We've never been a fan of Kanye West's music, nor his family, nor his juvenile take on complicated issues. He seems to be a canny businessman who understands his audience though.
We have been amused to see the left's need to destroy him now that he has escaped the thought-police and seems to be thinking for himself for once, no matter how disordered those thought may be. It's difficult to break those habits of allowing others to think for you.
But his rambling defense of Larry Hoover is a nonstarter here. Hoover was nothing but a merchant of drugs, destruction and death during his reign of terror. The only reason we'd want to see Hoover walking around outside of prison walls would be to see how long it would take for his past to catch up to him and get killed, except some innocent person might end up getting shot along with Hoover.
He wouldn't last two weeks on the outside.

KANYE WEST: I think we need to care about all people. And I believe that when I went onto NBC, I was very emotional and I was programmed to think from a victimized mentality, of a welfare mentality. I think that with blacks and African-Americans, we really get caught up in the idea of racism over the idea of industry. We say if people don't have land, they settle for brands. We want Polo supporting Obama again. We want a brand more than we want land. Because we haven't known how it feels to actually have our own land, and have ownership of our own blocks. So when you don't have ownership, then it's all about how something looks. It's about the patina, it's not about the soul, and it's not about the core. So we focus more on, is somebody wearing something, does someone disrespect me so I've got to, I've got to shoot them? Or the idea of someone being racist? You know, we talk about police murders, which we definitely have to discuss, and we have to bring nobility to the police officers and make them – because the police officers are just like us. But there's just this whole hate building, right? And that's a major thing about racial tension. And we also, as black people we have to take a responsibility for what we're doing. We kill each other more police officers. And that's not saying that the police officer is not an issue, because they are in a place, a position of power. But sometimes they're in placement of law enforcement. They need to be law power. It's force versus power. When you have – you shouldn't have to force people to do that. So a lot of times the police officer is sitting there, they're being forced to do this and forced to do that block. And then they force somebody into something, and forces something. We have to release the love throughout the entire country, and give opportunities.
I'm getting older and haven't worked in the ghetto for a long time now, but I heard him say Larry Hoover and I thought, WTF? is he talking about? How did such a scatter brained idjit like this, with no verbal skills ever make that much money?
If Hoover walked out today, the city would need to up their order of body bags and the county would need 5 more M.E' Hoover would put a fear into these punk ass dealer's that turned on him and the dope trade would be a strictly run illegal cesspool business.
Put Jeff Fort in the mix and the southside killer'/dealers would go into hiding in a desert.
Neither one of these thugs will ever see daylight and will die in their small closet of a cell 23 hours a day. The old hood gangsters were serious killing machines. But they are no more !
So, to sum up:
1. Hoover vacuum cleaners are great at sucking up practically anything.
2. Larry gets a relatively uneventful removal from flesh is Larry stays where he now is.
3. Larry faces an almost certain eventful removal from flesh if Larry accepts the unlikely offer for Larry to leave his current relatively uneventful abode.
4. SCC finds amusing many aspects of this particular recent sequence of activities.
Again, Hoover vacuum cleaning machines suck really good.

One of my favorite memories from the job: was working 001 tact on afternoons and the whole team got called to an area near the federal building. We were then assigned to help escort a caravan that would be taking hoover away as there was concern some folks or people might try to spring or kill him. Four suburbans pulled out of the underground garage, each with fully armed tactical feds riding on the running boards and we leapfrogged closing intersections to get them to the now shuddered Miegs Field. I was lucky enough to be next to the truck with hoover in it when he first saw the idling Chinook awaiting his arrival and his jaw dropped to the floor of that truck in that awe fuck moment when he realized he ain't seeing his homies no more. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, we watched as the choppers took off towards his new maximum security home in Terra Haute and suddenly the back ramp lowered about 500 yards away and 300 feet over Lake Michigan. I giggled with excitement as I thought "yes he's trying to escape and is gonna leap" but they must've just been resecuring the ramp door. Still A GREAT night to be the police though.

And speaking of Hoover, here's a true story: I happened to be in the Dirksen Federal Building on Hoover's day of sentencing on a business matter. As I was walking with my boss back to where his car was parked on the basement level, we turned a corner and ... wham! ... there stood 4 US Marshals with MP-5 Sub-Machine Guns standing guard by the armored Prison Bus who immediately turned to us with barrels pointing -- We stopped dead in our tracks.
I raised my hands then slowly pointed to our Yellow Building Passes, the Marshals saw them and relaxed, lowered the guns, and went back to what they were originally doing -- waiting for Hoover to come down the elevator. We slowly walked past them to get the the car, got in, then slowly drove past the Marshals, and out the bldg.
My point being, the US Marshals were anticipating that some of Hoover's Gangster Disciples might try to break him out of custody, via a gun-fight.
That's NOT a role model Kayne!!

I suggest all you guys/gals start listening to the enemy. I am getting tired of Sean Hannity, not because I disagree but that it's always the same old stuff. I have started listening to AM 820. Ben Jarovsky (SIC?) has a show. I think he's the guy from the Reader? Anyway, it is interesting to get a view from the other side. A few things that stand out:
- magical thinking - these liberals have politicians come on and they speak like Utopia can be had if you just vote for them - and it all revolves around spending more $
- they personally attack conservatives - Kanye West was bullied by other blacks at his south suburban prep school so now he's getting back at them
- they never, ever offer a concrete plan - or an alternative - just that conservatism is evil
That being said I really do enjoy the Ben J. show
Reading Larry Hoover's name brought up old memories. I am retired now for 11 years. In the mid 80's working the west side when you stopped a car with him in it, another car containing some of his followers would pull up behind you and watch. So we wouldn't stop him until we had backup.

A GD from where...the Oak Lawn Boys? Kanye was what the streets refer to as a lame. He wasn't rich but wasn't close to poor. Period. He went to Polaris HS in Oak Lawn and enjoyed such experiences as living in China as a child while his mom taught abroad. All of who he knows and any affiliations are because of doing music. You can bet on that. The juvies you bring in have more street cred than Mr. West.

Before I was on Tact I was the lead Blue and White working 124 that day. Great memory, very tense, what a caravan. My partner and myself still talk about it. The only caravan that was almost as good was following the (Purolator) dynamite in the B & A truck from 1007, out to the Lake to get blown up.

Ben Joravsky's show sucks. He makes no good points and rips everything white. He is a hate-whitey black man in a white mans body. If you really want to be angry listen to the Thom Hartmann show just before him. That guy is totally off the deep end, but at least backs his lies up with half-truths.

In all fairness, Kanye made some pro police comments as well. I'd vote for him before I vote for the likes of a Preckwinkle, Daley, Lightfoot, and a host of those other " candidates."
