Rivera Wake

  • Family, colleagues and neighbors are paying their respects to slain Chicago Police Officer John Petty Rivera on the Far South Side Thursday.

A line of mourners could be seen entering the Elmwood Funeral Home, 11200 S. Ewing Avenue, for Rivera's wake Thursday afternoon. Rivera, 23, was off-duty when he was gunned down in River North early Saturday.

Rivera and a small group of friends had just left a restaurant on the 600 block of North Clark Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, and were sitting in a car nearby when they were fired upon. A 23-year-old male friend of Rivera’s was also critically wounded.

CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson described the attack as a hate crime since Rivera was targeted; not because he was a police officer, but because he was Latino. Police say his alleged killers had a run-in with some Latinos on a party bus earlier, and after failing to locate them and retaliate, opened fire on the first Hispanic man they saw.
It is certainly unfortunate that the Smellit circus is obscuring from the even worse story that a person charged with a Class X felony of Home Invasion with a gun, who wasn't even close to complying with the terms of bail, was released by a crooked judge, abetted by a corrupt state's attorney, managed to commit a hate crime by attacking a random stranger, who happened to be a cop.

RIP Officer Rivera.

Cook County Criminal Justice System allowed this felon, that should be locked up, to walk the streets and kill. Like Bauer's killer should have been behind bars. How long before they start keeping these mfs behind bars, instead of giving them low bonds, home monitoring, or simply dropping charges on these azzholes???

So many cases in which prosecutors and judges fumble the ball and allow assholes back onto the streets. There really needs to be some discussion of the "immunity" that cloaks idiots who free people you know are going to hurt somebody else! ASA's act like PD's and judges seem more worried about what's for lunch! Folks, or..., you have a duty to protect society!

Show mercy to the merciless.

This is the thanks they give you.

This, as in so many other events, is way beyong the frog being kind to the scorpion.

This is scorpions infesting the crook county judiciary and forcing the frogs to submit to being stung at the will of the scorpion's whim.

The only if only here is: if only those pussies on the party bus had whacked instead of taunted.

The use of the word "random" to describe human behavior is always an attempt to obscure the truth on some level. Humans never act randomly. This is why authorities and media, whenever there are attacks of a certain demographic nature, sometimes before any facts are known, are always eager to describe it as "random".

A vote for Lightfoot is a vote against Big Tonie and her spawn "Foxx da FIXER".

Foxx da FIXER will be up for re-election next year. Let's send a strong political message to resign now in shame or be defeated in the next election in shame.

Good luck trying to get the Chicago media to ask any tough questions here. The judges and the prosecutor's office have zero accountability because the media takes its orders from the democrat machine. Next you’ll hear that doofus mayor saying this was Trump’s fault and 80% of the city will be nodding in agreement.

Also, if you’re waiting for the voters to fix this mess they created in the first place, you better have a Plan-B. Cook County voters have the collective IQ of a doorknob.

That is concise,to the point, and truthful why not close down the county court system so full of corruption, and judges who are not even qualified to shine shoes, huge waste of scare taxpayers money!

Godspeed to our brother.

In big cities all over America is's a very under reported story how lousy the relations are between African Americans and Hispanics. Blacks are actually being forced out of LA neighborhoods they have lived in for decades by Mexican gangbangers. But, hey, why bother if you can't blame the honkies somehow?

Thank you SCC. You and CWB are the only ones as usual shining a light on this TRUE “whitewash of justice.” I mean, the Smollett thing is seriously messed up on so many levels and deserves this heat. But no blood was shed. No lives were lost. No heroes were taken from us too soon because of the INCOMPETENCE of the SA office and the decision of a crooked, jag off judge. Not to mention, how was he still in the hiring process for CPD 4 months after being arrested for beating the shit out of his gf and endangered his baby? How “lucky” they all are that there was conveniently an emergency hearing for Smollett the Monday morning after Rivera was killed by this animal who should have been locked up. That the media circus focused on Smollett and all their sins against Officer Rivera would fade into oblivion. Not that I have much hope the mainstream media would’ve done anything anyway. RIP Officer Rivera. You deserved so much better.
