Nice Investigator Tommy
The media isn't covering this. Seems small time...and you'd think someone making $106K might avoid shoplifting entanglements:
- JOLIET, IL - A 47-year-old Cook County Corrections investigator who lives in Romeoville spent a good portion of his weekend behind bars at Will County's Jail after Joliet Police busted him for a series of retail thefts at the Kohl's on Route 59, according to police. Amarildo Ponce was arrested on charges of felony retail theft and Ponce's alleged partner his crime, Decebeth Heatley, 48, of Romeoville, was also arrested on charges of retail theft.
According to Joliet Police reports, the arrests of the Cook County investigator and Heatley occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday in the 2500 block of Route 59.
Joliet Police were notified of a retail theft in progress at the business and 911 dispatchers relayed that Ponce fled in a green Honda Civic, reports show.
We're also told that this is one of Tommy Dart's "media hires," meaning he's related to someone in the media. Tommy has made a habit of hiring those types so that he gets positive coverage, or at least less negative coverage than would be the norm.

Typical Dart the Fart bullshit. That whole organization is a joke. Maybe his inmates can cook their newest buddy some pizza in the kitchen they took from CO’s.
Very sad. Someone making six figures - and shoplifting??
They better start doing something about all their pension shortfalls, and raising the Gas Tax by 20-30 cents a gallon ain't it.
Dart always complains about his employees. After 15 yrs as Sheriff has anyone reminded him these are the people he hired.
Dart is running an office with 600 million in funding but is down over 1400 deputies. Is it possible for the Feds to audit his office. He maybe one of the most corrupt politicians and nobody seems to notice or care.
That Clown earns $106,000 and he's a crook.
This cat looks like a real lowlife. Same with his honey. If he was hired because of Ponce then Dart is a fool. Sadly this is what CPD will look like in a few years as they continue to hire lowlifes.
How does the Sheriff get away with giving out government titles to political hacks who steal from Kohls. He stole OPR name from the Feds. Also has numerous other titles like Bureau Chief/Director which at least make you think government. When you run such an unprofessional office just stick with the normal police titles. No government official wants to be confused with your office Sheriff.
The obvious media link would be Phil, Anthony, and Dan Ponce, just based on the name. But what's a Decebeth?
Defective Cherie Hendricks scoffs at this amateur for not knowing what constitutes a felony theft charge...
and how to avoid getting charged with same.
Well he got some media alright. Will still keep his job though nothing to see here just a misunderstanding.
He should of stole within Cook County as Crimesha Foxx would not allowed prosecution under her policies!
He must have thought he was in Crook County Where Shoplifting is Legal
Maybe you can Phil us in later on the Media person?
It’s easier just to do a smash-n-grab and destroy property at night. Also helps if you go with a media-termed ‘group of people’ when you shoplift. After your ‘group of people’ start shoplifting, just Mace the shopkeepers and start jumping turnstiles. You’ll never get identified if you’re with a ‘group of people.’
Doesn't Cook County have a residency rule?
Romeoville is in Will County.
I thought when I saw the face on the news he looked a bit like a Ponce.
Sheriff Dart signed the Shakman decree in 2009. What preceded was his pals/attorneys billing taxpayers almost 6 million over 2 years. Dart then created 280 new Shakman exempt political positions in that same period to avoid oversight. He even hired attorneys to full time positions who were suppose to be monitoring his office. The same attorneys including Helen Burke, gave him a favorable bogas report indicating his office was free of political influence. It was probably the greatest scam on taxpayers in Cook County in recent history while the only beneficiaries were shady attorneys.
Shoplifting from Kohls hahaha haha
Any relation to Phil Ponce?
Is his last name a clue to the media person Dart sought to influence by his hire?
Wouldn’t be Emanuel’s neighbor, would it?
Decebeth? Any relationship to that Scottish guy Macbeth?
Does Phil ring a bell?
And will charges be approved? Kimesha?
Long ago in another state the well-paid boss of a regional governmental agency was arrested for shoplifting ammunition from a big box store. He got off with a wrist tap, of course, but I always maintained that this was Fred's way of keeping his mind sharp and his fingers nimble. In a previous governmental post, some money in his "safe keeping" mysteriously vanished. Always need to keep the mind sharp, the fingers nimble.
He Should’ve shoplifted in cook county. Now he’s twice the dumbass
I never understood what Shaved had against Dart.
Now I do.
Wow can he be related to PhilPonce and the Ponce on channel 9. Boy nobody is perfect I guess. And it is the Holiday shopping season.
Dan Ponce, WGN?
Hope he gets the max in charges and convicted.. dont do that shit at alll— and don’t do that shit in neighboring counties.
He was prolly on the job when it happened.. shit, connected people don’t work, and they are always on company time
Had this happened in Cook county, he wouldn't have even been arrested.
He probably didn't know it was a crime anymore, in light of Kimesha Foxx' prosecutorial choices.
rb
Gotta love a five finger discount.
Too many Ponces in the media.
its all about HDO clout system
he thought it was legal the first few times
ask kimmie sly fox
Arrested in Will County, he's fucked big time. Will County is not Kimmy country, but who knows how far her reach is..........
what is a corrections investigator? detective?

