Mendoza on the Ballot
- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle will drop her challenge to state Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s mayoral petitions, clearing the way for Mendoza to appear as a candidate on the February ballot.
The petition fight between two women who are considered among the mayoral front-runners has been a central focus of the past few weeks of the race.
This immediately shapes up to be an City Machine candidate versus a County Machine candidate. It's also Hispanic versus Black to pick over the remains of Chicago. Vallas appears to be a non-entity suddenly. McCarthy? Still the outsider.

Vallas is by far the best choice. I want to a town hall meeting with Paul Vallas this pat week and came away very impressed. He is not a career politician like all the rest. He is married to a retired police officer and has two sons that are police officers so our pensions are high on his priority list. Eliminating red light cameras is also in the cards. I specifically asked about the consent decree and he is against it but it is a uphill battle because it was federally mandated already but wants a lot of things changed in it like having more supervisors per officers in each district. Also wants to reopen the closed areas 4 and five. Very impressed by most of his ideas. Us in law enforcement need to get behind him and screw these police hating candidates. I can’t believe any one of you would vote for McCArthy or Mendoza. Get behind Vallas and let him have a crack. If it doesn’t work out vote someone else in 4 years. Thanks blue shirt Unit 312.
