Officers Honored

  • Lying on his belly, at a distance of about 70 yards, a Chicago Police SWAT team member fired his rifle and ended the mass shooting at Mercy Hospital that shocked the city in November.

On Tuesday, Officer Elvis Turcinovic was honored for his bravery alongside several other officers who rushed toward the gunfire that day.

    [...]

Officer Bernardo Quijano was trying to pull a wounded doctor to safety behind a squad car when he felt “two punches” hit his right hip — bullets that went through his holster and lodged in his gun. He was uninjured.

“We did the best we could that day, regardless of the outcome,” Quijano said.
An amazing job under horrible circumstances. Well done Officers.

You hit the nail directly on the head officer.....
You all did the best you could, in a chaotic and messy nightmare of a situation. Acted admirably and with honor.

We are all proud of your heroics that day. And even though it did end tragically for our department and city, you should still hold your head high.
You truly embodied what the job, and the Chicago Police Department is all about.
It is undoubted that you all put your lives directly on the line, stepped knowingly and intentionally into danger, and without doubt saved many more lives that day by your actions.
I- and the entire department, and city, couldn’t be more proud of you.

Thank you.

Good work officers, Congrats. Too bad the MSM doesn’t pick up on it and spread the word that police officers wear the white hats in society.

Thanks for a job well done and UNDER appreciated.

These Officers are the best. I wish they did not have to answer questions. They should not have to relive this pain in a public forum with the media asking questions. Their faces showed it all. God Bless them and may they heal the best they can.

Thank you for your service officers. It’s nice to see the media portraying you in a positive way for a change. The citizens need to pay attention to these type of stories. These are the guys that represent majority of the police force, not the bad apples!

Elvis your reward for your bravery from EJ, rotating watches and the 6-2 work schedule. A hearty fuck you. EJ isn't smart enough to realize he only makes himself look like a petty punk who never deserved his first white shirt. Worst sup ever.

The Sgt. who was one of the first on scene took immediate control of the scene while being shot at. Sgt. W.H. entered the hospital in pursuit of the shooter with a team of others. Sgt. W.H. was totally shut out of any recognition. The Tact Lt. made sure he put himself into be recognized in D.C. with 3 others. The Lt. did nothing and took the recognition away from others.
Sgt. W.H. your professional calm control of the scene prevented the nightmare of that day from being worse then it already was. Your direction and control saved many others. Give acknowledgment to those deserved. Great Job Sgt. W.H.

Fact the Lt was the first officer to make entry into the hospital and find the shooter. Elvis, the Lt and Sam was running together when Sam was taken from us (he was actually behind the Lt).

LT did nothing?? There were many detectives assigned to this who watched the videos. There are video cameras all over the hospital in addition to the BWC. When everyone was using there cars for cover in front and had not entered the hospital the LT talked with them and then entered all by himself. Jimenez, LT and SWAT shooter are running down the hall when Sam is killed. Radios didn’t work inside Mercy, only in lobby.

If you didn’t see the videos, shut your jealous mouth. LT and Sam tried to follow Elvis down the hallway when gunman opened fire at Elvis. Sam was hit immediately and the LT is very lucky he didn’t get shot as well. Elvis may have finished the job but both Sam and LT dispayed lot of courage. Unfortunately we lost a brother who paid the ultimate sacrifice and there is no award worthy of that. I’ll be first to admit, the SWAT guys have a different mindset with these types of things. Yes it takes balls but I’m sure it has lot to do with their training. There were 2 more SWAT guys that ran with Elvis toward the shooter after Elvis shot him. They also deserve a balls of steel award. However they are completely left out of this. Look carefully! Here is the video:

Every cop on scene deserves an award for that thay.
