It's the baby boomers retiring and the younger generations looking for greener pastures. If you're not in the top third income earners in a major market city, its time to reconsider.
By summer of 2019 all of my children will be living in other states.
It's simple economics. Why stay here and pay skyrocketing taxes when you can go somewhere else with less crime, warm weather and lower property taxes. These politicians are driving this state into the toilet.

One hundred a day that is 3500 a year. No big deal but willing to bet those were taxpayers leaving. Which means that city lost more tax revenue again. Are the illegal going to make it up? Didn't think so in fact despite what your liberal friends the illegal are a big net drain on city treasury. Housing, food medical and yes even free schooling. To those stupid fools staying keep paying your taxes those freeloaders need a better lifestyle and it is up to you to provide it. Free cars and gas will be next big push, after all can't expect them to walk to nail salon or beauty parlor not to mention trips to new north side hunting grounds.
The downside is people evacuating liberal controlled cities to avoid unbearable Democratic policies are bringing their fudged up liberal thinking to conservative states. Look at the recent elections in Arizona and Texas.

People living in Texas, Arizona and other southern states might consider closing their borders to anyone leaving Chicago, New York or Los Angeles. Why muck up perfectly good states by allowing people in who have a habit of pooping in their nests? My reaction to anyone coming from a blue state: "There goes the neighborhood."

According to the Bloomberg Report, Chicago has the dubious distinction of leading major cities in outward migration losing 156 residents daily. That amounts to a loss of 56,940 former Chicagoans per year (NOT 3,500).
Come the 2020 decennial U.S. Census, #3 Chicago will become the FOURTH most populous city in the nation, edged out by Houston. Chicago is in its death throes. So sad for our once great city.

Dude has a point. I see it here in Minnesota too--while it's always been a staunchly DFL (Democrat) state, the works-for-a-living Farmer-Labor axis has generally been sane and competent. But they're losing ground to asshole downtown Democrats and that's why assholes like Franken and Ellison are making it at the state level. I think maybe I'll move to Idaho or Utah next, when the assholes make this place untenable. There's jobs there, and the local culture won't leave me wondering every day if this is the day when some random asshole tries to destroy me because they have unresolved daddy issues.
Nevada bleeding blue now. Used to be quite conservative. Az and Tex leaning left but still hanging in there. AZ republican gov won by 16 points. Lost senate seat though. I wouldn't blame everything on libs. Having lived out west I can say repubs run the shittiest candidates possible. Criminal Harry Reid could have easy been taken down when he ran back in 2010 but Nevada repubs put up the dopiest woman they could find. She couldn't even win the repub nomination when she ran again in 16. Dems pushing hard to let every criminal possible vote. If they take Texas it's over. 3.5 to 4 Billion dollars a year are spent by Illinois residents to have Chicago a Santuary City. Over 45 thousand residents have left this state this year. Politicans have been fucking with Chicago pensions since 1986 and none of them have been prosecuted. Politicans are running major businesses out of this state.
