Officers Honored

That guy who fell through the ice on Lake Michigan attempting to rescue his dog finally got to thank his rescuers:
  • It took courage, a dog leash and a human chain of six Chicago police officers to rescue the man from the perils of Lake Michigan as the polar vortex bore down on Chicago.

For their heroism, captured on police body camera footage, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation held a ceremony Tuesday morning to honor the six officers, including a sergeant, whose swift and coordinated response saved the man’s life.
There's body camera footage at the link and the story itself is something else, officers working as a team to form a human chain to drag the victim from the water. A great job all around.

That video is fucking wild. Some intense and scary shit. You guys did a terrific job. Worked with Del toro in 011 for a while, he’s a fucking class act, always real nice to everyone, old and young. As I’m sure all of these gentlemen are class acts, well deserved guys.

Congrats to the sergeant and the police officers. Good job! The man and his canine appeared to be sincerely grateful. Did not see Heavy Pee at the ceremony. Is he being basted on a beach somewhere?

job done. No star collars required, thank you very

Outstanding job by the officers! I have to ask though, Why is the Police Memorial Foundation honoring them? Isn't that supposed to be a charity group that raises money for the families of fallen officers? When did they start holding honors ceremonies? Not to take away from what the officers did at all, I'm just wondering why it's not the CPD honors ceremony? The department has one numerous times a year. Why are they doing the police departments job now? I know the FOP has honor ceremonies but when did the Chicago Police Memorial start having them? Is this something new? Who's the one that picks who gets honored?

OT I team 7 news on Kim Fox prosecution record does a story EJJ that was a delayed murder charge on a juvenile pending future adult felony convictions. In other words this kid got convicted of murder as a juvenile and the moment he got a felony conviction as an adult the 30 year murder sentence would enforced. Well what you think happened.

There's a lot more info in this article than in the original story. At least I recall it that way as I don't remember Six Officers with a Sergeant being involved in the rescue. And that video is something else, wow.

So GREAT WORK all around guys. You deserve the Honor & Recognition. (stay safe out there).

ps: Someone should put a copy of that video on a Thumb Drive, send it to Bobby Rush, and tell him to shove it up his ass!

The right place at the right time and a courageous act of humanity mostly ignored in the media.
These hero’s proved that they were prepared that day and everyday to meet any harrowing situation that most ordinary folk would stand back, watch and critique.

It’s something how the flaky degenerative Hollywood pays well for someone to create scenes like this and where politicians collude with looney hack actors to create hate crimes in a polar vortex to push an agenda.
The FakeNews too eager to highlight the vile commentary of Booby Rush and all his elected grandstanding biased accompaniment rather than devote any more to time that’s what the editors will allow to point out all the goodness that the police real do every 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Congrats to the brave officers. You deserve all of the awards and accolades coming your way but please.. stop going on TV. You are being used as political propaganda for the department so they can showcase your story on TV. Screw the media and screw the brass trying to use you as a puppet on stage. Respectfully decline. They can’t force you to go on TV. Be humble about it and don’t broadcast yourself on TV. I was “ordered” once to do it and respectfully declined several times and they had no choice but to do it without my partner and I. Don’t do this job to be on TV and used as a political trophy by the bosses. Do it, lope your head low and go home. Great work officers.

Oh please this story is a typical fibune race baiting smear campaign. Few stood behind fixxit. In my opinion, She's an incompetent racist, vindictive brain dead, freak show. Everyone, regardless of color, and especially every heartbroken community member mourning their child, is really upset criminals are bonding out faster than free food disappears after a 24 hour fast.

People are sick of seeing criminals running free and dual prosecution standards: harsh for whites, nothing for nonwhites. Been going on for 50 years. What races are doing 90% of the crime? I'll never read another fibune article again.

Not true at all 4/10/2019 02:14:00 PM - "You are being used as political propaganda for the department so they can showcase your story on TV..." This is the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation that is honoring the officers not the Department or the City. It's a nice gesture by the CPMF, they've been doing this every month for years. Let the good work get highlighted because it also highlights the good work of the CPMF. Everyone has the right to choose to be recognized. Nice job officers! It was good to see the positive story getting good media coverage. It's what CPD does everyday and people need to see that. This ain't no " brass trying to use you as a puppet on stage". Goof.

020 has a reputation for being a dog district but these guys proved the haters wrong. Great job guys! Was driving through Uptown on my way home during rush hour yesterday and got inconvenienced by a traffic closure on Sheridan. Found out later that it was a suspicious package and 020 secured a perimeter until an item was cleared by K9. Just wanted to give my appreciation to the officers who acted and made a potentially dangerous situation safe for the generally unknowing public. Out of curiosity though, I didn't see the academy acclaimed Elf at either scene.....

The heroism of these men is extraordinary. The honor is well deserved considering their remarkable rescue of man and beast from the frigid waters of Lake Michigan during the Polar Vortex.

You are the best among us, risking your lives to save others.

God Bless You Officers on being recognized for your bravery, valor and teamwork.

A grateful citizen from the NW side of Chicago.
