Jussie Fallout

  • Dozens of workers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital may have been fired for improperly reviewing the medical records of Jussie Smollett, who was treated at the emergency room after he claimed he had been attacked by two men.
"Dozens."

So this hoax comes not just with a theoretical body count (other hate crime victims will be deemed unbelievable or hesitate to come forward) but now it comes with an actual jump in the unemployment numbers. And seeing as how this is (allegedly) a pretty egregious breach of medical protocol, it's not out of the realm of possibility that their future job prospects might be compromised.

We'll bet they were all Shrillary voters, too.

Hey?! Maybe Special Ed can have Northwestern conduct this investigation, too!
  • Chicago Police have opened an internal investigation into the source of information leaked anonymously to media during the department’s investigation of “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett and an alleged hate crime targeting the actor.

Edward Wodnicki, chief of detectives for CPD’s Area Central, started the probe after disorderly conduct charges were filed against the actor in February after a nearly month-long investigation that began when Smollett reported he had been attacked by two men in Streeterville early on Jan. 29 who beat Smollett and shouted racial and homophobic slurs, CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
Great - another Special Ed.

Of course, they have. They have to. The police needs to be made the cause of the Smollet attack. The brass & pols had it all bottled up as a MAGA attacker until someone leaked the truth. Then all the anti MAGA rhetoric whet down the drain......when the truth got out...

Doesn't this come under the 'whistle blower' statute?

FUNNY how Smollett was not even mentioned on the Lame Debate between Lightfoot and Preckwinkle tonight?

Just a bunch of softball questions by Carol Marin with no BIG questions like-
what do you think of all the Police resources wasted on Smollett AND would you charge Smollett for the costs?

That could have been a good follow-up question to the Police questions she raised BUT, little political Cheerleader Carol would not put either candidate on the frying pan for some real answers. No, she is more a rah-rah person for all the political hacks.

Did not learn much from the debate except BOTH candidates would NOT be too good for Chicago. Both are long-time political beneficiaries of the Chicago Machine.

Preckwinkle claims she ran Cook County so well - what about a follow-up question about the LAME Soda Tax?? Again - no real hard questions by Marin.

Not much about cutting spending either. What about cutting down City Council to 12-20 Aldermen positions??

If we are going to save the City- we need to take on some drastic cuts.

Wodnocki.

The first time I met the guy I had no idea who he was. I was on the floor at Area Central and heard some idiot blathering on about how the consent decree was going to be “really good” for the department. I was like who is this? Oh, our new commander. Fuck. Sad but true story.

Then came the Van Dyke verdict. We were all placed in uniform and were given briefings on the floor. On two different days I heard this: “Anything to add, Commander?”

“Yeah. I can’t emphasize enough the importance that you all have the correct name tags AND they have the correct unit designator. Any sergeant that sees a detective without a nametag has been instructed to immediately issue a SPAR.”

Personally heard this twice. We were all a little concerned about riots and the crazy lefties burning down our homes, and the guy won’t shut the fuck up about fucking name tags. That was his only input, by the way. Name tags. I felt like I was on that HBO show Generation Kill where they won’t stop talking about grooming standards.

I got a sawbuck on Jussie filing a suit against Northwestern and getting a high 6 to low 7 figure settlement of which he promptly donates to some "victims of hate crimes" group.
People (and Folks) will immediately recognize how much of humanitarian he is (be) to the point that all charges will either be quietly dismissed or reduced to something like "Ordering a Hot Dog with Ketchup." All of Hollywood will celebrate and the Poe-Leece will be, yet again, left holding the bag in the court of 'munnerty O'Pinion (and if anyone knows about holding bags it's the 'munnerty).

Hospitals are death on HIPPA violations. Knew a highly trained ICU nurse who accessed the med records of an injured police officer who wasn't in her unit. Gone before the smoke cleared. And good luck finding another job, HIPPA violations are the third rail of medicine, about like a cop who has been proven to have lied on the stand. Might get interviews, but there will always be someone 'more qualified' that gets the job. They might want to practice their 'do you want fries with that?' spiel.

When a hospital has an employee look at a patient's record without a valid reason that is considered a privacy breach under federal law - HIPAA. The hospital has to report that to the feds - Health and Human Services. HHS will then open an investigation and require the hospital to send a ton of documentation that proves that they are following all of HIPAA's security and privacy standards. This can be thousands of pages of documentation. Things like hospital policies and procedures, HIPAA training courses that employees are required to complete, proof that all employees completed the training, risk assessments, etc. It takes a lot of time and staff to get everything together. Once HHS gets the documentation they asked for, they then go through and analyze everything. Anything not in compliance with HIPAA can result in hefty fines. Millions of dollars in fines. That's why hospitals fire employees who go snooping.
