was a clean shoot. I don't know but at worst I feel this was far more malpractice than murder. I can see the cumulative effects of constant criticism and Monday morning quarterbacking as resulting in "depolicing" and that's a bad thing, too. Maybe we need to have some heart-to-heart conversations about things like this. Maybe this was a reckless or negligent homicide. Maybe it was an "OJ" thing where there wasn't enough evidence for a murder conviction but sufficient for a wrongful death civil judgment. I'm troubled by this in so many ways and maybe we need to look at things like this with a view toward the bigger picture. I wish I had more answers than questions but I do think we need to have these overdue conversations.

I consider myself a liberal, in that I support healthcare for all of US citizens, a living wage, union representation, and many of the other rights of which the dialogue seems to have been lost in the current vicious environment. I support and believe in the women, and men, who have been victims of abuse. I also support the right of every citizen to obtain and keep a weapon for self defense. I support the police and believe that they should be allowed to utilize stop and frisk to protect us from the ones who don't abide by our laws. There are many like me, who reject the strict labels imposed upon us by the greedy self serving politicians who want to keep us divided while they slurp at their government funded trough. The reality of us is not so simple.
DOJ needs a consent decree and a probe not on cops but on democrats in Chicago.
