I voted for RAUNER. He was anything but perfect but he was still a damn sight better than this clown J B PRITZKER.

Obviously my vote meant nothing. PRITZKER the tax cheat got elected anyway.

People of Illinois, you’ve brought all of this on yourselves.

God help us all and protect our pensions.

I loathed RINO Rauner, but he blocked the uncontrolled spending. I voted for him.

But voters didn’t like that. They would rather have unbalanced budgets with out of control spending. They’ve got that now. But if you read leftist blogs like Politico or Madigan fanboy site Capitol Fax, everything is looking up.

owe, Indiana and Wisconsin are about to experience a windfall in new business. It won't be just gas and cigarettes, but beer wine and groceries and clothing. Once they fine out how pleasant shopping out of state can be they won't be spending their money in Illinois. Of course the midget minded legislatures calculated that into their lofty new revenue projections. NOT. There are about to be a new wave of convince store deserts. No where to by the Flaming bots and grape pop. LOL.

Make a day of it-- take IL41, not I94 --no tolls. 94 takes you back West out of your way and you only save 10-15 minutes. We are (albeit) slowly, becoming like I remember Canadians up along the Michigan border 30 years ago. Filling up 2 or 3 5 gallon gas cans in their trunk, buying other stuff in the US because it was cheaper and the sizes were larger.
Something was really a pound, not 14.55oz or 183.4425 Grams. Latest shrinkage I've seen around here is ice (again). 22lb bag is now 20lbs, although the little bags are still 7lbs.

buckle up for more and more taxes. The democrats, to include Lightfoot, are already talking about taxing pensions once the new tax law is passed. Understand this about Dem politicians. Common citizens are nothing more than a resource to be mined. Certain gullible communities are mined for votes. Others are mined for their money.

Obedience to Madigan (may the Big H come soon) is everything. Acting in the best interest of all citizens and the state as a whole does not appear on the list.

The best resolution each citizen in this state could make right now is to refuse to vote D for as long as it takes for the mess to be cleaned up.

What I am thinking is - why start with a regressive tax that will mostly hurt people Jabba purportedly came to protect? Why does Republican Michigan has the price of car registration tied to the value of the vehicle, and Democratic Illinois charges the same $100 for 1990 Ford Escort and 2019 Bentley?

Gas tax hadn’t been raised in 25 years, fell behind inflation and our roads were underfunded and repairs lagging. You either get to complain about bad roads and deficits, or you pay the taxes needed to fund what you use. The people of this state voted in the representatives who won’t lie to you and say they can fix everything without spending. Rauner campaigned on fixing by cutting - and he did cut, but nothing improved. Now he’s out, adults are back at the wheel, and you need to pay for the services you want.

Adjusted for inflation, the average taxes pay per person in this state are still lower than the 1950s

The gas tax in Pennsylvania is 68 cents per gallon. Illinois isn’t even in the top ten highest gas tax states. IL didn’t raise gas tax for 25 years. This is what happens.

No worries, we will still give TVDL’s to illegal migrants so they can drive, even though they shouldn’t legally be in this country. Hopefully they are buying lots of gas with their purple licenses. I tow every one I can. Call me a jerk, “they’re just trying to get to work.” Fuck that. They are parasites, sucking our country dry by taking every freebie they can - in the schools, in the hospitals. I watch them get free cancer treatment. Funny, my parents had to pay for theirs, until they finally ran out of money and died.

This city, county, and state suck.

Speaking of roads getting paved now, can anyone tell me why they are paving I94 up near Deerfield other than the owner of the paving company being connected? That road was fine, nothing wrong with it. So why the huge traffic tie ups , the increased travel times?

——————
Kingery/ Route 83 south of Cermak and Ogden - same thing - lanes blocked for miles for repairs but road was in excellent condition - makes NO sense other than pissing tax $$$$ to contractor friends.

Rauner couldn’t get much done due to the Demorats gridlocking Springfield. That’s fact. Now also as a small business owner I plan on charging customers more due this gas tax . This tax is far more reaching than most of you know. Every item and service will be affected. Pos governor never had a job in his life.

Rauner couldn’t get a budget passed because he couldn’t make sense of one. I, for one, am happy that “fatty” is getting the money necessary to fix the roads.

To the one who asked about where the millions of tollway dollars go - that’s the thing about tollways, they don’t find local roads, they pay only for the roadways on which they are collecting fees (usually INTERstates -meaning they are federally managed). And part of those fees go to pay back the investors who fronted the money for construction or repairs. This is all part of privatized investment in infrastructure. You either pay for the roads in taxes, or per-use fees (which also owe a profit back to the investors).

I for one am not going to do any of the above. Make. a day of it? Right to fill up a tank and put 2 5 gallon tanks in my trunk. Are you kidding me. 19 cent a gallon additional tax so I save 95 cent a 5 gallon can and $3.00 for a tank fillup. So for $5.00 I’m going to make a day of it, drive to Indiana and smell up my car. Not going to happen

People like you are exactly why we are at the point we are. Just keep taking in the shorts dummy. Please sir may I have another.

People like you really made a difference. You stopped the doubling of the gas tax that took effect today. Great job

That's fine, some of us enjoy getting out of the city for a while. No tolls, less gas tax, less sales tax,(5.5, not 10.25), no tax on groceries, and fewer Amish to deal with. You can stay here and pay up.

I couldn’t agree more. If you enjoy getting out of the city for awhile great. I was just pointing out it’s not worth it to drive to Indiana or Wisconsin to save a few bucks on a tank of gas

38 cent "EACH" gallon!!!

The asshat media keep saying 18 cent.

so every 10 gallon is 3.80 in TAXES.

FOP i hope you are taking notes for those pay cut GROOT was pondering.

6/30/2019

Think the media is trying to play it down by just stating the increase, not the total gas tax

To all the geniuses saying taxes haven’t gone up since 1990, you do understand the tax is percentage based and not a fee?

------>

No. State gas tax was flat, 19 cents per gallon. Which, considering the fact that throughout the nineties gas cost $1.10-1.20, was a fucking robbery. Now they doubled it to 38 cents.

Dude, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It wasn’t a % of fuel cost, it was $.19 per gallon - regardless of what rate you pay at the pump. Now its $.38

Stick to your lane

JB the Hutt - my ass hurts. Please stop sticking it up there. Stop with the BS taxes.! I know ... I know ... you never worked ONE fucking day in your life and cannot relate to average folk who were not born with a trust fund as big as your ass. I think you do understand how hard your fucking taxes are for the average Joe or Jane .... you just don’t give one flying fuck. You FAT slob.

In the nineties - that .19 equates to roughly 15% tax on fuel.

The .38 on a $3.60 gallon of gas is about a 10% tax, and that % drops as the price goes up.

We are paying lower tax rates on our gas today. What’s the problem here?

Boy Scout Road opens back up on July 3rd. It will be much easier to go to Indiana and get gas and groceries now.

I filled up my car last week at $3.19 a gallon in Park Ridge. Today gas in Wisconsin is $2.79 a gallon. Here it’s $3.38 a gallon. That’s just a State Tax increase, the city and county can raise theirs as well by 3 and 6 percent per gallon. The total taxes we pay per gallon is about 50 cents per gallon regardless of the price of gas per gallon.
