- Ald. Edward Burke’s son was under internal investigation for allegedly making inappropriate sexual comments at the sheriff’s office when Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle’s administration hired him to a nearly $100,000 per year job, newly released records show.
Preckwinkle’s human resources chief formally offered Edward Burke Jr. a job as training and exercise manager for the county’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department in December 2014 after he spent several years working for Sheriff Tom Dart.
And what would Junior Burke do? Be a crude over-entitled loudmouth prick it seems:
- He left the sheriff’s office while two investigations into his conduct were ongoing, and the allegations against him were serious enough that he faced likely firing if the accusations were sustained, Dart spokeswoman Cara Smith said.
One investigation began after a female sheriff’s employee alleged that Burke was “consistently disrespectful of women,” talked about sex acts and would leave the office by saying, “I’m leaving, going to watch the girls on Rush Street,” records show.
She also said Burke called himself “the law,” claimed to have “tapes” that would “humiliate” Dart, vowed to run for sheriff and said he would fire a bunch of employees when he won, records show.
Junior doesn't have a single testicle if he doesn't release those tapes right now. And guess who Prickwrinkle immediately threw under the bus? Our old buddy - Masters Masters Masters!
- Michael Masters, who headed the Homeland Security department at the time Burke was hired by Preckwinkle’s administration, told the Tribune that Burke disclosed “that there were some issues that were personal in nature between him and other people at his former place of employment” and that he felt retaliated against over a complaint he made against a supervisor.
But Masters said he wasn’t aware of the alleged sexual comments, defended the hire and said Burke was qualified. He said he does not recall discussing the hire with Preckwinkle. He also said it would not have been unusual if they had, as Burke was hired to a Shakman-exempt job – meaning political considerations could factor into the hire.
Preckwinkle’s office has said Masters hired Burke.

Once again the media makes Tommy Toupee Dart the hero after he first hired Burke and gave him a 25% raise during the hiring/wage freeze. Now Dart throws him under the bus when it's politically convenient. Burke Jr. Was actually a good guy as Chief. He use to bring in food and thank the staff. I also saw him raise several thousand dollars for an officer who was sick. There was a few back stabbers who ran to Dart and told him things Burke was saying about him. It's ironic how quickly the Dart clan piles on when Timmy Dart was doing buisness with Burke for years.
She’s doing damage control, but still hasn’t returned the $116k Burke gave her last year, and soccer player Susie is backpedaling too, saying the $55k he has given her over the years will be donated to a worry charity. This is setting up Daley though, as he’ll probably be the #1 candidate in a runoff. No matter what, we’re screwed.
Don't know where the Sheriff's office is coming up with this stuff cause everyone was pissed when Burke left. Him and Dart did not get along period. How is a fireable offense to bad mouth the boss as Darts spokesperson said. Does Dart think he in a king.

Whatever happened when Dart got an award for Shakman and then hired 350 political positions. The lawyer's became rich while the press fell for that scam too.
Burke jr, while everyone knew his dads shenanigans, was a decent boss at county. Got a lot done for fugitive warrants, and was getting things going for the EM unit, before darts scrotum stroker Greg Shields put a stop to that. Jr did relay to his staff he had dirt on dart and would be releasing it when he ran for sheriff. He had a meeting with dart and Shields and threw his star on the table and walked out...Mikey masters also has a relative who works in darts EM unit who is dumb as a box of rocks but ran back and told everything Eddie jr did. Lot of former CPD hacks and dart henchmen in the EM unit who tie the hands of the workers and look for politics favors.

Sam Nugent was chief of staff at CCDHS when Burke Jr. was given the job. She is now running in 39th ward as the "change" candidate against PO Duplechin. Sounds like same old same old.
If all the aldermen and their offspring were pay limited to $7.50 an hour, IL would have many of these problems.
