No Bail
- A 19-year-old woman was ordered held without bail after allegedly shooting a Chicago police officer who showed up at her Humboldt Park neighborhood home Saturday night to serve a search warrant for drugs and illegal weapons.
Emily Petronella was charged Sunday with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon, armed violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm and manufacture and delivery of over 5,000 grams of cannabis, according to Chicago police. She also faces a misdemeanor charge for a bail bond violation.
Officers were serving a search warrant at 7:18 p.m. at the two-story home in the 2700 block of West Potomac when Petronella fired through a rear door, striking one of the cops in his shoulder, police said.
And the defense lawyer makes this laughable claim:
- Petronella’s attorney, Stefan Fenner, argued that his client didn’t know it was the police. He said the shooting happened “at night after dark when [Petronella] is home alone… with someone battering a door from the rear.”
“It is an issue of announce your honor,” said Fenner, who hopes footage from officers’ body cameras will affirm his client’s side of the story.
A first grade student might ask, "Why didn't she call the police that someone was breaking in?" Well Junior, that would have something to do with the ten pounds of weed and thousands in cash of unknown origin.

Hey man, do not be shocked when it works in court. It happened to two cops from 189 who were shot doing a search warrant. The jury was told that the Offender thought he was being broken into by gang members or something... Jury of your peers, in Cook county, is a sad thing.
Let's not heap too much praise on Miller just yet. There was no downside for her to give to give no bail. The offender is due back in court tomorrow. Everything could change.
Miller is a piece of garbage sitting on the bench. She does exactly what is expected of her. Evans told her no bond because even he knows there is a line judges shouldn’t cross with LE officers watching.
This will be pleaded down to something much less by Foxx and company. Just wait and see.

If i remember correctly, it's illegal to shoot through a closed door period. Doesn't matter what is going on on the other side.

But either way, of course, that's a major haul.

During a recent well being check on an elderly with an open garage door and no initial response at the front door, knocked on solid rear entrance & announced. Even Grandma had the presence of mind to not open the door and to say "please present yourself at front door so I can see you". Honest people tend to react honestly.
