The City rolled out the Divvy scooters or Ride-Share scooters or whatever they're called. Ten separate companies are vying for the eventual Contract to waste tens of millions of taxpayer money. Here's how some of it went down:

Silicon Valley investment capitalists spent a lot of time and money developing behavioral algorithms to run their scooter companies.
They failed to includes factors like thievery and general Chicago attitude.
They also left out the restorative justice factor of Cook Co., which reduces every theft of property to a non-prosecutable event.
The companies that administer these scooters are about to go bankrupt. The scooters have no suspension and people don't wear helmets. Hit one pothole and you can get seriously injured. Lawsuits against these scooter companies AND THE CITY are coming!

Although the city will have a disclaimer that they are not responsible for injuries incurred while using these scooters they will stil be sued. There are people probablly sitting around now thinking of ways of making some money off of this.

From a Nashvillian where we have put up with the scooter scourge for months, because they have taken over our downtown and surrounding areas, where we have had at least one death and a gazillion injuries already, where we now have city council candidates running on a "ban the scooters" platform... good luck, Chicago. Sure a shooting is bound to happen eventually, though I think a bicycle would be more reliable than a scooter for that line of work. And when they give out the description they will be very accurate about the scooter and the clothing but no mention of race unless the thug is a fair skinned lad. Color me speechless.

So now retirees cant leave the city or your current mailing address because the Pension Board may send out a form to be filled out,notarized,and returned to the Pension Board in 11 days.And if you should miss this letter/form "FAILURE TO RETURN THIS COMPLETED ORIGINAL FORM BY JUNE 30,2019 WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF YOUR BENEFITS".These Pension People really know how to treat retirees.
They were all over Nashville the last time I was there in January. Bad idea.
Police will NOT persue any scooter jackings, to prevent any legal repercussions from personal injury suits.Taxing the shit out of these scooters is OK though.

Yes we are and Richie daley also, he gets driven everywhere by cpd,in unmarked city vehicles, he is on the board of coca-cola flies out of Midway constantly private jets a 2 man detail drives him to and from airport, like uber but better! He is a millionaire many times over and treated like royalty.
For those of u complaining that some will get shot on one or use one for a ¨ride-by¨, big deal. U need a valid credit card and they have gps. Any tampering and the wheels lock. Detectives will love these.

You’re a fucking moron and should go back to New Zealand. You need a valid credit card huh? That doesn’t mean it’s YOUR valid credit card. And the “big deal” is that we are tired of our insurance going up and taxes being drained by people who use the ER as the fixer for their own stupid acts. And it’s great that the wheels lock. I’ve seen these littering the streets of LA. It’s an eyesore, a hazard, and a huge mess.
Yes detectives will love taking reports for civil matters just like they love when a rental company calls and tries to report their car stolen because dude has kept it 2 weeks over contract and now SURPRISE, their deposit card isn’t going through.

Lots of injuries since the scooters came to Baltimore. They suggest you wear a helmet but don't provide one on the spot and most all don't bring their own. "Cities around the country are grappling with the legalities of scooter programs and how to regulate them . It is unclear if the cities themselves could be liable for injuries sustained by residents. State law requires riders under 16 to wear helmets." Interesting that Bird and Lime increased their per minute rates from $0.15 cents to $0.31 cents.
