100 Stolen Benzes?
- The Chicago Police Department released a statement Wednesday afternoon warning of fraud against a rental company that believes scammers are using a mobile app to rent high-end vehicles.
The rental company, Car2Go, said some of its vehicles, specifically, Mercedes-Benzes, may have been taken through deceptive practices, the statement said.
A Car2Go spokesman said the company is suspending its service in Chicago for the time being.
"We are currently working with law enforcement to neutralize a fraud issue," said the spokesman. "No person or confidential member information has been compromised.”
As many as 22 stolen Mercedes-Benzes were recovered Wednesday by police and about a dozen people were arrested, according to law enforcement sources.
No rental agreements? Just a hackable app? Our sources say thirty cars were recovered on the west side (010, 011) just Wednesday and upwards of twenty persons are in custody. Guess what one of the cars was used for?
- A 25-year-old man was also seen in a stolen vehicle tied to the fraud shortly before getting into a squabble with a security guard Tuesday afternoon near Madison Street and Homan Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, law enforcement sources said. The man, who had a gun, was shot in the right ear by the security guard and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Winnetka police rolled up to Edward Burke, Jr.’s home on Friday, June 29 2018 rfor a domestic battery call. Burke’s wife told dispatchers he was “extremely intoxicated, naked, acting violently and destroying furniture.” Dispatchers were told he had two loaded firearms on the first floor.
The police report says Burke’s wife injured her arm falling after he pushed her and said she feared for her safety.
Under the terms of his bond, Burke was ordered to turn over the two pistols and his FOID card and ordered not to have contact with the victim.
Then Winnetka Police made the decision to file a report stating that Burke posed a “clear and present danger” and asked for the state to revoke his FOID card. A detective signed off on the form, but before that form was processed by state police, the case was dismissed and Burke’s 9 mm pistols were returned.
The only thing court records show is that prosecutors decided to drop the charges.

Not to get off target, but did anyone read this article? It’s criticizing wealthy devout Catholics who donated money to rebuild the Notre Dame cathedral. Basically it says that it’s “white privilege” because how quickly the money came in to rebuild the cathedral when other countries like South Africa or Brazil need just a few million for some shit museum. This fucking “white privilege” and “anti-police” and “anti-Christianity” crap is really getting under my skin. Ever wonder why the cost of car insurance never goes down? They say that when you get older it will drop. That’s a lie! You move to a different section of the city it drops, than goes up again! Wrong, they were working with the arresting officers (like detectives often do) to try for felony charges. State came out and wouldn’t approve anything. They were also working with Car2Go to figure out how many cars were missing and trying to locate any fraudulent vehicles. FYI, those 100 stolen vehicles were reported all at the same time when Car2go realized they were rented with stolen credit cards. You can’t lock someone up for a stolen car if the owner/victim doesn’t report it stolen. It’s also hard to investigate a crime that isn’t reported by a victim. It sounds like you put in for this unit because you wanted a cushy spot and a take home car but couldn’t make the cut because you’d actually have to do some work so now you’re on the blog talking shit.

Had one of these Benz totaled downtown on Wednesday. First, crashed into a FF’s parked car in front of the firehouse. She was so wasted she took off but accidentally came back to the firehouse. Then, after being told to stay put, she took off again and destroyed some guys car, throwing it onto the sidewalk. Luckily, nobody was standing there. She gave zero fucks about what she did in either wreck, and even tried to insinuate that the FF hit her car first in the first accident, while it was parked, and he was inside the building!! Too funny.
I've been shot in the ear before. Thank Goodness it has always been "friendly fire".
