Nine Guns

Once again, the CWB blog seems to be doing the only actual crime reporting in town. We had no idea this happened Sunday:

• Chicago police recovered two assault rifles and seven handguns along with ammunition following a six-hour SWAT standoff in Lincoln Park on Sunday afternoon, according to a police department spokesperson. The guns have been turned over to the crime lab for testing.
  
  Three persons were taken into custody, including one man who was wanted for questioning—but not for arrest—in connection with a homicide, police said. No charges have yet been filed.

  Shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday, two women called 911 and reported that they were hiding in the bathroom of a home in the 2400 block of North Clybourn because some men at a party had guns. Moments later, another 911 caller reported that a woman had been pistol-whipped at the party.
  
  Occupants of the home refused to answer the door when officers arrived, so a Cook County State’s Attorney was summoned to navigate legal issues while a SWAT team mobilized nearby.
  
  Other officers on the scene began running license plates of vehicles in the home’s parking lot, and two stolen cars were located. Both vehicles were recovered for their owners.

Nine guns, two hot cars, a SWAT deployment at an AirBnB rental party....in Lincoln Park? Seems like a big deal.

Also, if you run through their main page, you can find all sorts of felony arrests, along with the judges who release them on recognizance bonds. It's like a "Who not to vote for" list most weekends.
