Security or Police?
Remember the "disbanded" Aviation Police? They got new rides:
The car has "Security" stickers all over the place.....but the plates say "Police."
Anyone at CDOT or Aviation care to explain?

You think we have it bad?
Was that from O’Hare or Midway? Was someone “throwing shade” at Ginger? “Throwing shade”...that’s what all the kids are saying these days, right?
Lol!
This kind of reminds...
Remember when Shortshanks had a fit of pique
and contrived to give the Revenue'er
boot crews CPD-style badges?
"They're 'Officers' now..."
Funny shit.
Especially when some of them got sassy
with a member of Dude Inc. on the Kildare
block of West Jackson...
>Lower sash hitting the stops
and a pistol emerges from the window<
"All I saw wuz FIRE, office!"
Good Times.
Past be prologue an' shit.
See where this actually goes...
security theater vis a vis TSA....
Yes, vehicles purchased using cpd budget. They need to have mp plates
M over S... Municipal Security
I see a lot of mp plates, including vanity style, which can't possibly be police related. I think it's the new trend. Follow the inflated talking head and/or money trail. Maybe they're given out like car medals for survivin pot holes or merits?
Keep laughimg - it's the only remaining survival method.
.
The Aviation Police Department was screwed over by that idiot Ginger Evans. She's incompetent. Seems to be a lot of people like that holding office in Chicago.
So what happens if the thugs etc See them driving around outside the perimeter of the airport which they do on patrol and see these plates on the car thinking they are the real police and an incident happens now what? Typical of what the city does jeopardizes everything and everyone to fit their narrative and what it whatever the narrative is no one knows more and more idiocy in charge!
2FM. Ask them.
Maybe they are going to make them police again, which taking the status away was moronic anyway, and the thing is Ginger the former overpaid head of aviation got terminated for so many things like this! Just goes to show the gross incompetence of rahms appointees as usual! Hopefully Lightfoot will slash and burn removing many from every department especially CPD which leads in incompetence.
Take that up with the City.
MP plates are what the vehicle had before the whole deal with the Video the other year and the shit that happened with the job title change.
You think the City is going to pay to have the vehicle Re-Plated?
Also, while I'm thinking of it...
As part of the grieveance that the Aviation Security/Police employees are bringing against the city...the Restoration of the Title Police Officer as well as Side Arm Carry is on the table.
Violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
The future. And still unarmed too. CPD airport unit to be disbanded soon come July 1st.
Are you kidding? No one at aviation or CDOT is smart enough to know what the MP on the license plate stands for. Take a survey. Ask a random amount of people from each department. They won't have a clue what MP stands for.
Sure, the cars are owned by the City of Chicago registered to the police. AVIATION pays the city for every cop and cars assigned to the airports. There is no way I would work for aviation police or security without a gun. And if the city thinks these folks are not qualified to carry guns, then why hire these goofs. Especially 75 year old retired coppers.
The explanation is: We are too dumb to notice.
The MP on the plates stand for municipal plates. Not police. DUH.
It means the same thing now a days; SECURITY or POLICE!
Wow when you think this department can't get more upside down.
They are not police
It's part of rahms illusion that he hired more police
They are security guards no weapons but they hide well when shit happens
So if they turn on their lights and sirens I don't have to pull over?
This is branding scam to get plush transportation
complete with customer friendly optics for the flying
public. A win-win-win.

No it is not the CPD budget the Department of aviation uses their own budget which is massive divided vehicles they use their own budget even to buy the vehicles that say Chicago police on the side so that theory doesn’t work
Looks like SOS needs to conduct an investigation into misuse of state registration designated for LE.
Actually I'm thinking they are the lucky ones never having to be the Police.

I wonder what you can’t do with the plates? It just costs more to do it. Look for rate and fine increases in the secretary of state’s office. Not only does Mr. White have to take care of untold generations of his clan, he now has the Berrios clan in his office too! He keeps getting voted back into office. Guess with enough relatives and friends, you could have enough votes...;)

The Aviation Police debacle was collateral damage left by the pissing contest between Aviation Commissioner and Ed Burke.

They've been driving around the airport with marked vehicles for almost 30 years without incident. Jesus, get over yourself would you/
This is an old vehicle, when replaced, they will have new plates. Also, CPD at the airport is under the aviation budget. Everything there is paid for by aviation, regardless of which agency is using it

Totally false The cars do not come out of the CPD budget and neither does anything else for the department of aviation.
I was with Des Plaines PD and one of these cars stopped a carload of shitheads on touchy and called us because they thought the driver was dui. Driver was not dui, but all four in the car had long sheets. Lucky the aviation wwhatever weren’t hurt
I’m actually surprised that they are not out of state license plates.

