Just a little advice from an old time youth dick. PLEASE Officers when you lock these juvenile offenders up please use a state charge. Juvenile court does not have a corporation council there so we cannot send MCC arrests there. Its a waste of time. (I know, its a waste of time anyways at Juv court) At least the Juv court ASAs and the judges are forced to be involved in these wilding cases. You do your job by trying to protect downtown, now make the court system do its job. Thank you.

I was driving past Macy's on State Street at about 8:45 PM on Saturday, 4/13/19 and saw a slew of police vehicles outside the department store. There were also a huge number of black "youths" covering the sidewalk at State and Randolph. I was hoping to see something, anything on the news regarding this --- especially from Channel 7 since this occurred practically right outside the sudio. Yet, no coverage of the incident at all. Nothing. Crickets. WTF???
Channel 7 is a complete and total joke! With their fake smiling anchors and happy talk garbage, they push a narrative that is obvious and disgusting.

I was heading down LSD near midnight on Saturday and just took the Grand Ave exit to head to Lower Wacker. There was a whole god damned herd of young people running east towards Navy Pier. I am retired and I have not gone downtown in over 10 years. I just don't see the rationale to go there. When I want to shop I go to Oakbrook. Oakbrook has all the stores and some great restaurants. This comes from a person who lived in the Rush Street Area and was a fixture on Rush Street.

Generally, pretty much draw a circle around the Red Line stops from Roosevelt to Belmont, using the distance between stops as the radius.
Peak activity weekends and especially bad if it’s nice out.
Ground Zero stops: Roosevelt, Grand Ave, Chicago, Fullerton and Belmont.
I think statistically the most dangerous North Side stops are Fullerton & Belmont.
When in any of these zones keep your head on a swivel and watch 360 degrees immediately in front of you and telescoping your field of vision across the street, and a 1/2 block and beyond as far as you can see.
You want to train yourself to see the shit before you are in it.
Be especially vigilant when you are near where you live. Don’t let your observation regimens slack a block or so from home or entering your building.
Avoid people wearing Hoodies & carrying back packs.

I love watching the millennial police posting pictures of what’s going on in the middle of all this to Instagram and Snapchat. For gods sake be the police and put the phone down. It’s an absolute mental illness what’s going on with phones and social media. I drive around with recruits and they just sit with their phone in hand. Even if not looking at it it has to be in their hand at all times. They check something on it every 5 minutes to make sure they don’t miss an Instagram post from someone. You’re at work!!! Stop!! They are more worried about “looking” like the police on Instagram than they are really trying to be the police. It’s like everything.. selfies and Snapchat stories about all the “glamorous” things they are doing but in reality it’s all just staged for a picture. Everyone now has two things on their vest at all times.. that stupid hand sanitizer dangling off their vest which drives me crazy and a custom made mole pouch for their iPhone.. insane. Put it in a pocket and leave it there. If you need it use it but stop living on it and making it the most important thing in your life.

I got news for you, playing on the phones is not just a millennial phenomenon. I see veteran coppers guilty of the same thing. Look at any detail, crime scene or anywhere else and you’ll see cops of all ages and ranks playing on their phones.
