For allegedly being among the smartest people around, the University of Chicago sure is full of dumbasses:

These were armed individuals...you know, armed with guns, robbing people and attempting to hide among the big brains at what was once considered one of the top universities in the world. No one was shot, beaten, tasered or whatever outrages the leftists nowadays. We heard that harsh language wasn't even used and officers made sure their shoes were tied before entering campus buildings.

Game stop robbed by 5 guy concealing their faces and wearing rubber gloves. Seeing there have been several of these robberies, GameStop had a tracking device on stand by concealed in a Nintendo switch gaming console which was part of the proceeds. The car they were in was tracked to U of C where they crashed and bailed. There is video of the crash and video of them after the crash running through campus. There is video of them discarding clothing and rubber gloves which was the clothing described from the victim of the robbery. These guys were all locked up and state denied charges because no one actually saw them fleeing from the car. As far as the students go, on scene they were pretty pleasant with us and many actually helped point us in the right direction after they fled from the vehicle.

Saw some interesting creatures on the way. These creatures often wandered thru campus, and even though U of C has the 2nd LARGEST POLICE FORCE IN ILLINOIS, at night you had better be more vigilant. Tried to avoid campus at night, and never took the bus home after dark. 30 years later, well-educated by contemporary academic standards ,with my native SouthSide street smarts , I enjoyed my education at U of C, and suffered relatively little ill effects( some of My Profs were the burgeoning Neo-Cons, or Chicago School(econ) enthusiasts...) but no way I'd live in Hyde Park, even If was a full professor and chairman of the dept. a Provost or University Prez.or a retired US president. Let alone just some middle-class white guy professional...

Many moons ago while passing through Washington park my partner and I saw 10+ confused looking U of C American bred types.
We were on a prisoner run to Area 1. We stooped and asked them if they were lost. They were walking to the El station at Garfield and King dr. Being aware of a robbery pattern in Washington park we reccomended they walk back to campus and take the bus to the El station due to robberies. At this point a he-man wannabe started berating us as racist. We told them have a nice day snd continued on our way.
After the obligatory run around and being kept waiting at Area 1 lockup we headed back to the district.
Once sgain passing through Washington park, 45 minutes later, we come across the same group of brainiacs, this time with several 002 district cars with them. We stop at one of the cars; well all were robbed by one dude with a pistol. We just started laughing our asses off and went back to the ghetto where it was safe.
I’m guessing Mr He-man didn’t impress any of the women in the group after all.
Just can’t make this shit up.

They don't have the second largest police force in IL by a long shot. CPD is the biggest. And off the top of my head ISP, Aurora, Joliet, Rockford, Naperville, and Waukegan are all bigger. If I actually wanted to sit down and think up more I could, but U of C has about 100 officers
I spent a ton of time at the hospital down there where my mom was an inpatient getting treatment. I'd be there at all hours of the night and day. Gotta admit, it's not an area I particularly liked walking around after dark. One night as I was leaving, a CPD officer pulled up to my car and told me he was going to follow me to Lake Shore Drive to ensure I didn't run into any problems as I made my way back to my neighborhood. The neighborhood I lived in is shit too, but it was damn nice of him to ensure my safety out of Hyde Park.
As far as the U of C grads that I've dealt with, I'm not too impressed. One of the first things out of their mouths is "I've got a degree from the U of C." Well big f-ing deal, the Dean of my mediocre college kicked me out of school - yet here we are working together.
