- The Chicago Police Department’s dress-blue graduation ceremony was winding down at Navy Pier on Tuesday when Superintendent Eddie Johnson and Mayor Rahm Emanuel hurried off the stage for some jolting news: The case against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, meticulously pieced together by more than a dozen detectives, had been abruptly dropped by prosecutors.
Both Johnson and Emanuel were infuriated, not just because the charges were dismissed but because prosecutors had not informed investigators first. Johnson said the decision allowed Smollett to hide behind a secret deal. The mayor was more blunt: "This sends an unambiguous message that there is no accountability."
The relationship between the Police Department and the state's attorney's office has always been uneasy and often tense as investigators gather evidence and prosecutors decide whether it's enough for charges. Over the years, Chicago detectives have complained their work has resulted in too few defendants being charged or the charges being reduced or, as in this case, dismissed altogether.
But the Smollett case now threatens to deepen the distrust and suspicion.
Yeah, that distrust was predestined as soon as the incompetent lawyer supported by the Prickwrinkle machine and Soros money was elected. It's amazing how many people don't know that this is by design, in all the blue parts of the United States, electing unqualified "progressives" to positions where they can do the most damage.

But for the still lingering concept that summoning the police = the required, and only, thing to do, (no, not in the ghetto, south or west or far north, but in those areas being wantonly hunted and harvested), the many, and there are many, inhabitants doing just what the laws of nature require can ensure that no one gets to shit where I, the resident, live more than once.
It is this illusion, that law enforcement is the only means to ensure civilized normal safety from violent criminal predatory activities, that is way past it's effectiveness.
The minding our own, honest, peaceful, honorable business inhabitants can contribute to the significant to substantial reductions in violent criminal activities, IF the illusion of summoning law enforcement to do a Mighty Mouse is accepted as the counter productive illusion that it is.
And this especially includes the illusion that "justice", in crook county and shitty city, is the same as effective reductions in violent criminal activities.
Just remember, the cook county states attorneys office is what it is, you get what you get, they are what they are, for the criminal...right tony?

No felony charges is the answer. Somebody gets shot, stabbed etc, misdemeanors and send to court. Burglary robbery etc, misdemeanors send to court. Homicide is the only call to ASA forget about the rest. The community gets what they want and now they got it. How many dumb ass voters in the "homeland" areas of the city voted for Foxx, Prickhead, Dart, Durbin, Jabba etc? The voters don't care why should the cops.
The problem is when the person put in that position believes that they are competent and deserve the position, no different than a commanders secretary making merit Detective or Sergeant. This is all the fault of anyone that votes for the progressive, JB hasn’t even started yet, just wait.
This states attorneys office has been downgrading charges since she was elected.
That has been the status on every felony case I have had in past two years.
The union should do a FOIA request of states attorney records.
Just to see how cases were presented and how they were ended in court?
Also do a FOIA of how many of these offenders were released and how many were rearrested for another felony?
I know in my District the process of being released from home monitoring means within a week the offender is right back at old
tricks until they are hooked up again.

You are absolutely right. The CPD Detective Division gets criticized constantly because our "clearance rate" pales in comparison to other major cities. The truth of the matter is, other major cities do not have a "felony review" process. They investigate and charge the case, handing it over to the local prosecutors (District Attorney, State's Attorney, etc.) for PROSECUTION. ONLY in Cook County, Illinois, do the prosecutors get to "hand-pick" which cases they will charge and take to trial. This is complete nonsense and the only reason felony review was created was to ensure that the democrat running for re-election could boast of a 99% conviction rate. To any citizens reading this blog, you need to call your alderman and demand that felony review be eliminated. It's NOT the law. It's a handshake agreement between the CPD and the Cook County State's Attorney!

I think it's time for the Police Department to sack up and end the calling of Felony Review for anything other than making sure everything is tight on major cases like Murders, Shootings, and other major capers. Felony review is a joke.
