- Indicted Ald. Edward Burke (14th) had a series of so-called burner cellphones, at least one of which was bought by an underling who paid cash for the device months before the federal raid on Burke’s ward and City Hall offices, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
Federal authorities only learned about that phone recently, sources familiar with the investigation said. Its existence raises the possibility that the alderman may have been alerted to, or was suspicious of, the investigation that led to the criminal case that was filed against him earlier this year.
A court-approved FBI wiretap of Burke’s main cellphone recorded more than 62,000 calls the alderman made or received over several months, records have shown. That includes recordings that formed the basis of the Jan. 3 charge of attempted extortion against Burke for allegedly shaking down a Burger King franchise owner for legal business.

Do the math. Over a three month period (2160 total hours) 90 days divided by 62000 calls equals 688 calls per day. If each call lasts 1.5 minutes that is 17.2 hours per day on phone. Must have been lots of deals everyday. Just when did he find tome to attend any meetings, eat, sleep or anything a normal person does in the course of a day. What a deal maker this guy should be teaching an class on government entrepreneurship. Could be the worlds expert on tome management.

Every aldermen or anyone in official capacity who makes deals/contracts where taxpayers money are spent should be required to wear body camera and have said deal recorded......but this is Crook County so do as I say not as I do. Off Topic but Trump just granted ICE deportation rights through an executive order. Lightfoot immediately instructed Eddie for CPD to disregard this. My job as a sworn officer is to uphold the law and if it means offending the Liberals illegal agenda so be it. None of us should hesitate to assist our law enforcement partners.
