This Assistant Chief must have been brilliant, or Politically Heavy, because he was only 30 years old at the time. He was also fortunate enough to be living in one of the luxurious homes on Cook County Forest Preserve Property. Remember, when the Cook County Forest Preserve expanded it absorbed many private properties, including some beautiful homes. These homes are rented out for almost nothing in rent, to Clouted Cook County employees, like the late Emmett Joseph Burke. Asst. Chief Burke was NOT on-duty at the time of his accidental death, and the issue of alcohol was not mentioned by the Media at the time of the incident. Remember, it is only now, that Burke is down, that the Local Investigative Journalism has begun to surface. At the time of this accident, Preckwinkle was NOT the President of the Cook County Board; but the Burke family's ties to Cook County law enforcement employment are apparent. The political leaders have access via their law enforcement appointments to privately run "investigative" databases for law enforcement. These databases collect "information" on U.S. citizens and provide for a significant fee "intelligence" on anyone corrupt politicians might be investigating or want to conduct the "peoples business" with.
Lots of collected information to destroy your political opponents, gather info on privately held assets and identify known associates through so called "business intelligence". And these companies refuse to disclose who may have gained access to a U.S. citizens personal information kind of like an audit mechanism to ensure lawful compliance with the law and to ensure that only accurate information is disclosed. If everything is lawful what are these companies hiding?
By the way, public supervisors including judges, politicians and their families are walled off from such intrusion and inspection. You see these are the people in power who can ruin the information collection monopolies and dissemination all sorts of collected private information for a fee businesses through court proceedings and legislation. If public supervisors information was discovered and revealed through these databases, just imagine the outcry to be subjected to an intrusion into one's privacy. Remember these firms disclose they only use public sourced information but never shared credit bureau information, cellular phone records, an application or business record, etc. that has to be "verified" for authenticity. And these business records are rolled into a private U.S. citizens collective dossier for sale to privileged individuals and privileged organizations. You get the picture.
Elected officials have access to lots of privileged information in privately managed intrusive databases for sale. Political leaders can create and control legislation, its enforcement through various government regulating agencies and can arrange special carve outs for generous "friends" of the democrat party. We place a lot of trust in political leaders to do things such as tax, regulate and adhere to the City of Chicago Ethics Ordinance they wrote and passed in legally binding city council meetings. Three aldermens down-forty seven to go. Makes you wonder why JB Pritzker spent a hundred million or so on his election to the position of governor.

Burke and Madigan each own law firms that 'everyone knows' for years have been using corruption to get unfair real estate tax breaks for clients and dirty money for themselves.
What everyone DOES NOT know is how many other law firms act as fronts for Burke and Madigan? Surely these guys have been spreading the wealth, and covering the trail, by sharing their corrupt spoils with the huge go-along get-along crowd that makes Chicago what it is.
Hint: FOIA results of tax appeals from Berrios's office. Sort law firms by success rate. Weight the results by dollar amounts. Look for the firms with success rates up near that of Burke and Madigan.
Hint #2: look for law firms close to the Daley-Vanecko family (ask around, it's not that hard) and law firms which handle the large Section 8 operators. See how honest law firms representing three-flat owners have much lower success rates.
Then sit back and wait for your Pulitzer, you lazy twits. And while you wait, consider whether it is honest police, or corrupt politicians and corrupt merit-police, you should have been investigating all these years.

If we had a real Attorney General in this state, some of this "ongoing corruption" should have been noticed, assessed, and pursued years ago. Instead, we had a hugely accepted "look the other way" policy on ALL political issues and politicians when it came to corrupt practices and extortion charges.
Burke says he is innocent - OF COURSE HE IS.
He doesn't get the "wrongness" of what he has done. In his mind, what he did was "Business as Usual" in Chicago.
"Pay to Play" - You want to open up this restaurant? Lay some money out. Need a permit? Money talks.
Drop a C-note in an envelope and you'll get that permit. Need an old document dug up at Cook County for some court case or real estate property dispute? Drop a twenty down on the clerk's counter and come back after lunch. It'll be there - no matter HOW far back we need to search.
This could be an episode on The Untouchables. A 1960-1962 TV show about the pursuit of Criminals (mostly in Chicago) by Eliot Ness, federal agent.
An Alderman or ANY government worker wanting a payoff? They were doing that 90 years ago. Standard business practices. What's the problem now?
So in Burke's (and many other politicians') minds, getting some money (or business) to "grease the wheels" to get things moving forward is an accepted practice for almost a century (at MANY levels). What's the big deal? What's the problem?
If Burke should go down, who else should go down? Should we also look into people who held office, who are no longer in office? What about the people in the GOP Party??
Will Burke point out others in a plea bargain?
This could burst open a huge scandal. Any "merit promotions" kick back anything to any of his campaigns? How many tables did you have to sell?