She resigned before her case came up before the police board and they fired her.

That Clown earns $106,000 and he's a crook.
People make a lot more than $106,000 and they are still crooks.
Sheriff Micheal Sheahan, 385 million funding in 2006, 7321 employees.
Sheriff Tom Dart, 596 million funding 2018, 6,327 employees.
Sheriff Dart is getting 200 million more funding and is down several thousand deputy sheriff positions. At the daley center over half the court rooms don't even have a deputy. Dart even closed 24 hour district lockups recently cause the lack staffing. C/O ops is driving new arrestees down to the jail and then returning them to the districts for court in the morning which is creating numerous liability issues. Imagine being arrested for DUI or suspended D/L. You are now transported over 40 miles to the jail for the night and returned to the districts for court because Dart couldn't staff 24 lockup open which takes about 5 deputies. Not to mention he cant staff EM who have thousands of inmates whom are AWOL. The normal period is three weeks before the Sheriff starts looking for that person. And word is this is one of his connected EM bosses who was shoplifting. And lastly, lets not forget Dart has less than half the inmates from past which makes you think how could it possible be this messed up!
At least when Elrod and O'Grady passed out Casper badges to their friends, one could expect this. And I remember when one of the Ponce's got cuffed and stuffed for failing to disperse from a roadway. He was close to getting a wood shampoo.
Rahm: And we got newspaper people on the payroll, right?
Dart: [nods]
M-K purses packed with generic pantyhose.
Oh, that's so rich!
Helen Burke was a independent Shakman monitor who was quoted in the paper that Sheriff did a great job "ridding politics" from the Sheriff's office. Dart then gives her a 160,000 job she has held for last 10 years. How is that not a major conflict of interest and perhaps even criminal? What does Micheal Shakman think of his independent monitors get payback jobs from the offices they are suppose to be monitoring?
9 more convictions to go before he gets in trouble
They need a consent decree.....
You should see what his chief policy officer does. Sheriff police made an arrest and they were battered in the process and after charges were filed she went to states attorney and had them dismissed because they were men of color and she did not think it fair. The police were furious, but what can they do? She is a Dart favorite.
When you google Second City Cop, the first thing that pops up is Second City Cop Dart. Thought that was interesting and proof this site is where public seeks Dart news that the media refuses to report.
Maybe he'll use the excuse "He was a good boy who just got involved with the wrong crowd" as it seems this wasn't the first time Mz. Decebeth has been pinched...
"Decebeth Heatley, 44, 2035 Wheatfield, Romeoville, arrested by the Romeoville Police Department on Feb. 15 and charged with retail theft." - Joliet Times Weekly 03/10/15.
Detective Cherie Hendricks resigned in September to avoid termination. Now she takes her dishonored place in CPD history!
Long overdue
Not a peep on the local media. The brother hasn't been on WGN and the old man isn't on WTTW since this happened. Old man is Rahms neighbor.

It was in Will County.
Did he get an I-Bond?
So did they run a credit check on this moron? Because the only way someone making 6-figures is shoplifting is if they're in debt somehow over something...
Pence looks like he may have a somewhat serious addiction problem. Someone should determine if he is in fact still employed by Dart. My suspicion is that he is not, and likely has not been for awhile now.
When I worked for Cook Co. before coming to CPD there was no residency. Worked with most who lived outside Cook Co. also a over abundance of Indiana commuters before it was fashionable. Pension was at 80% max and a 3% cola compound. Back then they also had a oppitonial pension you could contribute to enabling you to leave 5 years early with a max pension. Strong pension all the judges and Cook Co. hospital employees were in it. Many days sorry I didn’t stay. Did 30 yrs anyway.

You think an addiction problem would keep him from being employed by Dart? You have a lot ri learn about Cook county.
She goes by Daisy Artes on Facebook...They are smiling together in an updated picture. HA
