Full Strength Benefits
A couple of e-mailers pointed out the obvious benefits for the Department being at what Rahm counts as "full strength:"
- The 15% restrictions on Time Due can be lessened since we're fully staffed;
- the City is about to save millions on overtime, which can all be applied to our underfunded pension;
- no more Tact Teams detailed out. Since every team is fully staffed, they can stay in the District of assignment and handle tactical things;
- RAPs (Radio Assignments Pending) are now a thing of the past, so OEMC will save additional millions on overtime....and formerly cranky stressed-out dispatchers will be happier;
- command staff can bring their dollies back inside
We can hardly wait to see this new Department.

Xmas days off canceled in 011. Captain comes to roll call and says, “thanks”. Now get out of your cars and disperse these crowds. Oh yeah, “make sure you spend time with your family”. Dipshit, didn’t you just cancel fucking Christmas?
Can the FOP or a rep chime in on the 15% thing. I know that the department has to allow up to 15% off now daily unless some issue arises, but is that 15% a ceiling? I thought it’s just the minimum they have to allow. It’s not a restriction, just a minimum. So if all the cars are manned they can go over the 15%, right? Or is it really a max of 15%? Stupid to think that if all the beats are manned and just because they hit an arbitrary % that they can’t allow anyone else off.
Those things have about as much chance of happening as riflemen on the street. Both are just feel good ideas to go along with Santa and the Easter bunny. By the way Merry Christmas to all the Coppers and there families!!!

In my district the DC has so many “special, do nothing” people crammed inside already he practically needs an addition to fit anyone else up there.

Training classes will be offered for promotions on the department EMAIL saying everyone can come free while the real classes with the answers are given in private at secret locations (NOT HQ DUMB ASSES)
An article will be written about MERITS who have been arrested and indicted after the twins PLEA BARGAIN returning DEAD mommas SS money.
The officer who wrote the Laquan case report will be NOT GUILTY leading to a mayoral election in CHAOS! Prickwrinkle will declare THE Chicago POLICE are out of control and promise to fire everyone. MENDOZA will talk about more training and increasing COPA budget.
NEW years EVE will see time off limited again even when RAHM said we are at full staff.

First Christmas off probation, my partner and I desperately wanted Christmas Eve off to enjoy the holiday with our family. We figured that with our low seniority there would be no chance off getting the day off. I approached the watch secretary but thought I’d better sweeten the deal so as not to be laughed out of the office. It took $40 apiece from my partner and I to the watch secretary, but we were told that the Captain would not take money. He did however accept a 10lb bag of jumbo shrimp courtesy of the Chicago Fish House, my side gig. My partner and I were granted the day off to enjoy Christmas. True story, 30 years ago today!

OEMC dispatchers get cranky when officers take 45 min to an hour for a Parker, and don't even go to the job site, but code code out the job. Remember you have GPS on your cars and CR # will start to be issued in 2019

Younger single guys did the same. Also the district I worked in split Christmas and New Years. Everyone got one holiday off and usually one eve off. But that was when almost everyone rotated and the front office and all the @special people” weren’t off the weekends and holidays with no time in the job. Memories is right
We had a commander who would work the holidays as the W/C - desk sergeant, 3rd or 1st watch, so the lieutenant and/or sergeant could be home with the kids. None left like him anymore. Merry Christmas kd. Hope you're enjoying retirement.

The 15% is an arbitrary figure. Miracles happen all the time for every holiday party lets everyone off who wants to go. How does that happen? CPD works the numbers when it wants too!!!

Sorry, the memo or agreement about 15 % off is not a minimum...it is by manpower needs...so a watch commander can give less than 15% off if issues arise...now that is very arbritrary and each lt may have a different interpretation of it....so, no 15 percent is a maximum not a minimum...i have read it a hundred times...i am a watch sec on our watch and handle all cu for the lt...and yes most watches use a watch sec...now if a lt was giving less than 15 % off and a grievance was filed he would have to just prove why he have less off ( i.e. low manpower or details that came up or excessive iod's etc.)
Actually he can give "0" off due to manpower issues.

The city need to give us free medical upon retirement after 29 years of service it really should be 25 years of service free medical until the day we die

Lots of truth in this post. Civilian command positions overseeing patrol is in the works.
Push for enhanced COPA will stumble because of the misconduct of IPRA employees and other issues that are ongoing ..
Both of the brothers Johnsons has big troubles heading their way, but the thefts of their dead mothers social security benefits is just the tip of the corrupt iceberg.
And yes, the NOBLE lieutenant's cheating scam investigation is getting a second look.

Like the previous watch sec. said, we use the 15% as a maximum as well. BUT if lets say 3 people off is @ 13% and 4 people off is @ 17%, our W/C will give us the benefit and let 4 off, giving us the additional 2%, not cut it at 3 people. Probably avoid grievances that way.
15% is the MAXIMUM. No more than 15%. Every car can be staffed, some three deep with recruits if you can find enough cageless cars. Extra officers on the desk, in the lockup, two deep on a one man detail, or extra staff on station security because we dont have enough cars, radios, tasers or equipment to put up additional units, but do not go over the 15% off order. 15% is your max off for the day, period.
Cant wait to retire from this SHIT HOLE !!!!
