Dear God

Another State Trooper killed in a head on collision near Libertyville:
  • An Illinois State trooper was killed early Saturday morning by a wrong-way driver who struck his vehicle on Interstate 94 in the westbound lanes, according to a release from Illinois State Police.

About 3:25 a.m., Trooper Gerald Ellis, 36, was on-duty in his squad car traveling home on I-94 near mile post 166.75 in Green Oaks when a wrong-way driver who was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, struck Ellis head on, the release said.
Godspeed Trooper.

Okay so now the state has to get a little tougher on driver's license requirements and consequences for violations! You don't deserve a driver's license you should earn a driver's license!

This is unbelievable.

If Toilet Boy were a real governor he'd get up off his fat leftist ass and give the ISP directions for some serious enforcement initiatives.

Instead, he's exhausting himself to push cannabis legalization and blaming RINO Rauner for all the problems he won't fix.

Motorists: Get off your phones and read the signs. Here's what some of them say:

1) Slower Traffic Keep Right

2) Pull Over for Emergency Vehicles

3) School Zone - 20 mph

Car Manufacturers: Stop designing cars with touch screen entertainment systems

This is, I believe nearly twenty Illinois Troopers struck and injured while in the roadway doing their job.
Sadly, two were killed this year as well.
The National Memorial in Washington DC (May 13-15) will again remember, honor and salute all our fallen HERO's.
God Bless and watch over all our family in law enforcement.

It stops when judges stop giving fines or probation or community service and start jailing people, seizing their vehicle selling it at auction and giving the proceeds the owner/lien holder for payment of fines for court costs or loans from banks. When bars are held liable for over serving or home owners who let the driver leave their home drunk. Show the scene photos in court, the autopsy too, let the jury see how ugly it is when you kill someone, no sympathy for the wrong way asshole, there's no excuse period.

Palatine Rd crosses 294 & west of the tollway almost a defacto highway itself - multiple lanes & 45-50mph speed limits w/ concrete barriers between EB/WB traffic.

About 3 mos ago, a Saturday night driving home late WB, noticed headlights coming at me on MY SIDE of the traffic barriers. At first, it's surreal then SCARY. Pulled to the right as far as I could and the wrong way driver (I assumed DUI-ing) went by me.

I watched in my rear view mirror other cars do the same. Never heard any news of a head-on so assume the guy somehow made it to the next exit w/o killing anybody.

Won't soon forget that experience ... I had 10-15 seconds to react, can't even imagine not tho ...
Sincere thoughts to the trooper's heartbroken loved ones. Brutal.

Godspeed brother so frustrated right now, but here is an idea how about this Eddie even though you decimated our traffic how about 1 2 man car every district ride the expressway in the most corrupt city-state-county we could ride dan ryan, the 55 and everywhere in chiraq area. We could assist them, lets get those speeding assholes, the texters and the rest write the tickets tow the dam cars. Young troopers lives lost senselessly, due the fact of assholes driving to fast, some probably drunk or high, dam wait until fatasss legalizes weed, then we will have even more. Colorado has an uptick in major traffic crashes since the legalization bullshit.

Lets do this enforcement to assist isp for 1 month are you onboard Eddie or are you mr fenner and mrs fenerr getting ready for another cheating lieutenants exam?

It truly has become the Wild West. 15 trooper vehicles struck within 3 months. Shootings weekly on the expressway. Stop signs mean absolutely nothing. Yellow lights mean hit the gas. Phone in one hand, Dog on the lap, etc. Now more and more vehicles with blacked out tinted windows. Lord only knows what’s going on inside those vehicles. Best advice, increase uninsured and underinsured coverage on your auto insurance. Guarantee that the stroke that plows into you will have no license or insurance. Just saying...

#1 Thoughts and prayers to the ISP Troopers and their families. I woke up this morning and said "What!" It kinda hit me hard as I'm sure it did them.GOD please watch over them.

#2 Before I was OTJ I worked in sales for a major manufacturer of Police and Fire lights, Federal Sign & Signal in Blue Island. One of our major competitors was the Whelan Mfg company on the east coast. They used strobes, we had rotating lights. Our main sales focus against them was Officer safety that with the strobes, you didn't know where the car/officer was at.Our light bars(Twin-Sonic,Aero-Dynac) were pretty much a a back and forth pattern that distinctly marked the car, rather than the rock show that we all see now. The strobes seem to attract the distracted drivers and by no means on what ever road you are on offer any officer safety

Many years ago (mid-80's) while working a beat car in Englewood, I pursued a jag-off E/B down Garfield Blvd. as he blew through multiple red lights. He made the Dan Ryan, but I was intent on not letting this jag-off get away. Chased him onto the Ryan and finally got him stopped at about 87th Street. Those few minutes that I was standing on the shoulder, with cars flying past at 80 -90 miles an hour were more scary than any other traffic stop I have ever made in my life. We don't appreciate how dangerous the job is for these Troopers, who do dozens of these stops during a routine tour. God bless these people. I would never want your job.

To the offending driver, I hope you rot in hell. If I knew were your grave site was, I’d piss on it. Or if you’re being cremated, piss on your ashes. You fucking can’t pay attention probably blacked out drunk, jagoff. We’ve all had a few pops and drove, but for the love of god, there’s a difference between a quick two three beers and not knowing your going the wrong way on the highway. Fuck you, you deserved to die and you alone, not the trooper.

Speed limits mean nothing in Illinois. Start enforcing speed limits. The speed limit is 80 MPH on South Dakota interstates where cars are few and far between. 80 MPH is common on congested Chicago-area expressways. Start ticketing these little dickheads!

That a State Trooper would direct his car onto oncoming wrong way driver does not suprise me. They are angels on the highway. men and women of the utmost integrity.

I have been rescued twice by State of Illinois troopers, once below zero the most recent on a cold blizzardy night on I57. Trooper got me a tow truck when AAA couldnt after 3 hours in the cold.

This country has lot respect for law enforcement and laws.

May G-d hold you in his arms and my deepest utmost gratitude for your service and all State Police. Thank you

May the trooper rest in peace this is ridiculous though happening way too much we need to help them enforce the laws why can’t we go on expressways and help and assist our brothers in blue? Without a doubt the new Illinois State police director has no clue on how to be the police because he was never the police he’s a political hack at least when we had Leo there he was the police not to say nothing would’ve happened if you were still there but at least he knew how to conduct missions also to advise the troopers and what to do! We all would’ve also requested the help of neighboring towns and also to city of Chicago to help the troopers without a doubt!

12:04 pm You are correct, speed limits mean nothing. Travelled to Florida recently and it's the same thing. Speed limit 70, and if you are 5 over you had better be in the right lane and and accept stares and middle finger waving. The only time I saw FHP was when they were at the scene of an accident. Just like here in Illinois, no Troopers issuing tickets just handling crashes. Where are the states priorities? It is not the Trooper's fault, there is just not enough of them on the road.

God rest this Trooper’s soul. We have the same lack of CHP officers here in California that you guys have in Illinois. Apparently, the corrupt democrats in charge of our states think it’s ok to starve our State Police agencies down to a skeleton crew. I used to see CHP EVERYWHERE 10-15 years ago.... now you can drive 50 miles on any freeway and never see one. Very sad.
