Swing and a Miss

  • Chicago was bypassed by another tech behemoth Thursday when Apple announced plans to build a $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas, with smaller sites or expansions in six other cities.

It was just last month that Amazon said it will split its much-anticipated second headquarters between New York City and Arlington, Va. Chicago had been named one of the 20 contenders for the second headquarters, labeled HQ2, when the list of bidders was narrowed in January.

Apple’s search had a lower profile than Amazon’s, which turned into a bidding war as cities tried to woo the online merchant with robust incentive packages.

In an early morning post Thursday on its website, Apple said in addition to the Austin campus, it would open smaller locations in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, Calif., and over the next three years will expand in New York; Pittsburgh; Boston; Boulder, Colo.; and Portland, Ore. It also left open the possibility of expanding elsewhere in the United States “over time.”
Rahm's mouthpieces try to put a positive spin on it, pointing to a number of smaller companies that have expanded into town. It's still a slap in teeth.

All of these other companies locating to Chicago aren’t creating new jobs, just bring current staff with them. rahm offers up freebies we taxpayers will be paying for years, while rahm will be long gone.

Chicago can not compete for high tech jobs. Few tech people want to live in this fly-over shithole.

Le5s see the soon to be most heavily taxed state and city in nation, who wouldn't want to live here. New gas taxes, higher real estate taxes, a homeless tax, a new milage tax all promised plus increased fees across the board. All because the non working class needs more free stuff. That and Democrats just can't seem to live within a budget.

The Criminal Class in the city has a cost which extends way beyond what HeyJackass can quantify. No one can ever tell me that the city’s crime, its political corruption, and its costly social-justice programs don’t scare the shit out of potential employers located to the city. All of this adds up - either directly or indirectly.

Everybody should be very careful on celebrating the move of big companies not moving into Chicago. Yes its a slap in the face to Rahm - and I cant stand him either. He is a little arrogant jag***.
Chicago is a tourist and business hub that the majority of cities lack - but by losing these expanding wealthy companies to other cities is a loss in $$$$ to Chicago.
If Rahm with his political connections cant land these companies - GOOD LUCK with the next batch of wanna be Mayors for this city....
Scary path ahead!

Rahm’s a complete failure. He’s had eight years and still we’re looking at; a pension crisis, failing CPS, CPD in disarray (manpower equipment leadership) revenue diminishing and in debt over our heads. Good job Rahm. At least you’ll have half a dozen “Board of Director” no show jobs that you can collect a couple hundred thousand dollars a piece from must be nice.

I wonder if that's why they've stopped reporting shootings in the Tribune? They used to have a big headline, then summarize it with something like, "and in other shootings...". Since crimes are no longer published, it means crime is down? You don't see it in the headlines, so it didn't happen.

Or I wonder if it's so commonplace now, that it's no longer newsworthy. Like when they used to report there had been a 10-hour stretch with no shootings. Now they don't report either. I live in Chicago, so I know the shootings/etc. haven't stopped. But someone who is just passing by, or looking at the headlines from some other state would have no way of knowing that. And if they see a headline stating there was a 10-hour dry-spell (gasp!), then all the more reason to settle inTexas instead.

I'm glad they're not settling here. Downtown has gotten ridiculously big with all the new construction. It's terrible for those of us who have to call this place home.

That won't help the shithole cities. I was hoping Paul Joseph Watson would do a video on Chicago. He's done videos on Portland is a shithole, SF, and Paris and London. I've seen people asking him to do a Chicago video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSw79yRnDVs

2 billion for the Musk rat tunnel, 2 billion for expanding the Red Line to 130th st, a billion a year for CHA, 6 billion a year for CPS with less kids enrolled than ever and diminishing returns for all that investment, City is earning more revenue than ever in its history, and there's a pension crisis?

And why expand the Red Line south again? Exactly who are you catering to, besides dredging up more undesirables and enabling the pillagers to get downtown easier?

It's not the denizens of the far south side who are going downtown to spend the money that keeps the City afloat, it's the people coming in from the suburbs or from out of town who come to Chicago to spend money and play.

Of course, the price tag for these proposed boondoggles won't stop at 2 billion, there will be inevitable cost overruns. So who will do the building of the rail line? Find out and then find out how much that firm (and anyone employed by that firm) gave in campaign contributions to Democrat politicians and you will know the whole truth.

That's a good investment for anyone. Kick a few hundred grand to these politicians, get 2 billion back from the public funds.

And remind us again how is this system more fair and legit than a Communist country? Or an Outfit organization? Or feudalism for that matter?

Can't wait to leave this Democrat sh*thole far behind, with its protected criminals, crooked pols, dumb voters, welfare leaches who've been skimming and scamming for generations and whose only contribution to society is being born (illegitimately) and breeding on your dime.

Can't wait to leave. Maybe when I retire, I will have the leisure time to follow around all these politicians and find out how dirty they really are, then present the evidence to the news and the Feds for further prosecution. Maybe, but not likely because I'll have to work another full time job just to pay for my health insurance.

Hah!

A reminder of the old days when Policemen were expert
at playing "Dirty Tricks" similar to this...

This city NEEDS more "Dirty Tricks" like this by
The Police.

Of course, that's what the white-guilt liberal SJWs,
the perpetually aggrieved constituencies and local
media have a visceral fear of...

If The Police were to ever regain a solid footing
in this town, nary a one of these swing-dicks/hang-tits
should ever again have a restful night's sleep for fear
of rightful, legal and proper visitation by Karma as
facilitated by timely and revelatory "Dirty Tricks"
that result in a little skin being peeled from their asses.

Heh...
They have some crazy expectation that Chicago Policemen
are duty-bound and compelled to "fight fair."

Hell... Every day we patrolled, we tried to find
deserving shit-heads to play dirty tricks on...

Legally.
Court Sanctioned & Court Approved.

No... We did not delve into the pimpy...
Eagles do not hunt flies.

Expand your mind. Businesses are paying big rents downtown, so are hotels, restaurants, bars because it’s the place to be. Check the rents for apartments and real estate prices. Downtown is going nowhere. There are actually about 20 BILLION dollars in current and proposed projects for downtown as we speak. Appears there are plenty of rich lunatics
