Ginger Spilling the Beans?
- Former Chicago Aviation Commissioner Ginger Evans is laying out a bill of particulars against Ald. Edward Burke (14th), alleging that he worked repeatedly behind the scenes to inappropriately pressure her and her staff on airport business.
In a memo to the Sun-Times, Evans, who resigned earlier this year, gave five examples of Burke or his staff allegedly interfering or overstepping.
• Burke personally intervened to make sure that the clout-heavy United Maintenance, which held janitorial contracts at O’Hare Airport, got paid promptly.
• Burke pushed to renew or extend a contract with Go Airport, which operates a shuttle service at O’Hare.
• Burke worked to help Clear Channel, the company that controls indoor advertising at O’Hare, when it was upset over a competitor’s actions at the airport.
• When dozens of leases for hangars and aviation support facilities were coming up for renewal, the City was obligated to offer them the same business terms. Those terms required City Council approval. However, Burke insisted that each lease be separately submitted to Council – which delayed and complicated the approvals.
• At a committee hearing on the leases, Burke continued to question Evans’ authority to sign them.

That's the company owned by Rick Simon, an ex-cop, and according to Cooley's book 'When Corruption Was King,' a suspected murderer. Garry McCarthy got in tight with Rick Simon during his stay here in Chicago. Part of a double payback by Rham against McCarthy too? Time will tell.

These are just the big contracts to mention. Jerry Joyce made millions at O'Hare concessions. We want our pensions funded? Look at every contract that comes out of the finance committee. I will guarantee you will find $600 million in waste fraud and abuse to more than satisfy the pension payment. I will guarantee everyone that reads this blog knows at least 1 company that contracts with the city that is connected one way or another. From Aviation to the Zoo there is a lot of money being passed out.

OT: I received an email update from Clint Krislov the attorney trying to get the city to reinstate retiree healthcare. If i read it correctly he is looking for the City/Pension fund to pay their $21 medicare and $55 non medicare subsidy to the retirees. His fees would be over $5 million of the retirees dollars. I say the retirees dollars because i know that the FOP and RCPA already gave this guy over $500k. Krislov considers that a donation and not a legal fee, so any money he gets awarded from the court would not come back to the FOP, RCPA or any individual that gave money to his "war chest". Yes that is what he calls it. BTW he was also the attorney that originally agreed with the Korshak settlement and a sunset provision. So this guy will be paid again for something he created. Anyone else get the email and do the math?

The airport contracts were never competitively bid. It's always been about who you know, or who you blow. The airports are a bottomless pit of corrupt money, and insider deals. There has never been any accountability involved.

If I remember correctly the pension board said that they couldn’t pay their share subsidy if the city didn’t pay part of the retirees health care. Said it was a pension law
So if the union gpes with Krislov he gets filthy rich but the retirees still get the shit end of the stick? I have to tell you, I have 20 months left on the insurance to 65, then go to Medicare plus whatever for multiple scripts PLUS getting insurance for a 12/1/2 year younger and a 17 year old child. We are not making it NOW, much less then. My question is this: does it matter one bit WHO is running the Union? It seems that no matter who is in power, no one gives a shit for anything except how much they can lick off their fingers and to hell with anyone else. No one gives a fuck...period. I am absolutely certain the retirees are viewed by most of them as a nuicence and nothing more. Between the boost in their respective salaries (and yes. Phil over at the Memorial unit pulling in over $120,000 PLUS his bloated pension is included) they would have no problem with early death by most of us. To them, we seem to be just a pain in the ass and nothing more. To the younger guys, I know a lot of you think we just bitch for bitching sake but you WILL get old or sick or both. A lot of you may be in the same position a few years down the road. That being said, please try not to play hardass and tell the old ones to go to hell. She sold out the Aviation police, and ended up rehiring the previous Deputy Commissioner that had a sexual harassment beef. There have been a slew of former democratic insiders that have retired, been fired or went to prison. Not one has ever written a juicy expose. Why? It seems that most of them get taken care of one way or another. Hillard wrote a book ( I don't believe he was literate enough to actually do this and most likely had a ghost writer), but it said nothing about the inside deals and he painted himself as a law enforcement genius. Imagine if Richard M Daley wrote an expose about policits and patronage in Illinois? It would be a world wide best seller.

I don't pretend to know what is going on with him and the "G" but I will tell you this, he is in his *70's and from what I understand he has some health issues. If the "G" has something on him and if push comes to shove he got that black book and like I stated above he knows where all the bodies are buried. Another topic. In a post above someone mentioned former alderman Mike Zuluski. What I find interesting is that the alderman's seat did not go to Al Cacciottolo. Al is the 23rd Ward Superintendent. He was given that job as a deal to now run against Zuluski. Now I realize that Al was ill and had a terrible time going through his medical issues but it make you wonder. Why did Zuluski quit so suddenly. Remember, Zuluski was the head of the Department of Aviation for many years. Interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parsons payoff... Bus deal was done to cover for contractor failure to meet deadline on train completion on October 2018. Parsons design errors made the train late by over a year. robing pete to pay paul now city has gave cntractor $30 + million to fix a problem caused by the contractor. Watch ... contractor will not finish by next year either, and this bus contract is costing / will cost a ment. Budget is busted and so is ginjer.