No. DOA Security falls under the Chicago Dept Of Aviation budget. The CPD budget does not pay for the cars at either airport.

Not even close. Comes from the Department of Aviation Budget which is actually funded by the airlines
I believe O’Hare/MDW PD budget is separate from Aviation budget.
In fact, Aviation in the past used to buy all the CPD vehicles for 050/051.
They don’t get R-service and are repaired at O’Hare garage.
Some clout heavy deadbeat civilian didn’t want to be troubled or take the time to re-register all those 30-40 AV vehicles to M-municipal plates that are on all the other aviation vehicles.
Maybe the Inspector General can nudge the lazy duffs.
Maybe Andy Shaw and his Better Gubmint Assoc. can file an FOI and sort through that budget while the IG is working on it.
But really, it seems so trivial and more like just another CPD - AVS tizzy.
Can all just get along?
Gotta run.

To operate a vehicle with those plates, Illinois law requires the driver to be a state certified Police Officer.

Now that is true and these vehicles are brand new with brand new plates so they know what they are doing in the aviation dept right? They need to be made police again it is ridiculous they respond to calls on the unsecured side of the airport and if an incident happens what can they do but run away with no protection of any kind? Another of the list of rahms complete failures of any leadership, wonder if he is stepping down because the feds are all over city hall will he be next?
Strong rumor, Both airport police units to be disbanded and only 2 officers will be assigned to a satellite office per watch just to process reports or arrests. MONTERREY SECURITY will split airport security withUnited Securiry who is owned by Rick Simon. GARRY McCarthy will run that with Juan Gaytan from Monterrey. there is no need for a full police unit at either airport.
Just checked what this job stands for, they actually trying to hire somebody and paying 13.80$ for start, unbelievable, I hope these guys will succeed with their lawsuit and get their powers back
If the pay was the same I'd rather be unarmed Aviation.
Maybe these guys are luckier then they think. I'd be happy to not have to be the Police nowadays. Believe me quite a few in 050 aren't and never have been.
CPD hates Aviation Security/police until they retire from CPD and want to get on with Aviation. Stand your ground and stop taking the well paid “security” jobs! Hypocrites!
I thought it stood for Monty Python's Flying Circus.
So, quit the complaining and go write some easy tickets! Bank some activity.
Run & Hide...

Actually they had the green M plate prior to theses new MP plates... my kid works out there...
“I thought it stood for Monty Python's Flying Circus”
Hahaha.. best comment here.
What do I care. My clout couldn't get me to O'Hare, and I don't have the time on yet. I will probably retire before I can get to 050 by bid.

It is security from now so they pay accordingly 13.80$ per hour, no more 57 k sweet gig
Since the job doesn’t pay police salary anymore I believe this agency experienced a massive exodus , now they running an open house.
To the 'know nothing" who believes MP means Municipal Plates. You are wrong. Google it. It means Municipal Police. Clearly, DOA Security are NOT police. They play police when they shouldn't and are a liability. You only have to look at the International mess they made of the United incident. No disrespect to those DOA who understand their role and job function. The plates on their vehicles should NOT be MP, they should be the same as every other security company, just regular passenger plates. Just because the vehicles are owned and operated by the Department of Aviation, does not give them carte blanche to do what they want. They need to follow the rules and laws like everyone else.

Sounds like you make up the strong rumor
Where would the put all the po’s and supervisors they are trying to hide out there. Never happen

Write them, improper registration....

They should have M (municiple) plates....... The plates cost a one time charge and no renewals....too expens9ive for the city? then close the airport.
Ask the former po academy gym instructor now sgt security guess he ran out of money
wtf re we paying goofs like this
Uh? Municipal plates start with an m police plates are m over p. Good lord just look at a streets ñ sans truck what do those plates look like?

My guess is they haven’t spent much time on the street
Make them full sworn and have them rebid citywide to get back to the airport.I bet they would enjoy playing police in 005th district. They are nothing but scabs when both airports should have more actual cpd manpower.

Who told you that. The pay is the same, only title changed
This is so stupid. They need to either be police or security; one or the other. And if they're security, they should be paid like security and equipped like security. But if they're going to be police, they need to be police in every way. That means armed, qualified, trained, equipped, paid, the full nine yards. No more of this aviation police/security which really just means police pay for mall cop work.
