As a Chicago citizen I wanted to share my deepest condolences on the tragic deaths of Officers Eduardo Marmolejo and Conrad Gary. We take for granted the feats of bravery our officers perform day in and day out for an all too often ungrateful city. I hope 2019 brings better times and no tragedies for the CPD. My thoughts are with you all this holiday season and I thank you for all your efforts to make the city more safe.

That fuckhead is on my ban list among other politicians in the event of my early demise.

Hey Rham where’s our fucking contract? You sat up there today with your crocodile tears. If you really cared, our contract would be settled by now. Brian Strouse’s mother was a badass at her son’s funeral. Called out bitch boy Daley for our lack of a contract (for the youngsters that weren’t on the job yet).

Dear SCC and everyone:
Let us all remember the words spoken by Officer Marmalejo's daughter today: be nice to everyone. Sometimes it's ok to not point out the obvious. We all know about the politicians and the brass....but for this Christmas let us be nice to each other. Pay the ultimate tribute to these officers and be nice. Thank you to all the non-Leo's who have shown their support. It is much appreciated by everyone. And to our brothers and sisters around the world that mourn with us, thank you for your support.

He also stood there and shook the hand of everyone who was leaving the funeral home, wishing them to stay safe, and told them he had our back. Compared to JB, who never showed his face, I'll take that.

I went to both wakes, sat in lines for over an hour and a half each night, and was happy to do it too. I am going to assume the answer is no, but did anyone see Toni or Kimm either night?

Not to bash, because it would be better (IMO) if they both indeed did skip but I am curious to know what they decided to do.

Check out yesterday’s podcast of the Proft/Jacobson show. Bruce Wolf filled in and they interviewed McStreetlights. Both Wolf and McCarthy are narcissistic idiots but it shed light on how much Gary will pander and inflate himself. Any p/o that thinks he’s a viable candidate for mayor should see how he isolated himself from the Van Dyke case. Regardless of opinion on the case watch and see how much a douche he really is if ya didn’t know already

It's a testament to the dignity and strength of the widow of Officer Conrad Gary, who after burying her husband Friday and sitting in the same seat as Officer Marmalejos wife did today, attended the services for Officer Marmalejo in support of the widow of his wife.

I can't even imagine the courage it took to be there! In a very sad way the bond between these two officers families will be forever linked. Perhaps both widows and their respective families can be a comfort and support system for each other.

GOD Bless the souls of Officers Gary and Mamalejo and their children and families, in JESUS name, Amen!

12/22/2018 08:41:00 PM

Response to the different bands: CPD has two pipe bands. The Bagpipes and Drums of the Emerald Society Chicago Police Department, which is comprised of CPD, State, County, Federal, and Suburban officers, all of whom are or were active officers. They Emerald Society pipe band has 75 active members. The Pipes and Drums of the Chicago Police Department broke off from the Emerald Society about 20 years ago and has only active or retired CPD officers. Both bands play different musical selections and wear different uniforms. It was decided in a meeting that each band would do one funeral. All of the members of CPD pipe band can join the Emerald Society but not all of the Emerald society members can join CPD because they are not CPD officers. Hopefully this can be worked out in the future.
The Chicago Police Band choose to have the Lake County Indiana and Chicago Fire Bands join them at the funeral on Saturday hence the multiple uniforms.

It's pretty obvious to me that Anita Alvarez has zero interest in running for public office again. Hell, she's probably glad to be away from it. But that hasn't stopped her from attending every wake and funeral of every officer who has been killed. And she waits in line and doesn't seek attention. She is just there to pay respect to the officers and their families and CPD. She is a class act.

What attorney from the People's law office came up with the "I found a gun in the alley and went to the railroad yard during rush hour to try it out. The resultant charges from the State's Attorney's office (Preckwinkie's pledge daughter) illustrate it clearly. Nothing brings these two fine men back, and overheated discussions may be emotionally draining for family and co-workers but this just isn't right. The current trends in law enforcement oversight that no little or nothing about the criminal statutes continue the backward socialistic slide towards safe neighborhoods and criminal justice.

As Officer Marmalejo's daughter spoke of kindness to each other, please be mindful of those in public positions that shamelessly thwart your mission. Merry Christmas to all of you and your families.

Disrespectful to our current governor? Why, because he wants to pay his respects to two fallen officers. So etiquette and political postering takes over common courtesy and decency. Do you real think anybody including Rauner would consider that disrespectful? It’s just a sorry excuse

Not his ambassador, I didn't even vote for the man. But there is a protocol so I'm not silly enough to hold it against JBP for not showing up.

You should really learn to make your point without insults.

To 7:23- I was at a wake for the father in law of a friend who is CPD retired. The line was out the door and around the corner. Burke pulls up and get's in line right behind the wife and me. We all waited an hour do get close to the casket to pay respects. No line busting, no walking right up to the front as if he were a King. Say what you want but the guy has class and manners.
