To Kelly Gary, the wife of Officer Gary. If you read this I want you to know you are a courageous woman and an inspiration to us all. I don't know how you found the strength to attend Officer Marmolejos funeral, but you did. Your attendance was one of the classiest things I have seen in a very long time. Nobody would even think to question you if you stayed home. During a time of your own grief and despair you were there to support the wife of Officer Marmolejo. I know your husband, our Brother in Blue, is looking down and is so proud of you!

May the Lord Bless you and our infant daughter!

May the Lord Bless the Marmolejo family!

Marmolejo was an EMT prior to joining the CPD. He dedicated his life to helping others.

I watched Officer Marmaolejejo's funeral mass at home and his daughter's letter to him was one of the most heartfelt tributes I've ever heard. God bless him and his family.

I didn't know Gary's wife attended Marmolejos funeral, and yes that's up there as one of the classiest gestures I've head in a long long time. The strength and courage to stand with another who is in grief, while you are in a state of your own grief is a profound statement of Gary's wife character. RIP Officers, and God Bless Your Family's.

My heart goes out to the families of Officer Marmolejo, Officer Gary, and the entire CPD.

I would also like to point out, the mural "End of Watch" at West Montrose & North Knox Ave. It lists the names of CPD officers killed in the line of duty. Sadly it have not been updated in some time. Commander Paul Bauer's name was added separate from the others months after his passing by a citizen. Officer Samuel Jimenez's name has not been added. And there are other officers who suffered injuries at the hands of offenders & succumbed years later who are not even listed. Officer Andre Van Vegten is one of them.

Hopefully these brave officers will also be memorialized with those that came before.

Beautiful job by the honor guard. Love they way
they took the steps leaving church. Just cannot
stand to see politicians sitting in front pew of
church. That should be family. I am sure
everyone emotionally exhausted. Please get
some well deserved rest. I am one of many civilians
who has your back. Stay safe and fetal. I
cannot take another funeral. Just heartbreaking.

Father Dan Brandt is one class act, he is a great friend of the police and anytime we can support any of his causes we should, Bless your Heart, Father Dan.

Again I hate how the mayor superinendo get the front church puereserved for them and not the officers co workers or family members who know the officers personally. I told my wife if anything eve r happens to me I do not want the Mayer or superintendent to speak at my funeral and if they go to my wake they will wait line like everyone else.

Yes , kudos to the ENTIRE Gary family. They all came I was out on Western w/ my kids paying respect the day of Conrsds funeral, I saw the look on the family faces as they went by. They looked shocked & appreciating. That whole family has class, as well as the Marmolejo family. Eddie raised some quality kids there. He should be proud. I don’t think I could do what the daughter did after going through such trauma but she did. That speaks volumes of her character

-----------------------------------------------------

I learned more from your posting than all 4 years at the University.
The words "Thank You" doesn't begin to show my gratitude but it is all I have.
I hope you don't mind but I have made copies and included it in my Christmas cards to my children and grandchildren as both a reminder and an inspiration of how one should live their lives.

I contrast your words with those of Arena's guy Nyberg and it is clear who is better educated, more compassionate and an all around better human being. I don't wear a hat but if I did I would always tip it to you out of respect.
God Bless You sir and by treating people like you do, I have no doubt you will have won favor with the Good Lord Himself.
And like poster 07:59 PM said - "The courage of both families was (is) amazing."
